Absu is decent. I liked Tara. You like Melechesh stevie? Kind of similiar. Neither band is exactly amazing, but they're both worth listening to occasionally.

Abigor's early stuff was ok. Verwüstung/Invoke the Dark Age and Nachthymnen (From the Twilight Kingdom) were decent, but after that they just kind of start to run together.

I'll check em out, haven't heard of them.

Melchesh is way better. I used to listen to them a lot.

I really like Nachthymnem and the Orkblut EP but that's all you really need from Abigor, their later stuff is pretty awful.

Anyone familiar with Vaakevandring or Antestor? I have Vaakevandring's cd, it is pretty good. I am not sure if it is considered black metal or not but it is in that realm or vicinity of metal music. Someday is a good song.

Antestor isnt really Black Metal. Well their music is, but they have a Christian concept.

If their music is black metal they're black metal. It isn't rocket science.

One reason I come to this place is the interaction between members. This is a classic example.

And so that this post isn't completely offtopic, black metal does have some great technical offering to the music community, but I haven't found anything other than Vaakevandring that I absolutely had to buy. But to each his own I guess, and I admit there are some classic bands out there.

And I love all the old stories about the black metal community in Norway. All except for the church burning incidents.
