It's funny how those are the Megadeth lyrics I hear most

acefrehleyjendell 01-19-2005 06:24 AM

"dunn dunna dunn dunn, dunn dunn dunn, dunn dunna dunn dunn dunn,
you take a mortal man, dunn dunn dunn, dunn dunn dunn, dunn dunna dunn dunn dunn, and put him in control, dunn dunn dunn, dunn dunn dunn, dunn dunna dunn dunn dunn, watch him become a god, dunna dunn, watch peoples heads are rolled"

who can honestly say they don't sing symphony of destruction like that lol.

or "DUNN dulla DUNNA, DUNN da DUNN, da DANNA" Guess what that is?
Holy Wars. I have a habit of singing guitar riffs instead of the lyrics.

btoto 01-19-2005 09:27 AM

Hey guys did you hear the lates news?

Poland is suing Dave because he released 3 demo tracks from Rust In Peace with Chris' solos. (he recorded them before they got Marty).

munky_magik 01-19-2005 09:30 AM

any validity on that?

linkotim 01-19-2005 09:32 AM

megadeth= cool
i like them a lot

btoto 01-19-2005 09:48 AM
Damn. That's practically the only translation my browser doesn't have :upset:
Ok, I don't feel like translating the whole thing. But I can translate main things.......just for you :thumb:

"A few months ago ex-Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland and his mangement and lawyer sued on megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine. On the recent re-production of album Rust in Piece, Mustaine included three new demos without the permission of Poland. Mustaine included these demos because he thought that "Chris would be grateful for such a "commercial", accept it as a sign of respect and it will show to the fans the thruth: how big was these solos' (Poland's work) role on Marty Friedman".

Finally Chris demanded $9.500 and stopped all relations with Musataine and whole Megadeth."

I hope that was clear enough :upset:

btoto 01-19-2005 10:27 AM

Oh you lucky guy, I found it in english. Here you go:

munky_magik 01-19-2005 10:30 AM

Thanks alot :thumb:
Dave doesn't seem able to get along with anyone.

Andrew Womble 01-19-2005 11:38 AM

nobody gonna answer my question on page 45?

munky_magik 01-19-2005 11:40 AM
I'm not sure but I think it started when Mustaine invited Junior back to the band and at this time the last album was just finished completely by Mustaine. And Junior said he wanted money too from that album although he didn't take part in recording/producing. So, Mustaine asked him to fvck off plus he was so mad that in his interviews later he said that junior couldn't keep time in studio (worst insult towards a musician IMO) during 'deth years. And that's how it all went on....
you mean an answer like that?

btoto 01-19-2005 03:14 PM

Well, about that Poland stuff. I still can't believe that 2 guys who spend writing music, sharing food and touring together for many years can sue eachother. It's ridiculous !

I could never expect such a thing from him. Probably it was his cunning lawyer biatches who convinced him while he (Chris) was drunk or something.

Anyway, why only $9500??? Such a little sum.

AB/CD 01-19-2005 05:01 PM

well poland doesnt drink anymore and he is still friends with dave anyway wouldnt have worked on system has failed if he wasnt so being friends would explain the ittle sum

munky_magik 01-19-2005 05:02 PM

It might have happened after their collaboration so that might ruin that theory.

AB/CD 01-19-2005 05:10 PM

never thought of that

does any1 no what songs they r doing on this tour?

munky_magik 01-19-2005 05:12 PM

if you check back through this thread you'll be able to find a recent setlist somewhere.

AB/CD 01-19-2005 05:20 PM

ah righto cant wait for this concertonly like 2 weeks away

munky_magik 01-19-2005 05:26 PM

where are you seeing them?

Isaacsass89 01-19-2005 05:35 PM
123

BTW, let's talk about 'deth's lyrics. I personally don't like them. Especially 80's albums. Musically they're my favourite but lyrically I find them dumb. Just whole thing about dark things, death and $hit like that.

