has anyone listened to the electronic mix of "when your heart stops beating" on +44's myspace page? I dunno if its on the CD or not (i haven't gotten around to buying it yet :() but i'm really digging it. You think this is what mark was talking about when he first mentioned what +44 would be like a year ago?

Untitled 12-10-2006 10:48 AM

Lol at work yestoday, there was a kid sat in a car, and he had Dude Ranch on, soooooo loud, it was soo funny, this little 13 year old kid rocking out to it, i felt a slight nostalgic.

chumpradio 12-10-2006 01:55 PM

My band had a gig on Friday, and our drummer found out he couldn't play a few hours before we were due to be on stage. We ended up sticking one of our guitarists on drums, and played a few Blink covers. It went a lot better than we expected, the crowd seemed to love Blink when we thought the majority would hate them.
We ended up playing Dammit, Carousel and What's My Age Again, and would have done Going Away To College but the guitarist didn't know the drums to it.

lunchforthesky 12-10-2006 01:57 PM

At one of my old bands first gigs we played like eight blink covers haha. We were only 14 or so though it didnt seem that stupid.

Ross 12-10-2006 04:25 PM

We played the Sex Pistols and Ramones. How ol' skool were we? :p

MattSharpIsCool 12-10-2006 06:05 PM

We played AC/DC and Lynyrd Skynyrd. How old school were we? :p

Surtr 12-10-2006 06:07 PM

I played Greensleeves at my first gig.

I'm more old school than all of you.

hmm, u've got a point...maybe your right, idk. This version is pretty cool. So, does anyone have this version on their computer (like an actual file version)? Also, anyone have Stars in the Sky? I have a live version of that song if anyone wants it...

Isn't it called 'Star of Bethlehem' now? Coz it's on some random christmas album, along with that Plus 44 cover of whatever song they covered... It was bad.
YOu can download Star of Bethlehem at http://www.b182.com.
I can't be bothered giving a direct link, it's on there somewhere if you want it.

Surtr 12-11-2006 07:20 PM

What a bad song.

I don't mind most of the other AvA stuff..But jesus 'kin bloody goddamn christ Tom..Wake the 'kin hell up and stop writing piss tunes.

Yeah, it's a pretty bad song.

Plus, the first 4 minutes can be cut out, and you don't really even notice the difference. Actually, it probably makes the song better.

MattSharpIsCool 12-11-2006 11:13 PM

I liked that song...

It wouldnt hurt if the instrumental part at the beginning had a little more going on, but I thought the song was pretty good.

DJ Ducksauce 12-11-2006 11:32 PM

All AVA songs are decent on their own, but strung together on one allbum and all of them having 2 minute intros gets really old. Not to mention a lot are repetitive.

I liked the Christmas song when I first heard it. Kinda long intro as usual, but it was decent.

It's got nothing on I Won't Be Home for Christmas though.

Were we listening to the same song?

That thing is wayyyyy too bloody long. Power Metal bands couldn't pull off a 4 minute intro, wtf makes Tom think he can?

I don't mind the new album, but Josh's a good mate of mine, so I like to support 'em. I still like the bands music though.

Nothing wrong with a 4 minute intro, as long as there is actually stuff happening. Thats the only real problem I had with the AVA song, is it was that same effect or whatever looped about 6 million times with some variations.

yourstruly 12-14-2006 01:39 AM

I wish Ryan stayed with the Distillers, fuck AVA and fuck Tom Delonge. The Distillers are so much better.

I reckon he probablly joined just because he knew he could make millions of dollars.

FauxApathy 12-14-2006 04:39 PM

heh, sounds about right.

I mean, When I first heard about AVA I thought it was going to be complete ****. I still believe it.

But if Tom asked me to join I wouldn't turn him down. I don't think anyone here would.

B 12-14-2006 04:42 PM

exactly

why do you think tom is even doing it haha

Surtr 12-14-2006 07:01 PM

Aside from because he's a fuckin' gay retard who thinks you can fly, if you believe hard enough????

If you look past that, it's the money.

MattSharpIsCool 12-14-2006 11:15 PM

I'd sellout if I got the chance to play in a band with Tom.

Oh, and I'm seeing +44 tomorrow! I have the excitment in me!

MattSharpIsCool 12-16-2006 12:09 AM

Good to see you guys kept this thread busy.

I just got back from the Plus 44 concert, and it was crazy good. Its pretty amazing to think, Mark and Travis were in one of (if not the) biggest rock and roll band for about eight years, and here they are playing in a tiny venue, it was awesome.

They played the entire CD, and Travis was a madman on his snare pedal.

Untitled 12-16-2006 03:21 AM

I wouldn't play in a band with tom, i think his arrogance and over self belief would piss me off to a point where i would want to kill him or myself.

Id love to see +44 live, but i have noone to go with, and the venue in Manchester say its sold out, even though i check again now and it says its not. confusing.

DJ Ducksauce 12-16-2006 08:18 AM

Man, I missed them here in TX...

:(

Hopefully next time.

10571z 12-16-2006 05:41 PM

I know what you mean. Sydney gets all the good bands...
PS: Australia has the worst capitol city in the world, Canberra. That place is a dump, haha.
