Ride On is easily the best off that CD, in my opinion. Anyone who has ever said all AC/DC songs sound the same, or that Bon cant write lyrics, needs to listen to that song. |
good band but highy over rated but good band to listen to when your bored
|
Does anyone know about there new cd? I read somewhere it was supposed to be out last year?
Its supposed to come out sometime this year, November I think. Dont quote me on that though. |
whats it gonna be called? does anybody know??
|
yeah i wanna know~
|
whats it gonna be called? does anybody know??
I heard it was gonna be called "strap it on," but who knows |
just let me say in advance that a lot of people will probably disagree with me on this but im kind of hypocritical on this so here i go....
AC/DC is a good band in the sense that they play catchy tunes that you can hear for the first time and sing along to or tap your foot to. but.... Thats because there songs a simple but good. AC/DC isnt all that great of musicians they've won people over simplicity and catchyness
it makes a key point to adress an issue that i come with against a lot of mxers and most players i know. music never is and was about technicality, if you go by technical diffuculty you've lost the power of music, it stops the good mood feeling. people critisize bands like blink and green day because they're 'crap' or are too simple. yet i'm sure they never see it as that. they're as good as they need be, just because there's no shredding, you know. it destroys the feel of music, some people need to learn that... ...or is it just me? |
Does anyone know about there new cd? I read somewhere it was supposed to be out last year?
apparently according to what i'm reading the new cd is just their family jewels dvd. i was kinda looking forward to a new cd, and them headlining donington. ah well, i hope they make a new cd though |
nah isnt family jewels they have even said they are hard at work writing new material for the new album and it probably wont be called strap it on they hardly ever let u no much about anything new
|
i just got an effects pedal with angus's distortion sound on it. it sounds great through my half.
|
I heard it was gonna be called "strap it on," but who knows
Nah, I think thats just a rumor...and I think its supposed to come out later this year. also, check this out: "Already AC/DC's Family Jewels has been number one in the Music DVD charts of Austria , France , Germany , Italy , Norway , United States and the United Kingdom." (link here ) glad to see AC/DC can still sell like crazy around the world :thumb: |
i just got an effects pedal with angus's distortion sound on it. it sounds great through my half.
Nice, how much did it cost? I read on the Gibson site that Angus doesn't actually use pedals, or drives distortion into his guitar. I'll get the interview now; What are your typical live amp settings? In your part of the world, a lot of venues are built with the same sort of design, so the sound doesn’t change all that much from night to night. But the amp settings will vary a bit in different venues. We do a little bit of juggling before we go out on tour and just try to get things as consistent as possible. I’ll take four 100-watt amps (Marshall or Wizard) and try them out individually. I’ll get a couple together and go through them to try to line up four that are pretty much the same in terms of tone and character. Then I just crank up a little bit of bass and put a little bit of middle in. If it’s too bassy, I’ll cut it back. Usually, all the controls are set about halfway, never full up. A lot of people think it sounds best when you drive the amps to death, but I never do it that way. I think that when you turn things up too much, the sound sort of goes a bit mushy. Your tone is actually much cleaner than many people think. It is. The amp is set very clean. A lot of people who have picked up my guitar and tried it through my amp have been shocked at how clean it is. They think it’s a very small sound when they play it and wonder how it sounds so much bigger when I’m playing. I just like enough gain so that it will still cut when you hit a lead lick without getting that sort of false Tonebender-type sound. I like to get a natural sustain from the guitar and amp. Do you ever use a boost pedal for leads? No. The only boost between the guitar and amp is me! |
Ive seen that interview somewhere. Its fairly good.
|
WOW! I just saw a film clip of Angus playing Thunderstruck live. Holy **** that guy can play. It makes really proud to be Aussie. he just goes crazy, i dont know how he play that fast while rolling around on the ground like a maniac.
|
What clip is this?
|
Do any of you guys know what concert/DVD has the part with Angus kicking around in a circle on the ground, then walking on his knees...they show the clip briefly in the School of Rock movie.
|
i dont know, i taped rage ages ago and i found the tape and was just watching it. And it said thunderstruck live
|

Yeah ive wandered where to get that after seeing that movie. Maybe its on High Voltage. |
Not sure if it's on DVD, but I've got the video via the Internet. If we are talking about the same video, that is...
He's playing 'Rocker', and he basically just goes insane. At one point he actually has to go off stage and take in oxygen via a oxygen mask. Then, he gets on a body guards shoulders and goes through the crowd playing a solo. As he gets back onto the stage, he runs back on for, falls to the floor, spins around, gets back up onto his knee's and they finish it. It's an awesome video, but I'm not totally sure wether we are talking about the same one. I know Jack Black is a big AC/DC fan, and if it is a different video, I'd too like to get hold of it. One of my teachers today came down and played a bit of guitar in our hall as my band was practicing, and even though he was a fan of AC/DC and could play nearly every solo I asked him to play, which vaired from Whole lotta' Rosie to Back in black, he claimed that he didn't think they were that great live. I slapped him. |
I think that they are really over-rated especially with kids who know crap about music. But they have some talent, if they weren't as popular I would be a bigger fan. They put on a nice show, but if they go on with more merchandising and crap then they will be like how Kiss turned out.

I love that video..no wonder Angus is so skinny, he sweats so **** much. and graveyard, what the hell does how popular they are have to do with how good they are, or how much you like them? Not liking a band because they're popular is stupid. |

Angus Young...almost as overrated as that go**** peice of **** "Smells Like Teen Spirit" When will the music channels stop putting that twat of a song at #1 in top rock anthems and best rock singles...its just not :upset:
|

Kids who know crap about music? Thats a lameass comment. AC/DC are only known by these 'kids' because they've made a few nice T-Shirts and DVD's. Kids like the style of the T-Shirts and merchandise, and buy it. They probably know jack about the music, or have heard one or two songs. This doesn't mean they are over rated. Whether you like them or not is your opinion, but not liking a band because of kids buying their merchandise is stupid. |

If anything, Angus is very under rated. You hardly ever see his name in the great guitarist polls. But if you do, it's because of his entertaining style of playing. Smells like teen spirit... s'average. |
