***Just a reminder to anyone who didnt vote for Chancellor in Top Bassist Poll***

Sorry if this post is annoying but i cant stand the fact that cliff or geezer are leading the poll....

thanx
I really find it hard to believe that Cliff Burton is winning this.

N.P. – Porcupine Tree - In Absentia. Get this album!

Esoteric that was a beautiful interpretation! I've always seen it as a story of an abusive relationship, and the abused victim ends up killing whom he loves yet is abused by, but you opened up a new view to me, wonderful job! Both versions are beautiful just as beautiful though.

If he's only been playing a little while then that's fine but tell him to work on his fills and then he'll even out a little more.

Pshh I probably won't win, what with a under two minute song.

Mr Herb 07-08-2005 10:48 PM

o well. . .the name is pretty cool thou.

How did you find the singer on my band?

Moses 07-08-2005 10:49 PM
o well. . .the name is pretty cool thou.

What?

Mr Herb 07-08-2005 10:50 PM

lol. On the song you heard from my band. . .my own summer. . .was the singer any good?

Moses 07-08-2005 10:54 PM

He was pretty good pitch wise, but that's not that hard to sing. Have him sing 46&2 and see how well he does....... That **** was really hard. He's gotta cool scream but it'll probably change as he gets older. That's what happened to me because I used to have a scream like that but now when I go for that type of scream it's more mid-range. I can do more varieties of screams since I lost the highpitched scream though.

Mr Herb 07-08-2005 10:58 PM

Hes erm 17 but o well.

Am trying to get em to sing tool but he says its for fags and my bro wont have skill to play tool for a while and my guitarist says the songs are too long. . so were stuck with incubus deftones slipknot and other ****

He says Tool is for fags but he wants to play Incubus?

Last time I checked Tool is heavier than Incubus. Let him listen to Ticks and Leeches.

Mr Herb 07-08-2005 11:02 PM
. Let him listen to Ticks and Leeches.
Great idea!

Most people in pr dislikes tool. But thats alright, am the only one with tool shirts

yeah incubus is faggy. I dont think hes ever really heard tool . . .

BlindWriting 07-08-2005 11:32 PM

I think Incubus is great.

TheMachineRagesOn 07-08-2005 11:36 PM

As do i, maybe that guy is just an immature, ignorant kid who hasnt developed a real taste in music yet, maybe?

Moses 07-08-2005 11:42 PM

I like Incubus too.

Trintar_VIII 07-08-2005 11:44 PM

Yeah, the guitar player in my band hated Tool, so we never got to play any of them. It was a big letdown. The bassist and I play them every chance we get though.

Dried Muffin Remnants 07-08-2005 11:49 PM

The typical knock on Tool isn't their lack of heaviness. People think that they're either boring or too dark. I have some friends who like Tool and others who don't... those who don't generally tell me why they aren't into Tool.

I know I've brought this up, but Pitchfork knocked Tool's Lateralus for being too repetitive after they gave one of Mogwai's albums a great review. Interesting. I like Mogwai, but they place a lot more emphasis on repetition than Tool does. I don't think it's a valid criticism in that case.

In the singer's situation though, it sounds like it might be the lack of heaviness.

Anyway I encourage people to listen to the download at the top of the page. It's me playing my entry for a composition competition.

 Sorry I listened to it before and meant to say something. I liked it! You definitely have an eccentric style and paint the right picture in respect to your title. It definitely sounds like some sort of escape into fantasy. You're a very skilled musician. :thumb:

Mr Herb 07-09-2005 12:09 AM

I like incubus too, were playing pistola next on the band.

I think the singer dislikes em cause. . .I really dont know. . .I have no clue:( he just said they were fags.

Many people here listen to them but say they dont like them alot and only listen to their short songs. . and they seem un interested whenever I try to show em stuff like lateralus and the patient. And they wont even give props to danny, they swear the dude from metallica is better

Expresso 07-09-2005 12:12 AM

Esoteric... now THAT's a Tool Thred Post!

