Nothing Mike plays for Incubus even comes close to showcasing his true talent, not even Sick Sad Little World.
The Time-Lapse Consortium stuff and the live improvisation doesn't even do him justice.

Who is this guy and what is his significance with the band?

SlashHalen 09-25-2005 09:29 PM

Is it true that they dont know how to read music? I heard that on the radio today. Just curious

Sound Boy 09-25-2005 09:29 PM

i wanna see a dj song and a secret song on the new album. and more **** that sounds like "make a move" i love the way the music sounds in that song behind brandons voice, it almost sounds like it doesnt fit.

BlindWriting 09-25-2005 09:34 PM

So Incubus are back in the studio, writing and recording, according to their site.

Any guess on what kind of direction the band will go in this time around? It seems to change from album to album.

No one actuall knows but there are several theories; none of which I feel like typing out right now. Perform a Google search for Charles Mulholland.

That would be a waste of an album in my opinion.

There's no telling really. I think they'll continue in the more Jazz-influenced direction they've been going in. I personally can't wait to hear Ben's work on the new album; he should be coming out of his shell so to speak now that he's toured with the band and become familiarized with playing with them.

Skyler 09-25-2005 10:07 PM

Ben is probably the most talented musician in the band. He can direct the music any way he wants to now.

I know Mike and Ben know how to read music. Mike studied theory and even went to a music college for a short while. I'm not sure about the other's though.

It's Brandon's dad, he appeared with him on TV maybe 6 months ago.

Kage 09-25-2005 10:18 PM

Would anyone care to send me Incubus' The Odyssey? Didn't they do a song called that that everyone raved about?

Skyler 09-25-2005 10:18 PM

Yeah, it's from the Halo 2 soundtrack. It's broken down into 4 parts. Do you have AIM? I can send you the first part, I'm currently downloading the other parts.

Yeah, that'd be great. headshokk7 is my AIM screen name.

No, I saw pictures and the video. I'll try to find it.

That's hard to say. Brandon is a genious when it comes to writing lyrics and drawing, and his voice is incredible. He can sing anything and make it sound good. I would say Brandon is the most talented.

Janitor 09-26-2005 01:58 PM

And this is all I can find in regards to Chuck. http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/showbiz.today/music.ontheroad/0111/30.html
I don't remember where I saw the pictures.

it sounds alot like rage against the machine. mike's tone is alot like tom morello's from evil empire...my two cents anyway

Lunch 09-26-2005 02:35 PM

Make a Move was way too bland for me. I'm not looking forward to a whole album filled with songs like that.
Make a Move was way too bland for me. I'm not looking forward to a whole album filled with songs like that.
I think it's a good song, but not good going by Incubus' standards.

mutant! 09-26-2005 02:42 PM

+1. However, aside from that, everything else they've released recently seems to showcase the beginning of exploration into the more jazzy rock territory as opposed to metal. Megalomaniac is a good example of that, methinks. Whatever they do, however, I will buy the album, because I respect the way they can evolve and stay relevant to today's music, and not just stale and rot away with the passing of time.

Lunch 09-26-2005 02:42 PM
I think it's a good song, but not good going by Incubus' standards.
I meant bland by their standards, since they're capable of doing much more interesting things musically. It's not bad, just not Incubus.

Sleeper 09-26-2005 03:15 PM

I think they made that song to go along with the movie soundtrack, so i'm not expecting the new material to sound like that.

Alessandro 09-26-2005 04:15 PM

123. If their new album is to sound like the stuff from "Stealth" it will sure be a waste of time, although Make a Move is an Ok song, I seriously hope their new album to sound completely different than that lame soundtrack bullsh*t. They´re talented musicians, I´m sure they´ll come up with high quality music, as usual.

Brandon isn't a genuis at writing music. He writes what the drugs tell him to.

Sound Boy 09-26-2005 04:36 PM

and thats different from every writer how?

Compared to a lot of other artists that did heavy drugs like Brandon, I would say Incubus' lyrics are pretty bland in comparison.

What years was he on drugs? Is he on them still, today?

Skyler 09-26-2005 07:28 PM
What years was he on drugs? Is he on them still, today?
Brandon did schrooms hardcore back around the Fungus Amongus/S.C.I.E.N.C.E. days (not sure about the rest of the band, but I know Mikey did it at least every so often). There are tons of references to it in songs like Calgone. I doubt they still do schrooms, but I've met Brandon and Mikey twice and they were high both times, so my guess is that they still smoke weed pretty often.

Uh no to the Charles Boyd thing. I need to do my homework more, I've never run across that article before. I always thought it was just an unsolved rumor. :upset: My apologies to you sir.

I know they mostly smoked pot, and did shrooms. I heard a rumor that Dereck lance didn't do drugs. I'm not sure though.
I know they mostly smoked pot, and did shrooms. I heard a rumor that Dereck lance didn't do drugs. I'm not sure though.
Dereck Lance (whoever that is) might not, but Dirk Lance of Incubus certainly did.

No need to apologize, I did the same thing when I first found out. I don't know why Incubus sites don't update information where they list those rumors.

Sleeper 09-26-2005 09:59 PM
Dereck Lance (whoever that is) might not, but Dirk Lance of Incubus certainly did.
Yes, Dirk Lance  . There was a rumor that he didn't do any drugs when he was with Incubus, but i know that isn't true.

Janitor 09-26-2005 10:03 PM

He seems to be high in one of the clips on the MVS dvd, I don't really remember if that was him in the clip or not though as I haven't watched it in a while. It's that Red Room Trip one though.

Sleeper 09-26-2005 10:05 PM

I love that dvd, I've seen it only once though. Can anyone explain to me when they show Brandon on the floor like crying or something. I never figured that out.

Janitor 09-26-2005 10:07 PM

I don't recall seeing anything like that. Do you know anything else about the shot of that? What the room looked like or who was with him or anything?
I don't recall seeing anything like that. Do you know anything else about the shot of that? What the room looked like or who was with him or anything?
It looked like the backstage of a concert, i've only seen it once. So i could be wrong.

Janitor 09-26-2005 10:11 PM

Now I really wanna know. I have to go get my dvd.

Oh yeah! You can also hear Kilmore saying, "I'm about ready to smoke this blunt! Anyone else wanna smoke this blunt?" on the Introducing the House clip from Morning View Sessions.

Skyler 09-26-2005 10:16 PM

Dirk Lance was high as fuck when I met them for the first time. He was also quite an asshole to be honest.

Not somebody I would want to have in my band.
