How come Alternative Tentacles doesn't list all of DK's original albums? Are they out of print now, or is it something to do with the Manifesto reprints?
the old band members sued jello and got the rights to his songs, except for the 'nazi punks **** off single'.

and i have just now realized that this thread has stolen my usertitle, i must rule or something.

AT doesn't have the rights to sell DK albums anymore after the lawsuit stuff and then Manifesto started reisussing the remasters. They do sell The Witch Trials album and sometimes have Nazi Punks F'uck Off singles in stock.

Me and my friend gave a kid a burned copy of MIA last week, and now his two favorite bands are Black Flag and The DKs. The amazing one week punk.

The Dead Kennedy's weren't/aren't anarchists right?

Brain Toad 10-07-2005 08:07 PM
The Dead Kennedy's weren't/aren't anarchists right?
Jello is a self-proclaimed anarchist but doesn't think anarchy could actually work in today's society.
Huh... it just hit me that I was 20 feet from Jello a week ago at the thing in DC. Wow that was cool. He really should be president.
can you imagine him as president **** that would be insane

AT's website has Jello's side, DK's website has their side, and there is a couple out there, just google Jello vs Dead Kennedys and you'll get something.
can you imagine him as president **** that would be insane
I can't imagaine him as president, but I think he should run. Even if he loses, like he did the mayor election, he'll still inspire people to take action, dont hate the media, become the media, dont hate ruling power, become the ruling power.

Massriot 10-08-2005 10:59 PM

This question doesn't warrant it's own thread.

Use The Community Thread. Also there is a Jello Biafra/Dead Kennedys Discussion Thread. Ask there.

/non-mod close.

lynch_me 10-09-2005 04:40 PM

I just saw them this past August, and to tell you the truth it wasn't that bad. I mean I was fairly satisfied. Although you can notice that jello isn't there...East bay ray, Klaus, and DH can still really play well and you get to hear all your favourites. When they first came on, the crowd was yelling "we want Jello!" and Klaus just said, "Oh come on!"

Funny.

Clashed 10-09-2005 05:21 PM

I saw them I believe march? And it was a great show. I'm seeing them the 29th.

Liebensaft 10-09-2005 05:30 PM

They're hear on Nov. 16. I'm not going. I don't think I'd wanna see them minus Jello anyway.
im starting to get into this band. what songs can you recommend
My personal favorites right now are:

Pull my Strings
Straight A's
Nazi Punks Fuck Off
Chemical Warfare
I Fought the Law

But all there stuff is good, including their live material. If you ever get a chance check out some video of them to Jello is great live.

I wouldn't want to see them live without Jello though because he is what made the band in my eyes...

Skidmark Steve 10-25-2005 04:49 PM

i dont know much about DK, but there playing live around here. Is it still the original line up or what?

DaveToopes 10-25-2005 04:50 PM

Nope, Jello's gone.

shamed-angel 10-25-2005 04:52 PM

I've got the vynil 7" of "Nazi Punks Fuck Off", and I wore the armband into school. I was made to take it off. I mean what the fuck?

Skidmark Steve 10-25-2005 04:57 PM
Nope, Jello's gone.
whose singer then? and why did he leave?

DaveToopes 10-25-2005 04:58 PM

I'm not sure, I just know that it's not the original lineup.

Brain Toad 10-25-2005 05:09 PM
i dont know much about DK, but there playing live around here. Is it still the original line up or what?
It's East Bay Ray, Klaus, and DH from the orginal lineup and Jeff Penalty is the new vocalist.
I've got the vynil 7" of "Nazi Punks Fuck Off", and I wore the armband into school. I was made to take it off. I mean what the fuck?
Even though it's a crossed out swastika, it still contains the swastika and a lot of schools don't want that.
whose singer then? and why did he leave?
First part, look at the first quote. The band broke up after Bedtime for Democracy and Jello went to do his own things. They had a falling out over royalities, with Jello holding some back from the rest of the band, and Jello got mad at the rest of the band for trying to put one of their songs in a Levi's ad. When the rest of DK reformed, they asked Jello to come back and play with them, but he refused and they recruited Brandon Cruz from Dr. Know, who left and they got Jeff Penalty.

Death_or_Glory 10-25-2005 05:18 PM
whose singer then?
Their new singer is Jeff Penalty, my friends went to wakestock and saw DK and said it was amazing. I don't see how anyone could replicate Jello's voice.

I also heard that they are realeasing a cd with Jeff Penalty.

EDIT: poop, sorry 'bout that, I can't figure out how to delete posts.
