One is an over-rated song, i love it, but i wouldn't consider it as one of Metallica's best. On the other hand, i think Disposable Heroes is under-rated. Great song, should be played live more often.
same with enter sandman. way too overrated. its got catchy riffs but its one of there songs that i will actually get sick of after awhile, unlike all of there other ones.

fade to black is underrated. it surprises me that its not as popular as puppets, sandman, one, etc. the solo is absolutely amazing and theres so much soul into the beginning.

Damage inc or To live is to die what do you think?
Damage inc or To live is to die what do you think?
wow, thats so tough. to live is to die has so many amazign aspects in musicianship obviously with the starting power thats trown around and then turns into solos and then the quite part goes to marmonizing guitars. amazing song. damage is also a rad song. extremely fast and powerful saying the least. but for now i'll take to live is to die.

Damage Inc. Gotta love that bass opening.

Orion vs To Live Is To Die is a better comparison. How can you compare one of the faster Metallica songs with one of their slower ballads. I love both, but for different reasons.
are you serious?!?! one has the most unbelievable music! i love them both, especially live
i don't like it how they perform it live anymore. but "for whome the bell tolls" is also a war song, and i think that beats all.

rage99 10-28-2004 11:02 PM

hehe lol n00bs!!!

Riva 10-28-2004 11:22 PM

"For Whom The Bell Tolls" is based on the book by Ernest Hemmingway. It is about a lot more than war, though. It is a good read.
The past few Sum 41 songs have absolutely ripped off Metallicas work.
pisses me off too

I hate One.. If Metallica never released One but still released St Anger they would have my respect, I have added St Anger to my iPod, but I will never add One (Although ajfa is a great album, I hate One).

100% but I don't think Fade To Black is underrated, ask any Metallica fan their favourite ten songs, and Fade To Black usually comes in somewhere.
Who cares if non-Metallica fans haven't heard it?

Diatonic Dissonance™ 10-29-2004 01:00 AM

Disposable Heroes is so underrated. I hate it :( (the fact that it's underrated, not the song).

They should play it so more often! That alternate-picking at the start is to die for!

And the lyrics are pure genius!

Disposable > One.

Metallica=bumlicker 10-29-2004 01:48 AM

Metallica aye. Fully sick.

Metallica fanboys dominate this thread. It is quite hilarious.

Burdcheese 10-29-2004 06:29 AM

Isn't that the general idea though?

Riva 10-29-2004 06:35 AM

Fanboys are different to fans though.

Burdcheese 10-29-2004 06:42 AM

Very True

jason01 10-29-2004 06:51 AM

hero of the day is a good song
some other great metallica songs are Seek and Destroy and Call of the Ktulu
yeah, orion is also good in fact the whole master of puppets album

Kickflip_Burrito 10-29-2004 10:55 AM

Ok Metallifans, what about Garage Inc? Nobody seems to focus on that album. What are yuor favourite songs from it?

Mine are : Die, Die My Darling, Last Caress/Green Hell, Blitzkreig, So What, Breadfan and Whiskey In The Jar. Possibly Mercyful Fate.

I always hate it when we have to single out songs because all metallica songs are rich and full of life and youve got to admit garage inc is a piece of cover history and a smashing album.

Shred Danson 10-29-2004 11:26 AM
One is better, but Disposable Heroes is better for rocking out.

Whats sweep-picking?
I just mastered sweep picking. It's a fun technique...

People with no avatars suck.

Burdcheese 10-29-2004 02:07 PM
i saw sum 41 play for whom the bell tolls and it was really crap, it looked like they strugled to play it
And yet they did Master of Puppets with no difficulty... ho hum

Otherside 10-29-2004 02:41 PM

Sum 41 was the best band at that show, the others didn't seem to care that much. You could tell Sum 41 practiced hard to get those songs down.

Lars4ever 10-29-2004 03:31 PM

whats better?

personally i miss the old early 90's rock they played. it was the best metallica era. even tho no matter what they play i will always be a fan, i do relly wish they would go back to how they used to be. thats what made em unique.

Aberrationbass 10-29-2004 03:35 PM

what do people think of some kind of monster? I personally thought it was awsome! Lars on a speed bike genious!
