I don't like the medley idea, becuase it will just complicate things. We can't even get it together as it is.
True. Probably should take it one step at a time.

XyleM 06-05-2005 12:03 AM

AJIG was saying that he did it sometimes, so i'm sure he could explain some ideas...

Moseswasbanned 06-05-2005 12:03 AM

Also Kage(and anybodyelse in here), I hope you check out my Debussy thread.

Moseswasbanned 06-05-2005 12:10 AM

Holy crap there it goes again........ I post and the thread dies.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-05-2005 12:17 AM

Does JoZ have a bassline recorded for Eulogy? I'm talking to 307 and he would gladly do the guitar for it. I think it would turn out great. it feels like I'm the only one, though

Ok. I've talked to over 5 guitarists about doing Parabol/a and they all say no for the same reason. I'm not going to beat a dead horse and say 'drop b is too hard,' but I think we've put enough energy(lol, it's the internet) into trying to get a guitarist for Parabol/a. Like I said before, there are tracks that are just as good that require less guitar strain.

Moseswasbanned 06-05-2005 12:19 AM

I say Ticks and Leeches if we gave up on Parabol/a. I don't want to sing for Eulogy for it will sound like ****.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-05-2005 12:22 AM

Ticks & Leeches
Vox-Moses
Guitar-Me, for now
Bass-JoZ, I assume
Drums-Faith+1 or Sliptallica

Eulogy
Vox-Kage, if he's willing
Guitar-307435342634632466236236 aka Jenny
Bass-duh
Drums-Faith+1 or Sliptallica or whoever else

Sound good?

Or..

Lateralus
Vox-Moses
Guitar-Kage
Bass-obvious, again
Drums- Faith+1, naturally

Moseswasbanned 06-05-2005 12:24 AM

Problem is with Joz we haven't heard anything from him in ages. I don't think he did a Ticks and Leeches one.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-05-2005 12:25 AM

I'm forgetting a couple that are well into production

Ænema
Vox-Moses, I assume
Guitar-Clearvision
Bass-JoZ
Drums-need one

Stinkfist
same lineup

I've actually talked to JoZ 2 times in the last three days. He just hasn't came here. I'll get him in here tomorrow or something.

Moseswasbanned 06-05-2005 12:26 AM
i would really like to do lateralus.....by my vote prolly sucks:lol:
Jake, look!!!^^^^^^

Yeah, I'll do vox for anything besides Eulogy and Pu****, because I don't want to butcher amazing vocal performances like those. Well unless, of course Kage butchers it worse..... :D just kidding.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-05-2005 12:28 AM

At what... :shifty:

fix'd

Moseswasbanned 06-05-2005 12:33 AM

Who's a drummer that can do Aenima?

Futuro 06-05-2005 12:34 AM

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-05-2005 12:35 AM

I don't mean to be a spamface, but when does your other account get unbanned? Ever? or was it a 3 day band or something to that effect?

Speaking of effects, I was looking at the amps that my Digitech is modeled after. There are 2 Mesa Boogie amp settings. Both are used at some time by Jones. Oh yeah.

i would love to do lateralus expect that up by tommorow evening, everybody else can pull it off right?

Moseswasbanned 06-05-2005 12:53 AM

I need to figure out what effects are needed to make it sound like recording quality vocals. Also Faith+1 record to the album, I want to be able to sing with Maynard.

dUSK 06-05-2005 12:53 AM

Although I'm not participating in the whole cover thing. I'm going to say I'd like to see you guys do Lateralus. I think it's probably going to give you the best shot at winning, and it's an amazing song anyway.

Wow, a little enthused aren't we?

Actually I take that back, because this is the kind of attitude we should all have about the covers.

XyleM 06-05-2005 02:05 AM

I know its an hour late, but you killed it again ;)

I'm pumped for you guys, whatever you decide I'm sure it will come off awesome.

Reywas 06-05-2005 04:47 AM

Can you guys tell me how to upload?I would like to upload Stinkfist(with vocals) me and my friend did with midi bass and drums. It's low quality but preety cool for two guys in like an hour of recording.

I'm also preety good at playing Parabola. The only problem is I have a V-Amp with the Boogie amplifier model so it doesn't sound exactly like the real thing.I can do it next week if you guys are willing.

Westy 06-05-2005 04:50 AM

a cover of tool from the fans will be awesome

I don't get what they mean by too hard. You just tune the E to a B and the A to an E. I play it with standard guage strings and everything is fine and it sounds fine. So, what's difficult about it?

PeEpHoLe_10 06-05-2005 05:30 AM

^^^
Yeah...i don't find anything really difficult about that either.

clearvision 06-05-2005 06:24 AM

B string is soo slack it sounds rank on most peoples guitars.

I just played through lateralus, pretty easy, only tricky part is the pinched harmonic bit and the 'over analysig' bit...

Why do we need to rope in numbers? It's not like we are short on guitarists...

I thought the whole point of this thing was the communities can put forward what they want...

Adam Jones is GOD 06-05-2005 06:55 AM

We have no shortage of guitarists, we have a bassist who has put down a good amount of starting material, plus others in reserve in case JoZ doesnt get the chance to do more. We have an eager drummer, and one who should be more eager, but has vanished again now. So numbers are not a problem.

To sort out a few thigns I picked up over the last page:

1) If we ever were to pull off Third Eye, I think it would have to be a multi guitarist effort. If anyone does know it all in its completion, by all means, give us an upload. If not, like (insert user here) said, there's enough talent here for people to learn certain sections, then piece together the track.

2) What I was referring to with a Tool medley was not to play the whole track progression at once, but instead to record the individual tracks at first, then look at ways they can link into the next, by adding different ending improv sections, to give it almost a live set feel. I can easily mix together two tracks to run into each other (got plenty of practice doing the hit-and-miss holy gift)

3) As for Drop B, I think some guitarists might have a moral objection rather than a technical one :p

4) If people (I keep saying this every other post it seems) have recording capabilities of any kind (i.e. functioning soundcards with some form of mic plugged in at least), then record what you can. If you're worried about negative reactions, dont be, most of the thread regs (there are some exceptions (JAKE :D) )will be constructive, and any crit wont be on your recording skill.

If its required, I might set up a soundclick space to put all the recordings up on. Ill also complie a list of what I have at the moment
