Pelican is touring the US with Russian Circles. Ill be seeing them in March
Red Sparowes are also doing the States soon.
O_O Where are the dates?!?! |
THe Pelican and Russian Circles tour sounds really cool. I couldnt find any tour dates, but I'll keep on looking.
|
Pelican is slightly overrated, but I'm sure together and live, that show would be mindblowing.
Also, what kind of post rock is Helios? Never heard them.. |

What about the Russian Circles tour?
|
Oh forgot to mention, Pelican is with Russian Circles. :D
edit: No I didn't!
Pelican is touring the US with Russian Circles. Ill be seeing them in March
|
EITS is so generic. It literally hurts.
Mogwai on the other hand will never be beaten in terms of cool. |
Also, what kind of post rock is Helios? Never heard them..
Well, it's not really post-rock in the literal sense of the word. It's a one-man-project by Keith Keniff, who also released an album of minimal piano music as Goldmund. Anyway, the music is likened to post-rock because of the way the instruments are layered, but he incorporates a lot of electronic stuff in the music as well. It's basically a mix of organic and electronic music, very beautiful always. If you're looking for big crescendos and distorted guitars this is not what you're looking for though. Wow man, those tracks are awesome. Beautiful stuff. I'm a huge fan of both ambient electronic music and more contemporary ambient and post-style music, so that really hit the spot. I hate to be such a leech, but could you upload an album or something?

Nope, I've only got in on vinyl, and I don't know how to rip vinyl to pc. I searched for it on the net for quite some time as well with no success and eventually just decided to buy it off of the strenght of the few tracks I had heard. Certainly wasn't a misbuy, it deserves your money. :) |
I just saw Jakob live yesterday, at the Big Day Out. Being the BDO, they only had a 45 min slot, but it was AMAZING.
Most of the concerts were packed to the brim with sweaty people moshing, but seeing as post rock isn't too popular, there weren't many people. I went 30 min before they started and went right up to the front of the stage near the middle. I smiled the whole time - it was just such a great experience. I just can't get over how awesome it was. They mostly played songs from Solace. I don't like a lot of NZ music, but they really make me proud. Unfortunately, they didn't stick around after the concert for autographs/pics etc, but it doesn't matter. I'm seeing them on the 10th of Feb with Isis. Speaking of which, the tickets are NZ $40 which is quite nice and cheap for an international. |

Wow, that's a fantastic lineup. You lucky bastard. |
US gets Isis with Jesu. I'm not complaining.... well actually I am, because they won't be anywhere near me.
Yay let's ignore the West Coast, Pelican.
Last year, when they were touring with Opeth, they were only on the west coast portion of the tour, so now it's our turn. :)
|
So apparantly a new DMST album leaked.
I have it but havn't listened yet. Any of you guys checked it out? |
i have never listened to DMST
recommendations please :) |
I'm going to the Chicago show of Isis/Jesu/Zozobra
Nothing ever comes to Green Bay. Except Tool and Tomahawk one year. Mother****er. |
& Yet & Yet is a great album Derek.
|
I have the new DMST , Kyle, it's quite nice.
I still favor & Yet & Yet though. |
& Yet & Yet is a great album Derek.
ah okay
i'll give soulseek a boot-up :) |
I'm definitely gonna be seeing Isis and Jesu, and I'll have 3 opportunities to do so. :D
Seattle, Spokane, and Portland are both about 3 hours away, and I have family I could stay with in Portland so we'll see. Does anyone have any idea how large those venues are? If they're small, I'd definitely hope to meet Isis or something. Maybe by then I'll have some music to whore to them. |

I like that album, but it takes 3 hymns to really send the tingles up my spine. |
