TojesDolan 06-30-2007 08:21 PM

tempo changes

LifeInABox 06-30-2007 08:25 PM
That would be a typical metalcore breakdown, but there are other types of breakdowns like Eliminator said.
Such as...?

Eliminator 06-30-2007 08:25 PM

http://www.google.com

you're an idiot if you actually think that's all that a breakdown is

LifeInABox 06-30-2007 08:29 PM

Did you mean to link me to the google homepage or...?

Dimmu Burger 06-30-2007 08:31 PM

I think he wants you to look it up.

Eliminator 06-30-2007 08:32 PM

its really hard to figure out

it took me awhile like do i type something in here or something idk what this isss

Dimmu Burger 06-30-2007 08:33 PM

yeah man just type in breakdown and see what comes up.

TojesDolan 06-30-2007 08:34 PM

I think so

LifeInABox 06-30-2007 08:35 PM

Well that was sort of pointless. Search breakdown on google video and see the garbage that comes up.

Eliminator 06-30-2007 08:53 PM

yes that was exactly the point
to look up breakdowns on google video

LifeInABox 06-30-2007 09:01 PM

No, I mean I got mostly different songs called Breakdown by artists such as Jack Johnson and such. There was no rock music that would have anything that would contribute to either of our points.

margin0walker 06-30-2007 09:02 PM

Word

@ eliminator

Eliminator 06-30-2007 09:02 PM

except for you know the wiki link second to the top

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Break_%28music%29

Nepenthe 06-30-2007 09:09 PM

I wasn't agreeing with you moron, I was laughing at you.

Invicta_Veritas 06-30-2007 09:11 PM

Are you guys seriously having an argument over the definition of a breakdown?

margin0walker 06-30-2007 09:12 PM

Hbp: there are clear breakdowns in I Abstain and Becoming A Stranger, both by Converge
Are you guys seriously having an argument over the definition of a breakdown?

shut the fuck up dude at least it's a legit discussion unlike all the shit that you brought up

Eliminator 06-30-2007 09:18 PM

the high cost of playing god
year of the swine

have breakdowns of some sort, at whatever length

LifeInABox 06-30-2007 09:34 PM
except for you know the wiki link second to the top

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Break_%28music%29
I didn't get that link.

Yes, much more legitimate. I agree. Continue.

ROFL.

Eliminator 06-30-2007 09:35 PM

you're an idiot

this can apply to either of the two above posters

LifeInABox 06-30-2007 09:36 PM
the high cost of playing god
year of the swine

Ok, but they're special "Converge Breakdowns" that sound different than all other breakdowns.

LifeInABox 06-30-2007 09:37 PM

I mean I didn't get the link in the google search because I only did a video search.

margin0walker 06-30-2007 09:37 PM
Ok, but they're special "Converge Breakdowns" that sound different than all other breakdowns.
yeah, and a lot of bands are able to incorporate special breakdowns that arent the usual chugga chugga bullshit, but they're still breakdowns

Eliminator 06-30-2007 09:39 PM

what are you talking about

the breakdowns in those songs are pretty generic hardcore

margin0walker 06-30-2007 09:44 PM

they dont have the same line sung over them though so they dont fit the description of a breakdown in hbp's eyes

LifeInABox 06-30-2007 09:50 PM

Well, in my eyes, I just meant the mold that most breakdowns are fit to now, which is what you described.

Zebra 06-30-2007 09:52 PM

hbp you my favorite poster on mx

just to let you know

LifeInABox 06-30-2007 09:53 PM

Woo Hoo!

Nepenthe 06-30-2007 09:57 PM

guys converge only play converge breakdowns not regular breakdowns

antihippy 06-30-2007 10:00 PM

i thought the broken vow has a break down. where they did the tapping part and then the gang vocals.

margin0walker 06-30-2007 10:00 PM

special converge breakdowns

LifeInABox 06-30-2007 10:03 PM

But that is what they are. They are special. Like the end part of Only Ash Remains by Necrophagist. That's also special.

antihippy 06-30-2007 10:03 PM

their breakdowns transcends all other breakdowns.

Invicta_Veritas 06-30-2007 10:03 PM

I thought a breakdown was just a ****ing breakdown, not band-specific breakdowns.

I just got a brilliant idea...I'm going to write a black metal song, put a breakdown at the end, and call it a "special" Black Metal breakdown.

antihippy 06-30-2007 10:12 PM

we're talking about a band's style of breakdowns. there are differences.

Invicta_Veritas 06-30-2007 10:17 PM

Yea, but ultimately, a breakdown is a breakdown. There's no reason to debate whether or not something is a breakdown, because then it escalates into a "well this is kindof a breakdown", "no it's not u fag" deal, and it gets stupid.

Nepenthe 06-30-2007 11:32 PM

But there's only one kind of breakdown, a breakdown. That's the hilarity of hbps words.

Tyler 07-01-2007 01:09 AM

Antihippy might be worse than hbp.

Concubine 07-01-2007 01:35 AM

why isnt this thread closed yet

i am the robots 07-01-2007 01:46 AM

Because it's hilarious.