Pu**** is the most beautiful Tool song in my opinion, and the fact that they improved it live is, to say the least, rediculous.

Faith + 1
Where's your Lateralus track at? (Who caresa about minute 5:40 anyways?)

XyleM 07-09-2005 12:13 AM

NP: Incubus - Idiot Box

So yea I like incubus as well...

My mates don't like Tool, because of the length of the songs, and the rumours spread and stuff. They all have too shorter attention spans lol.

Otherside 07-09-2005 12:15 AM

My friends don't like Tool either, but they never like one band for long anyways. The progression of one of my friends was:

Nu-metal=> Classic Rock => 80's Heavy Metal => 70's/80's hardcore punk => Indie

All within one and half year.

Thanks, I actually named the song after I made it but definately what I had in mind. The name, Fantasy, actually is a style of writing, because it's alot more free form and lets the composer do what they want.

Trintar_VIII 07-09-2005 12:22 AM

Letmypeopleho - Very nice playing...I found it to be both energetic and relaxing at the same time. How long have you been playing?

Also, where is the clip of Faith + 1 playing Lateralus? I'd like to hear it if that's possible.

Thanks, I've been playing since I was 5 so that'd be 11 years.

Trintar_VIII 07-09-2005 12:27 AM

I always meant to learn piano, but never got around to doing it. The college I'm going to requires that music majors take a piano course, so i guess i'm finally going to learn.

Here's the track.. And I care.. Because it's impossible to sing over :|.. And it's a shame because other than that his recording is absolutely amazing.
*feels bad for critisizing it*

Phobophile 07-09-2005 07:42 AM

Tool will reportedly be issuing a vinyl edition of their "Lateralus" album in North America on August 23rd. The outing is said to be a double-vinyl effort on 4 picture discs, packaged in a special plastic gatefold with holographic foil. No official word has been released as of yet however.

clearvision 07-09-2005 08:14 AM

We should all hit blair with millions of emails asking him to explain this one...

denboy 07-09-2005 10:08 AM

Man.. The vocals on Lateralus are more complicated than I first thought... Not only is the rythm on them crazy.. But he changes it every time he sings... Plus, he uses a different "voice" for each passage
Plus, the vocals are double tracked... So if I make a mistake, it's really obvious, unless i make the same mistake twice

Gotta love Maynard

clearvision 07-09-2005 10:45 AM

I got catching without arms today...I <3 dredg so much at the moment, them combined with bjork = lighting up my days :)

I just really struggle to do the aggressive vocals that maynard does :( I sound like such a little boy

denboy 07-09-2005 10:54 AM

Haha.. Yeah.. I know how that is.. I'm 19 and I still sound kind of childish when I scream

And I was in denmarks biggest record store here yesterday.. And they didn't even have Catch without arms..!.. That made me quite mad

clearvision 07-09-2005 10:58 AM

 I was in HMV the other day (out of boredom) and i was half glancing through the emtal section, half checking out the store assistan  (decided she was too emo to be striking up convo with)

Anyways, the metal section consisted of bands like Alkaline trio, My Chemical Romance, Brand New and A Perfect Circle...'scuse me, metal?

There was no Burzum, Only Soulside Journey (not a black metal album) by Darkthrone, No Children of Bodom or Dragonforce...So Any Power metal/Black metal CD's I may have wanted but wouldn't have bought because of extortionate prices, weren't there! And their Lateralus wasin a paper case  I didn't think that was supposed to be the case...(hehe did you see what i did there?)

denboy 07-09-2005 11:03 AM

Hehehe.. Pun fully inteded I suppos?
We're lucky here, the metal section in that store I went to yesterday have all the underground metal you could dream of.. Plus a little description behind each band name such as "Groundbreaking metal, the debut is a must hear!"... They actually take the time to have their employees listen to the music and comment!...
But they don't carry dredg >:|
