Yeah...but what genre is it?
Any attempt to identify Mr Bungle's genre will probably result in  :)

I edited my post just after yours by the way, but probably too late for you to notice it, sorry.

GurS 05-25-2005 11:17 AM

I'm well pleased with a poem I wrote earlier today, took me a good 2 or so hours to write it. Anyone wanna read it?

munky_magik 05-25-2005 11:19 AM
You mosdef need to check out Mr. Bungle - s/t
I knew you meant 'Most definietly' but it came out as Mos Def, and for that I shall have to hurt you. Sorry.
and am informed by my sister that Elephunk is worth owning.
Well I left out "reliably" on purpose, but she has her moments, musically. She just doesn't do much to expand what she listens to.

Gurs - if you post it, we will read.

Any info on genres/sites i may look at/tracks i should look at would be great;y appreciated :)

GurS 05-25-2005 11:28 AM

My poem: feedback plz?

Shallow

When I can bear to lift my head up from my desk
I stare out the window, and wonder about the world.
It’s not healthy in a boy my age to think about the pitfalls in human nature.
But I can’t help it.

Talking with my peers is constantly becoming a chore.
It’s not easy to try and be a nice guy when surrounded by gossip.
I find it hard to stifle my screams when I listen to my acquaintances talk.
But I manage.

A man needn’t be holy to know when he’s surrounded by sinners.
If life is an ocean of hatred and mistrust, dark and black
Then it’s one shallow enough for everyone to paddle in from time to time
Even those too young to swim.

It’s a guilty little pleasure we allow ourselves sometimes,
To swim and bathe and swallow the filthy waters of gossip,
To let the waters rush over our heads and drown us in jealousy and hatred
And drink deep.

Each day is a struggle to get through. It’s tiring work,
To stand and sit and listen to snide remarks all around you.
I feel so weary when I return from the battlefront, and collapse into a chair
And delicately put my head back down on the desk.

clearvision 05-25-2005 11:31 AM

Was coo, if a tad ont he repetitive side

'If life is an ocean of hatred and mistrust, dark and black
Then it’s one shallow enough for everyone to paddle in from time to time
Even those too young to swim.'

Love those 3 lines...

Mebbe you should have a word with your peers?

I can upload some stuff from the Self-Titled Mr Bungle album if you like.
Alternatively I could upload the whole thing, if you like.

Amazing poem, GurS! I really like it.

Pretty good. It had a nice (if you understand me using "nice" in a different sense to it being happy :)) theme throughout it, is the main thing I came away with from it.

GurS 05-25-2005 11:40 AM
Mebbe you should have a word with your peers?
I wish I could... but two things stop me. A) I don't want to seem pretentious or as if I occupy the moral highground, and B) far too many people do it for my to try and explain people the importance of valuing others, and of not taking people at face value.
Amazing poem, GurS! I really like it.
munky_magik 05-25-2005 11:58 AM

That was a good read Gurs.
I think I'm gonna see the new Star Wars tonight. Did John Williams write the score for it?

Bartender 05-25-2005 11:59 AM

He did, yep.

EDIT: could someone provide me with an o umlaut? or anything really that can pass for an o, but isn't recognised and censored here on MX.

munky_magik 05-25-2005 12:05 PM

It can't be all that bad then :)

ó is vaugely o-ish.

Rothmans 05-25-2005 12:07 PM

 I have 420 points coming from 5 reps.
I have the second highest non-mod Rep according to the user list. Well, apart from Joshia and Playwithfire but they don't really count.

Six Foot Revolver 05-25-2005 12:09 PM

I have only been repped once and that was for reporting bad threads :(. I have also been neg repped :upset:

GurS 05-25-2005 12:10 PM

never been neg repped, i got repped for a good equipment reivew. I thought I may have gotten rep for organising the 100 greatest non-classical pianists/keyboardists over in P&K, but no such luck :(

Arucard 05-25-2005 12:11 PM

Dont you worry, ive had jack all too.

I see "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to munky_magik again." quite frequently.

MXican - who by?

Six Foot Revolver 05-25-2005 12:12 PM

It was by Ali G for a post which I didn't deserve to be neg repped for

munky_magik 05-25-2005 12:13 PM

The rep system seems to work better this way.
What do all the UK residents think of the ID cards?
I'm not in favour of them. Especially since they'll cost an estimated £93.00 :-/

Hey guys, I just got home from my girlfriends house.

I had a pretty crazy night. She had a friend over that I used to have a crush on, and she got really upset because she said I was paying too much attention to her. :/

It's all good now, though. We talked it out.

Now I'm just hanging around until my guitar lesson, and downloading a Ramones album.

Did you see what that fraud guy said on the news? Give me a card with 50 quid on it, a DIY store and 2 hours and i could have you in Downing Street. I was like 'Eat that labour!'

Rothmans 05-25-2005 12:21 PM

how do you check your rep?

munky_magik 05-25-2005 12:21 PM
how do you check your rep?
Scroll to the bottom of your User CP.
My, it's been a while since I've said that.

I don't actually see the point of the ID cards, at all :-/