Although I love lyrics of Peace Sells and Mechanix.
Strange, I think mechanix is one of their worst songs, lyrically. (still an amazing song). Some of the songs on SFSGSW have some decent lyrics, such as in my darkest hour and set the world afire. Countdown as well has some good lyrics. Megadeth lyrics are decent, and not really better or worse than most other thrash lyrics anyway (IMO).

btoto 01-19-2005 05:43 PM

I love Mechanix lyrics because they're funny and different. Different I mean, it's about $ex as far as I know however it's not described in a stupid way. The first time I read the lyrics I even laughed a bit. :thumb:

AB/CD 01-20-2005 05:04 PM

seein them in Belfast first time they have been here in like 8 years apperantly

Iplaythegeeeeetar! 01-20-2005 05:18 PM

Hey, I love megadeth, and to play their songs, but I'm having trouble playing poland's solos. It seems to me he uses a technique, but, I don't know. Can anyone help me out?

AB/CD 01-20-2005 05:28 PM

all right, thanks... i guess...

AB/CD 01-20-2005 05:32 PM

if u want my advice ignore my advice i never know what im saying half the time lol but emm i actually dont think theres a technuiqe to it

btoto 01-20-2005 05:48 PM

Who cares about Chris' technique (yes, he's the best for me in Megadeth)??? I mean, just get the tabs, learn a few solos by him and after that you'll know all of his tricks. Guitarists can always sound different in their songs, but they all have their "specific" tricks. You just need to learn some of his stuff and then you'll automatically dig into it.

Sorry, couldn't explain any better :thumb:

great explanation, but, i mean, how does he play those solos so fast without doing pull-offs or hammer-ons or tremelo picking?

btoto 01-20-2005 06:04 PM

^It is called speed picking I guess. I can't explain how he plays that fast because I never tried his solos. :upset:

I need to spend more time on learning 'deth's stuff.

MAthiAS 01-20-2005 07:12 PM

Marty's leads are much harder than Poland's leads IMO. Not really for speed, but for sweeping and some tough legato runs.

Lyrically, I like Megadeth a lot. Sometimes the lyrics are shat, but the music makes up for it tenfold. Other times the lyrics are very good. Dave seems to write a bit more abstractly than other thrash bands, and I like that.

btoto 01-20-2005 07:27 PM

MAthiAS
--------

Marty's stuff is easier. IMO Poland's solos are the hardest on Megadeth albums.

Marty just uses various styles as you said and different scales.

However, technique vise Poland is harder..............again IMO

BTW, I recently read that as soon as Chris was kicked out from 'deth, he recorded a solo album named Return To Metropolis with his brother on drums which showed his great songwriting skills. Apparently, album was also filled with a few 'deth-like riffs and some serious shredding. I want to hear it :upset:

ForiegnPenguin 01-20-2005 07:29 PM

I saw that at Newbury Comics but didn't have the money to buy it. I'm surprised Gars isn't on drums.

MAthiAS 01-20-2005 07:43 PM

REally? I'll have to check that out. Anyone here like MD.45? I've never actually checked them out either. I've heard they're like exactly the same as Deth.

ForiegnPenguin 01-20-2005 07:49 PM

Yet another cd I constantly see but never have bothered to pick up.I really should though. I think I heard Dave doesn't sing on it.

Magicaltroll 01-20-2005 08:09 PM

hey anyone know what cd i should pick up next by these guys, i have RIP and countdown to extinction, havent listened to CTE yet though. but what other 'deth cd should i get?

thanks in advance

munky_magik 01-21-2005 06:19 AM

If you like Thrashier stuff, go for Killing is my Business....and buisness is good and Peace Sells.
If you're not thrashs centred I would reccomend Cryptic Writings, it's not thrashy at all but it's one of their best efforts IMO.
Also for just heay metal try The System has failed, and The World Needs A Hero.

Lord Abortion 01-21-2005 06:45 AM

TSHF is excellent...
best song on that is truth be told IMO

munky_magik 01-21-2005 06:59 AM

I really like Truth be told untill it breaks into the solos.
I love Die Dead Enough.
