awesome.
LotLDR was played once as a trial (or maybe it was for a whole tour...ill have to go through my boots). Nicko and Steve didnt want to play it. Guess they didnt like it, (kinda like how Harris now dislikes Aces high) |
^^^
yeah, i always wonder about Steve's pick for live songs. I heard they wanted to play "the fallen angel" in 00' but Steve decided on "dream of mirrors" over it, and Steve turned down "montsegur" for the DOD tour. Did Steve say why he didnt like Aces High? |
4. Dream of Mirrors, or the classic but simple beat to Running Free.
:thumb: :thumb: His playing on the Wicker Man is great, too...that man has a right foot from HELL! |
^^^
haha, no it was inbetween the bands when they were setting up equipment and the PA wasnt up that high :) I do aggree, that Paschendale has some of the best lyrics Maiden has ever seen...didnt Adrian write the lyrics for that one?
Oh right, lol, I understand. It's just when you mentinoed Bodom, I knew they covered at least one Maiden song (Aces High) and Iced Earth sound quite simialr to Maiden (well, not quite the same obviously) so I thought you meant covers. And yeah, H is down as the only writer on that one. |

(methinks its because of bruce's strain when trying to hit that high note and cant do it anymore ;)) poor bruce... |

with that in mind, Bruces voice (which still sounds remarkable IMO) what Maiden songs do you think are out of the question for him to sing again? |
in all honesty...Aces High and Phantome of the Opera
|

I heard Maiden hasn't played "Flight of Icarus" since the Powerslave tour because Bruce and Steve had a big argument about it (something concerning the tempo?). Too bad, because that's a really good song. Even though a better choice for a single from that album would have to be "The Trooper."
|
i know they never played "quest for fire" or "sun and steel" live, but those would be some that might give him trouble...also, "remember tomorrow" and "caught somewhere in time".
|
Adrian Smith only wrote the music to Paschendale, Steve Harris wrote most of the lyrics to Paschendale.
I Don't think bruce could do Quest for Fire anymore, everytime i listen to it i wonder how can any male reach such a high note. I would have thought that bruce would have had trouble with run to the hills, or can I play with madness. I would have loved montsegur on DoD tour, it would have been an awesome to mosh to (I was in the pit, 7ft from the hallowed bruce and adrian and dave, happy days). Does anyone know all the songs maiden haven't played live yet? Ash |
The thin line between love and hate would be awesome live
|
I think it's sad that Bruce wouldn't be able to do Aces High anymore, considering it's on of Maiden's better songs, but at least he can still do Hallowed Be Thy Name and The Sign Of The Cross.

UP THE IRONS!!!
That was Lord of the Flies, from X-factor, it was really funny at sheffield everyone was singing along to all of the songs then this came on and nobody had any idea what it was. :naughty: Ash PS I hate Funeral for a Friend. |
PS I hate Funeral for a Friend.
don't we all |
we got arch enemy in LA. They were bad (music wise) but I totally couldnt stand the death growls. I guess that was their plan. Have the horrid sounding vocals open so Maiden sounds 1000x better. Anywho, LoTF was a total blast to sing along with. One of the blaze era's best songs.

So you judge after what you "hear" about a CD? The Majority of Maiden Fans love that album.... i myself find it very good. |
the thing is about their newer shït is that they have three guitarists. now, i agree fully that their newer shït is just as good, if not better, than before. but, three guitarists wipes out the bass in the recording. maiden's sound is a heavy bass (probably because steve harris writes all the songs, and hes a fücking savage). all i hear in the wicker man from the bass is the popping. i say get rid of janick gers and go back to their 80's lineup, when they recorded most of their best shït. janick gers is a good guitarist, and wrote what is perhaps maiden's best song, be quick or be dead, but he isn't needed anymore, because they got adrian back. o well
|
^^the bass on Dance Of Death is fine
Or are you one of those people who is against old bands progressing to new ideas? |
Janick Gers...it wouldnt be Maiden without him now!!!
|
Ja-nick!Ja-nick!Ja-nick!Ja-nick!Ja-nick!Ja-nick!Ja-nick!
|
The X Factor has a few good tracks on it but i wouldnt say it was very good my fav has to be Piece Of Mind i love that album
|
That is a very good album. I was quite surprised by Number of the Beast. I was expecting it to be one dimensional rockin' songs like Run To The Hills and the title track, but then I was pleasantly surprised to be met with Children of the ****ed and Hallowed Be Thy Name.
|
Dont forget Invaders :chug: bringing some beer to the maiden thread as well
|
Heh Hey! It's one big party to you isn't it! :chug:
I hardly ever listen to invaders. I always go straight to Children of the Dammned, and then just let it play. I probably should stop neglecting that song though. |
:chug: i love invaders probably just for the chorus lol
