would you mind posting a link? i didn't see it anywhere.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bia3o_0xx4k this clip is kind of cool
http://www.darkhall.tk/ |
I liked that
Steve wrote out the tab for the song Changing Weather, until the bass solo. It's so lame, there's no way I'm learning that ****ing thing by ear.
Not really digging it. :/
Knowing that the black metal thread will probably flame me for this, I'll ask it in here...what would you guys classify Agalloch as?
Regardless, I went ahead and got The Mantle on some people's recomendations here; it's easily one of the best albums I've ever heard. |
I'd probably say "Folk Metal" but that sounds pretty stupid. But yeah, I guess I'd go with that. Maybe Progressive but that's just about as meaningless.
Okay. All I know is I've gotten flamed to all hell for saying anything close to them "being black metal influenced".
Agalloch are hard to pin as a genre, but it is best to go with folk since it seems they get talked about most in the folk/viking thread.
I see. Thank you. I shall take my discussion there.
I usually just classify Agalloch as dark metal, which is kind of a broad term people use to describe the "darker" sounding metal bands. The Mantle is a great album but I'm more into Ashes Against The Grain, myself.
I am currently addicted to Agalloch. I can't stop listening to Limbs and Falling Snow.
I'm currently addicted to 3750.
SHE WOKE UP THIS MORNING WITH A BAD HANGOVER BUT TONIGHT SHE WILL BE GOING TO BED WITHOUT HER INSIDES |
Those are hilariously bad lyrics.
i know
still addicted to the album though |
Reminds me of some of Barnes's crappy lyricism. Seriously, "America the Brutal"?.
I like SFU, but I can't defend that. |
You're right, you can't defend liking SFU, they're horrid.
Oh, damn. I just got owned.
Eh, I know they're not popular around here, but that wasn't my point, obviously. |
But yeah, the song sort of progresses from that... it's basically a song about a serial killer with tuffguy hardcore level lyricism
but this part is awesome: There is a reason for my actions. There is a reason I raise my voice. This isn't going to be long term. I'll **** you, kill you, and leave you. |
Those make Sarcofago's lyrics look like Shakespear

I cant put this across in a way that doesnt seem like me being an absolute tool but, i totally do not get Nile. At all. Just, everything about them seems so .. crap.
Credit where credit is due: there first 40 seconds or w/e of Lashed to the Slave Stick is cool. |
Welcome to the club, I like Nile but no one else does. :(
I like Nile. |
I do too, but there not amazing.
The weird guitar tone kills Nile for me.
On all of there songs? I have never noticed a weird guitar tone...
Its the clean tone thats thrown in for the tech aspect. Idk, it just irritates me.
Oh That makes sense. I hate the song cast down the heretic.
That's their only song I like.
I think its really annoying.
I am currently addicted to Agalloch. Anyone that's interested in them would probably be hooked on AAtG, specifically the 2 tracks C.O.A. mentioned, Limbs is so awesome. The first album I heard by them was The Mantle and I kind of gave up on them, but i heard AAtG and loved it. @Luc I've got my own private little club too, I think me, Angmar, ICB, and repcak (though his posts here are few) are the only Nevermore fans. But kind of like what Squirrel said, I only like the first minute of one song, Sacrifice Unto Sebek. |

I enjoy Nile, mostly the older stuff. As far as newer Nile goes, it's very hit and miss.
obscure egyptian modes
I enjoy Nile. They aren't the greatest death metal band in the world, but the middle eastern instrumentation is really cool and keeps it interesting.
Ithyphallic was a great improvement in modern Nile.
More it's the only interesting element in their music.
Yeah, I won't argue against that.

you may have a point there, i think the song Insignificant has good lyrics though. |
Why in the ****ing hell are you discussing Nevermore in here again.
Ours is not to question the reasons why Crippled indecision repeats the path I once denied Insignificant, am I ? The color of sundown,of crimson sky The beauty that breaks down And gives the day unto the night And then one day you'll realize Just a speck in the spectrum Insignificant,am I ? And then one day you'll realize The beauty that breaks down never knows the reason why scan my horizon as blue turns to black the sky is gone again and all beneath are born to die insignificant,am I ? And then one day you'll realize Just a speck in the spectrum Insignificant,am I ? And then one day you'll realize The beauty that breaks down never knows the reason why = Horrible trash gtfo |
