I think this messageboard is officially dead. I mean I know I caught the tail end when I joined and it's been slowly declining since, but now it is just dead. There's about 3 posts (that includes replies) every 24 hours.

I feel ya, man. I've ventured over to Talkbass for most of my bass-forum-posting-needs. But I find that I'm spending more time playing and promoting my band now. Which may or may not be a good thing. Whatchu been up to? |
Yeah, when I want to actually discuss the instrument, I go to Talkbass. For anything else, I hang out at Fark.
|
I'm too busy doing this:
To notice if the forums are dead.. |
Lol. Idk what that is, but it reminds me of Runescape...which I love.
|
I've been buggering about all over the shop. Saw Sonic Youth the other week and seeing place to bury strangers in another week or so.
|
yeah, except that i can't find my microsoft office install CD, and even with the student discount, office 08 is 50 bucks. how is it over twice as expensive to get word processing than an entire OS?
I thought you said that it transferred your programs? |
I thought you said that it transferred your programs?
no, it transferred all my files. i had to re-install all of my programs, and i don't have the install file needed. |

Lol it's Diablo 2, well...It's Median XL, a mod for Diablo 2. Much, much better than the original game. |

Sonic Youth is coming to my city toward the middle of January. I've never seen them, but I'm going to try like hell to see them this year.
Lol it's Diablo 2, well...It's Median XL, a mod for Diablo 2. Much, much better than the original game.
Cool. I've never played it, nor do I really have time to anymore. I used to love MMORPGS. Now I just play bass and compose and read math-related texts. |
I loved the Baldur's Gate series back in early high school.
|
God. We need to actually record some of our sh*t and get demos going. I hate having only our sh*tty practice room recordings on MySpace.
|
Yeah man, good recordings are essential to having a web presence.

Pretty much, man. I am almost ashamed to plug our band's MySpace without having decent recordings. We've already set aside the month of December to do recording, but I'd like to start them much sooner if possible. It's just a matter of getting my drummer and guitarist to collaborate and work out a time with our recording guy. |
Definitely man, recordings are the only thing really worth showing off to people.
It's good to have that much notice, so you can drill the living **** out of the songs you want to record and have everything planned out nice and tight. Recording is horrendously expensive once the days start adding up :(. One really lucky break is if you can find an audio school near you, most around here offer free recording time so that the students can get practise recording bands. You don't always get many hours but if you can make friends with a guy doing that they often end up being able to give you a free day of recording time. One of my old bands went that route and got a 10 hour day for no charge, knocked up a seven track demo/EP with that time and it was a lovely freebie. Mixing mastering has to happen some other time, but yeah it's a valuable option if available. |

One was my old guitarist, the other one actually graduated from the aforementioned recording school. Both will record us for free, but I don't think either of them mix too well. Then again, it could just be the speakers I generally end up listening to the music through (headphones or dinky computer speakers). I know Liam/Raayl offered to do some free mixing for me, so I might take him up on that offer for a song. |
Who was it?
Datura, a local Toronto band. http://www.myspace.com/datura Not only were they incredibly tight, they were all awesome at their instruments. I can't wait to see them again. |

BG2 and the expansion stole more hours of my life than I care to mention. I bought Dragon Age: Origins yesterday... it's made by Bioware, and the developers consider it to be the spiritual successor to the BG2. It's certainly very similar in a lot of ways, although playing it on a 19" TV is killing me. Can barely read some of the text. |

Tell them it's cool for them to try their hand at mixing for practise and whatnot, but get those raw session files so you can go somewhere else too. |
Band practice with my second band soon. I'm getting sick, though, and it's going to be a long practice. But we've got a gig next Sunday, so we need to put the finishing touches on the setlist. Sigh. Would rather just stay in bed.
|
I've also got practice in a while. I'm looking forward to it because my band is finally getting back into practicing after going way too long without. We haven't been regularly practicing or playing shows at all since June.
|
you haven't been practicing but you've been making albums? it shows.
|
Zing.

as well as having mad bassface he's also got mad hypertension :( |
Maybe it's the camera, the dude looks in the background to the right looks like he has the same thing as well as some scales on his neck.
Perhaps the whole band was trying to turn Super Saiyan right at that exact moment. |
