I finally got around to listening to Pink Moon for the first time (in full) earlier today. It's getting a provisional 4.5 for now, I think. Also;
Daft Punk - Discovery Frou Frou - Details the Ginger singles |
My mailbox was full of new releases today so I shall be digging:
My Morning Jacket - Z Constantines - Tournament of Hearts Deerhoof - The Runners Four and South Park Season Six |
Deerhoof - The Runners Four
I want to listen to that. I also heard it's a lot more straightforward than their usual? |

I hate the singer for that band |
It's at the Trobadour. Have you ever been there before? If so, what's it like?
It's a really cool venue actually. I saw The Panics play there. It's got a lounge bar type thing happening and it's quite small - probably only about a hundred people would fit in there. I Heart Hiroshima are playing there next Tuesday. Oh yeah, check this out br3ad: http://www.ravemag.com.au/raveweb.pdf Have a look at the front cover, page 22 and page 26. Better add my diggage: Tom Waits - Closing Time Ben Kweller - Sha Sha Air - 10,000 Hz Legend Bright Eyes - Fevers and Mirrors |
Kaiser Chiefs - Employment
Such a fun album. One of my favorite new commers thus far in 2005. Some songs to get if you haven't yet gave them a listen: Everyday I Love You Less And Less, Oh My God, Saturday Night. Or just pick up the album. I found it at a dirt cheap $7.50 at HMV. :-O! |
Everyday I Love You Less And Less
Possibly the most irritating song ever. |
Today was:
The Flaming Lips - Transmissions from the Satellite Heart The Mothers of Invention - Burnt Weeny Sandwich Morphine - Cure for Pain Elliott Smith - Either/Or Built to Spill - There's Nothing Wrong With Love The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico Talk Talk - Laughing Stock Pixies - Come On Pilgrim Nothing new here, just some of my enjoyable albums I've been doing work to. |
Hey Mike you like Acrobatic Tenement too? I'm finally getting into it and really enjoying songs like "Ticklish" and "Initiation."
Hey Mike you like Acrobatic Tenement too? I'm finally getting into it and really enjoying songs like "Ticklish" and "Initiation."
Of course. I was singing "Star Slight" for days after first getting that album.

You can understand the lyrics? See none of it makes sense to me, and even with the power of Google it's hard to make sense of what Cedric and Jim are shouting (especially since they were pretty doped up at the time apparently). But "Star Slight" is a good song even if it sounds a bit too much like it belongs in an iPod commercial. |
I have absolutely no idea what the lyrics are. But that doesn't stop me from singing them. That's one of the things I've always found funny... Normally, when songs have that "shout out loud" quality to them, you can actually sing the lyrics. It's like 80s hair metal, minus a chorus that everyone knows.
"Enfilade" is another ATD-I song like that. |

Today I have thoroughly enjoyed the following records in the order in which they appear.
The Beatles - The White Album Tom Waits - Rain Dogs DJ Shadow - Endtroducing... |
Dino Joonya - ... All Over Me
Antony - Bird Now Smiths - Hatful |
Today it was Metric and Broken Social Scene. Since I've been home, Black Mountain and The Blood Brothers.
|
Since the week started, it has been :
Snowden Lali Puna Kings of Convenience Phoenix Pinback Minus the Bear Mew Mogwai ...and UpDharmaDown :p |
Harry Nilsson

Iron On - Oh The Romance
Iron On are a new band from Brisbane (where I live). This is their debut album, and I love it. It's indie pop/rock with alternating male and female vocals in a similar style to Death Cab for Cutie, I guess. Very catchy stuff. They have some songs on purevolume (link), listen to the song off this album for a start. They also have a website: http://www.ironon.live.com.au/ Also dug: Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Abbatoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus Air - Moon Safari I'm starting to think that maybe I don't really like 10,000 Hz Legend more than Moon Safari. Talkie Walkie is Air's best anyway. |
Moon Safari > Talkie Walkie
Those are the only two I've heard though. |
Moon Safari > Talkie Walkie
Those are the only two I've heard though.
If you say so. :p But I might have to give Talkie Walkie another listen just to make sure. |
If you say so. :p
Yes, I have the final word on all. |
Estradasphere - It's Understood
Haven't spun any of these chaps in a while. |
My Morning Jacket - The Tennessee Fire
|
Fishbone
Sometimes I'd say they got a ska-reggae feel, sometimes I wouldn't know what to call them. Nonetheless they are real good IMO. Some good songs could be: Beergut Alchoholic Another Generation Ma & Pa Check them out. I'll update this weekly.
Its called e-m-o |
Its called e-m-o
Say wha? I've been diggin Liquid Liquid. Sorta no wave in nature though they missed the time frame by a few years, minimal dance beats that remind me slightly of the Talking Heads. |
Bob Mould - Workbook
This is a lot better than anything Sugar's ever done. Sugar sucks.
Very good Nacho. |
Do you also dislike Sugar? Thank you for being the only other person on earth that agrees.
Sugar is not as great as everyone, including Bob Mould, says it is. He was just trying to get back at Grant Hart and Husker Du, none of his solo/Sugar works have ever reached the same level that Husker Du was at. |
"Sugar is not as great as everyone says it is" is the understatement of the year. Copper Blue makes me throw up a little.
It makes me want to shoot myself. |
