Parabol/a is a must for me. I would love to vocals on that, and I don't see why Dropping B is so hard, I do it all the time.

Darkness 06-04-2005 09:09 PM

^ Yeah, Drop B isn't that bad. Whenever I restring my guitar I tune to it to screw around in, and nothing bad ever happens.

Futuro 06-04-2005 09:20 PM

i just deciphered ticks and leeches....if you guys really want to play it i think with some practice i can get it....by the way how much time do we have to get the cover done?

Moseswasbanned 06-04-2005 10:07 PM

There are no real rules except that the covers must be done only by an official thread.

Kage 06-04-2005 10:21 PM

If you don't have hte proper string gauges and your nut is not properly set up for low tunings, then going to B will mess up your guitar. Fret buzz, falling out of tune all time (even in standard), bridge gets thrown out of whack, and many other problems result from going that low.

Wait... so the RATM thread won't be aloud to enter?

Huber 06-04-2005 10:47 PM

I think it was settled that the RATM thread can't join in on it.

hey sliptallica do you play the intro to ticks and leeches with a tab? if so which one?

Huber 06-04-2005 11:00 PM
hey sliptallica do you play the intro to ticks and leeches with a tab? if so which one?
Never seen the tabs for it actually. My drum teacher had seen Danny play it live and helped me transcribe it.

Futuro 06-04-2005 11:02 PM

hmmmmmm.....i tried to trancribe it to paper but its not fitting in the bar of 7

Huber 06-04-2005 11:04 PM
hmmmmmm.....i tried to trancribe it to paper but its not fitting in the bar of 7
I just looked at the tab they have here on MX and it looks kinda different. I play the intro as a 16th note accent pattern, if that helps. If I recall, mine fit into 7.

hmm...well Matters a drummer and Im a guitar player and we can play The Grudge, Eulogy(minus the electronic beginning), or Pu****...I dont know if anyone out there could play a clean bassline to one of those songs. We could record our version and send it to whoever to put on his bassline. we would have the bass player send us a clean non-eq'd bassline and we could mix it on our gear and since Matter and I share a house it would make things pretty cool.

I can understand what you guys are trying to do here. I have to say though that Tool isnt just about the lyrics, stop trying to analyse everything and just listen to the music. Keenan Maynard says so himself that if you just look at the lyrics your missing 3/4 of the music. I listen to Tool because I love how their music comes together like a symphony. I dont have to analyze the lyrics to see what music MEANS. Music is about emotion and Tool expresses emotion just like any other music but the difference is there is more talent behind Tool than any other band i have seen in quite a long time. So please just listen and stop trying to figure out what it all MEANS. Its music and nothing more, maybe if you twist it enough you can find some logic in how things go together. If Maynard wanted to express philosophy that he wanted you to find then he would have written a book.

How many pages of this did you actually read?

Look, I'll cut you some slack, because you probably just read the first two pages or so of this thread. Don't take things at face value.
And please leave.

Huber 06-04-2005 11:15 PM

Number 1: Where did that come from?

Number 2: No one ever said Tool was just about lyrics. If they did, kick em' in the nuts.

Huber 06-04-2005 11:16 PM

This is how I play it faith, and it sounds great to me:

T1|-o-O-o-o-o-o-o-o-O-o-o-o---o|
FT|O-o-o-O---o-O-O-o-o-O-o---o-|
SD|--------O---------------oo--|
BD|o--o--o-o---o-o--o--o-------|

snares off btw

Blizzink 06-04-2005 11:17 PM

You must have read the first pages of this thread and posted that. Either way, though, it seems like you're saying any kind of lyrics discussion is pointless, but it's not. Like you said, it's just another part of the music, so some people would like to understand that part more in order to gain a better understanding for the whole picture.

Wait wait wait.....i did not realize that it was one song. I thought anyone from the thread could post a song. We would never do something like that, take the chance for somone to play a Tool song away from someone else. My bad, I did not understand the comp. sorry. If you need an extra guitarist, i'll gladly throw down a track for it, but im not gonna jump into the middle of this thing and butt other people out.

well his stuff would turn out easily like 10 times better than mine(sound wise, playing ability, and his Time)

But then again i might not have understood the rules, so maybe we can do more than one track. if so that would be awsome :thumb:

XyleM 06-04-2005 11:52 PM

I think AJIG's idea about the Tool medley thing would be awesome, you could throw the simpler songs together into one track, and thus make it sound similar to one of their epic songs :D

Moseswasbanned 06-04-2005 11:54 PM

I wouldn't say just do one track. Let's make a few and pick the best one...... if that's what the rules are.

Huber 06-04-2005 11:55 PM

I like this idea.

Futuro 06-04-2005 11:56 PM

hmm makes sense moses

Kage 06-04-2005 11:57 PM

I don't like the medley idea, becuase it will just complicate things. We can't even get it together as it is.

That's exactly what I was thinking, plus the atmosphere will be..... I don't know, cluttered?
