I need some elite metalcore with riffs. Similar to Unbroken.
Check out 108 - A New Beat From A Dead Heart.

Technically it's hardcore but it has riffs so whatever.

Ventriloquist 10-22-2009 04:19 PM

So, I'm going to see Absu next Sunday but I haven't heard anything by them other than the s/t, which I quite enjoy. What should I get?

Tara is less catchy but more intense.

Deth 10-22-2009 10:33 PM

Tara is ****ing fast

good album

Tyler 10-23-2009 09:00 AM

Anything I've heard from Absu has been solid. You know what you're going to get; they only do one thing. But at least they do it well.

Nepenthe 10-23-2009 10:26 AM

ive pretty much been in perpetual search of that since souvenirs d'un autre monde came out. theres really nothing like it, the closest youll get is good shoegaze like ride or my bloody valentine. the daysleepers would probably be your best bet, particularly the soft attack ep. on the more black metal side try looking into altar of plagues' white tomb, fen's malediction fields, and falls of rauros' hail wind and hewn oak.

Nepenthe 10-23-2009 10:43 AM

white tomb is infinite times superior to sol (and sol is great), so if you liked it at all definitely get white tomb. its a masterpiece, best album of the year id say.

but yeah, the daysleeper's soft attack ep and fen's malediction fields are the ones id go for first

Morumbar 10-24-2009 09:34 AM

I only have Slayer's God Hates Us All and I've been listening quite a bit the past few days. I'd like to know which Slayer albums most resemble this one.

Tyler 10-24-2009 11:44 AM

Might as well listen to Slipknot. Seriously, that's their KERRY KING JUST DISCOVERED SLIPKNOT album. Also probably their worst. So uh, go for albums from around the same era. Basically anything put out by Roadrunner around 2000-2002.

Morumbar 10-24-2009 12:02 PM

Well yeah, I hate just about every solo Kerry King plays with a passion, but they have some cool moments on that album.
Anyway, never mind.

Tyler 10-24-2009 12:03 PM

I'm just being serious, that album is largely based around Kerry's growing obsession with Slipknot.

RetiredAt21 10-24-2009 12:07 PM

And horrible breakdowns.

publicastration 10-24-2009 01:10 PM

I actually enjoy that album, idk.

I deleted all my slayer though except show no mercy

Si1v3RfaNg 10-24-2009 05:28 PM

I'm looking for some modern death metal with RIFFS.

Deth 10-24-2009 05:35 PM

modern as in recent or modern as in sounding?

Si1v3RfaNg 10-24-2009 05:36 PM
modern as in recent or modern as in sounding?
Modern production... I need some good sounding riffs in good quality.

Deth 10-24-2009 05:44 PM

Denial
Evocation
Gory Blister
Intenstine Baalism
Kronos
Necrovation

non-filthy death metal isn't really my forte, and you may have some of those already but idk good stuffs
I'm looking for some modern death metal with RIFFS.
I would recommend

Behemoth- Demigod (seriously underrated stuff round these parts)
Krypts- Open the Crypt
Iniquity- Grime (seriously the best death metal out there tbh)
Vehemence- God Was Created (riffy melody out the *** but not in that stupid gothenburg way)

publicastration 10-24-2009 11:58 PM

God Was Created isn't that good :(

Helping The World To See is good
