Metallion#666 10-07-2005 06:54 PM

I'm debating whether i should buy God hates us all, because i've heard mixed opinions about it, is it any good?

in my opinion, it is good. that may not be yours :) if you are an avid slayer fan and like alot of their stuff from the earlier days than you might find it a surprise as the tuning and the style and structure are quite different. i think it sounds great though, definately check it out.

MRDuCran 10-07-2005 10:00 PM

I thought all the songs that i've heard off that album were incredibly powerfull, also the production is a million times better than any of their old stuff.

Bazarov 10-07-2005 10:28 PM

Yeah GHUA has good production.. but dare I say... it has a nu-metally feel in a way. King and Jeff tuned their guitars down to B on that album.. but there are still very awesome songs on there. But then there's ones I don't care for.

I usually don't like drastic changes in tuning but GHUA was awesome.

and

GHUA :smash: St. Anger

in the battle for Drop tunings.

Hey butcher, I was wondering if you could (I know it's a pain and I'm sorry) resend me Show No Mercy? I wasn't able to get to a computer with a burner before today and the link expired. Sorry for the inconvenince but I HAVE to have that album. I listened to it and it was really good.

yeah agreed.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-10-2005 12:24 AM

Tom's vocals sucked on GHUA.

Nostalgia 10-10-2005 12:43 AM

True, they compared more to undisputed attitude, hes getting old next album he will probably have a cain.
Tom's vocals sucked on GHUA.
yeah that's true, but i never really adored his vocals anyway - i love slayer for their riffs and drumming and incredible bass. the vocals on alot of the songs sound good, but not all of em.

The second solo on The Antichrist is my fav. Slayer solo.

Nostalgia 10-10-2005 12:49 AM

Tom's vocals are a accuired taste. Songs like necrophobiac tomns voice is good IMO because of how fast the tempo of the song is. No Tom doesn't have "the best" vocals but they fit the genre. And listen to the intro scream on angel of death its amazing.

Bazarov 10-10-2005 12:51 AM

I'm actually quite fond of Tom's vocals, especially from SNM-RIB.

Tom's were much easier for me to like right off the bat than Mustain's were. I liked Tom's vox from the first time I heard them.

Nostalgia 10-10-2005 12:55 AM

What did you guys think of seasons in the abyss?

ArcLite 10-10-2005 12:59 AM

My favorite album next to RiB. I'm a fan of fast but also melodic, and Seasons combined the two perfectly for good thrash, in my opinion.

Same here, though I got into Megadeth before Slayer, it took me awhile to like Mustaine's vocals... but instantly I liked Tom's.
What did you guys think of seasons in the abyss?
Though I don't think it's their best, I think it's probably got their most catchy songs.

Nostalgia 10-10-2005 01:02 AM

This thread used to suck in the early pages. I like it now.

Speaking of early pages... what happened to ToRidtheDisease? I know he was lost in the server change... but did he just quit posting after that?

Nostalgia 10-10-2005 01:07 AM

like 2 days ago I was wondering that, he made alot of good threads, he made the black sabbath one and this one.

EDIT:hmm...it has him labled as guest and his post count is n/a. Hmm thats weird.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-10-2005 01:35 AM

Torid was banned for using a spam-bot, but he has a new account called TSASI.

EDIT: I just noticed he got the TSASI account name changed to Necronomicon

Nostalgia 10-10-2005 01:59 AM

Whats spam bot? is it just like auto spamming

/hides head in shame.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-10-2005 02:08 AM

Yeah pretty much. It just floods the forums.

For the record, Tom is one of, if not my favourite thrash vocalist in the SNM-RIB period. Those performances are at the pinnacle of thrash vocals. After that it's meh.

Bazarov 10-10-2005 07:24 AM
For the record, Tom is one of, if not my favourite thrash vocalist in the SNM-RIB period. Those performances are at the pinnacle of thrash vocals. After that it's meh.
That's very true.

Because his account was lost during the server change... all the people who were delted ended up getting that N/A stuff. Happened to my old username as well.

metalmilitia101 10-10-2005 09:13 PM

yeah tom is an exeedingly wonderful thrash vocalist. i would love to see them, i have yet to see them live.

They're great live. Even though when I saw them most of the time Tom just stood around and headbanged everynow and then, he had an awesome stage pressence. Kerry and Jeff could hardly keep still, they seemed to be giving it their all.

Nostalgia 10-10-2005 10:13 PM

Fun fact: Jeff always stands on the right of Kerry...every time I saw that on slayerized. hold on Ill post where it shows, "facts that hardcore fans don't even know"

Bazarov 10-10-2005 10:14 PM

Hey! That's true.. on War At the Warfield, and when I saw them... except when they switched places for a few riffs.

Nostalgia 10-10-2005 10:15 PM

Ya it's quite wierd and kerry drives a whit F1-50.

Bazarov 10-10-2005 10:19 PM

From Slayerized:
That there was an experimental version of the song "Seasons in the Abyss" with a flute added to the music!
Woah... I would like to hear this, but that's very un-Slayer-like.

Nostalgia 10-10-2005 10:23 PM

http://slayerized.com/ there is the list if you haven't seen it.

EDIT: damn it brings you to the main page but all you have to do is press enter slayerized.com and then click band then press did you know then you will be there.

He's sort of the reason I kept growing my hair. Last year I really considered cutting it.. but then I decided I'll let it get to "Hanneman's length". I'm almost there.

UpperDecker 10-11-2005 08:59 PM

Is anyone else here a big fan on Divine Intervention (the song)? There's some nice riffing and soloing in that song.

Bazarov 10-11-2005 09:02 PM

Yeah that's a pretty sweet song. But on that album my favorite is Serenity in Murder.

Nostalgia 10-11-2005 09:03 PM

Yea your lucky butcher you got the longs straight hair. dam I got this bushy hair thats curly and its not good for headbanging at all I look like a idiot.

Bazarov 10-11-2005 09:08 PM

You could always spend some cash and get your hair straightened.

So... what are some of your guys' favorite songs off of Divine Intervention. As I stated before my favorite is Serenity in Murder.

metalmilitia101 10-11-2005 09:08 PM

^^haha thats amusing. i would like to grow my hair like jeff hanneman's, cuz its almost the same color (not so bleached out tho) and its not all that curly. but yeah my hair rules right now. divine intervention is a lovely song, and yes it has some pretty sick soloing.

Nostalgia 10-11-2005 09:10 PM

Hm..my favorite song off DI is probably...213 It reminds me off deadskinmask.
