Oh man I'm looking at some concerts in my area (Toronto).

Where does Phil Collins get off charging $135 per seat?

Maybe for Genesis I'd pay it...but not to hear his solo crap. Jeez...

Bartender 08-25-2004 07:37 PM

Sad thing is, my sister would probably pay the $135. Phil Collins is one of the weak spots in her musical taste.

chorbalan 08-25-2004 07:37 PM

**** anyone know how you can find out if theres concerts in vancouver cuz I've been lookin and i cant see ****....

Paranoidd 08-25-2004 11:10 PM

You can check ticketmaster, or check the specific venues, or check the website of radiostations that play the music you like.

Dancin' Man 08-26-2004 08:32 AM

The trouble with ticketmaster is that you get gouged. Unfortunatly it's hard to find venues not with ticketmaster. No, I'm seeing zero shows soon.

Kingofdudes 08-26-2004 09:21 AM

I might see Van Halen next month, it depends if im able to get some money. But I doubt it :upset:

*gasp*

What happened to the Dancing Man?

Dancin' Man 08-26-2004 08:14 PM

Pixies from LC made me change. I'll go back in a week. I can't find my own posts with Elmo.

Kingofdudes 08-26-2004 08:32 PM

I just love the "OMG ROCK IS DEAD!" threads

Dancin' Man 08-26-2004 08:42 PM

Seriously, don't these kids learn? Rock is not dead, your idols are.

Dancin' Man 08-27-2004 08:43 AM

Does the singer from Dimmu Borgir try to sound like Gollum?

How cool is that, my posts are 12 hours and 1 minute apart.

Paranoidd 08-27-2004 08:52 AM

Jeez I find it so hard to play guitar...dayum my stubby fingers

Dancin' Man 08-27-2004 08:52 AM

I've got long gangly fingers so I'm set. Spekkin of which, band practice in 45 minutes.

Paranoidd 08-27-2004 08:56 AM

I'm such a lazy sod. I still suck at guitar, 2 months after getting it. All I have is minimal, minimal speed. I know four chords and zero scales.

I'm more of a "let me screw around until I find a good riff or make a good chord" kinda player. I hate people like me.

evilmenhavenosongs 08-27-2004 08:57 AM

I have long fingers but I think they've become set in their ways from playing the flute and they sort of seize up when I try to put them on all the frets. This meaning I'm very very bad at bass :upset:

superpeer 08-27-2004 08:58 AM

You're supposed to suck if you have been playing for 2 months.

Paranoidd 08-27-2004 08:58 AM

^^^

I should have played bass. 2 less strings.

Paranoidd 08-27-2004 08:59 AM
You're supposed to suck if you have been playing for 2 months.
I could be alot better...two months is a long time.

superpeer 08-27-2004 08:59 AM

I love looking down on bass, it's funny how it pisses everyone off. :)

Dancin' Man 08-27-2004 09:02 AM

I like bass. It's a load of fun especially playing guitar solos on it. It just sounds so different. UNfortunatly I'm a pretty bad bass player. Guitar is where it's at for me. I sucked for the first 2 years but then I really started playing a lot and writing. Pop punk is the easiest stuff to start on (Weezer is great too) and the I went to grunge and after that I started writing and don't really play other peoples stuff any more (exzcept for acoustic Radiohead). I never actually played anyone elses metal (unless you count Tool and even then I only learned bits and pieces, excluding my acoustic Lateralus which is awesome but not yet recorded) and don't really write metal. I don't actually know what I write. Complex nu-metal maybe? It's got solos and cool progressions but it has the order of a normal numetal song (until about 2/3 the way through when it goes just get's wierd and is packed with interludes and solos and wierd stuff)

Did you like my rant?

superpeer 08-27-2004 09:05 AM

I like bass too, but it's just funny to get the bassists angry.

"It only has 4 strings, it's sooo easy"

"Guitar>Bass"

Ooh, you should see their reactions.

I always make fun of the bassist in my band.

I'll say things like " Turn your volume down, I can almost hear you " or " go stand in the corner, people don't need to see you, you're playing bass" :)

evilmenhavenosongs 08-27-2004 09:07 AM

I doubt I'm going to ever be any good, I've had my bass about a month and can't actually play anything at a remotely resembling reasonable speed :upset: At leat I don't get chords to learn, and you're right less strings :p

Paranoidd 08-27-2004 09:13 AM

It's probably not as much of a pain in the *** to tune, either. You don't have to worry about drop this and drop that...

I want to downtune mine 2 steps, but I'm too lazy.

evilmenhavenosongs 08-27-2004 09:19 AM

I got my dad to tune mine, I'm such a rebel :upset:

Paranoidd 08-27-2004 09:25 AM

Haha

Do you know theory?

Dancin' Man 08-27-2004 09:26 AM

I do!

I'm gonna try that today.

Paranoidd 08-27-2004 09:27 AM

@sshole. I hate you theory people.

I'm taking the Hendrix approach to guitar. Take drugs, maybe set a few things on fire, and hope for the best.

evilmenhavenosongs 08-27-2004 09:27 AM
Haha

Thanks to playing other instruments I at least know theory and can read sheet music etc. Which is a blessing even though tabs often confuse me at the moment.

Paranoidd 08-27-2004 09:29 AM

I can read music, like I know what notes are what, but translating that to my hand for my axe just doesn't happen. And being able to know what notes harmonize, that also doesn't happen. Don't even get me started on scales... :(
