So, what in you guys' opinion would be the top 15 essential Iron Maiden songs? I'm trying to make a list of songs (or albums) I plan to get, but I'm not sure I've got all the essentials a Maiden fangirl needs.
|
I always used to be disappointed with Remember Tomorrow, until I saw Bruce do it at Reading a couple of weeks ago. Really opened my eyes to how great that song is.

hm, top 15 Maiden songs. well i'll be here all day if i sit and figure out my top 15 so i'll take my fav from each album and 2 more :) Phantom Of The Opera Killers Hallowed Be Thy Name Where Eagles Dare Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Caught Somewhere In Time Infinite Dreams Tailgunner Afraid To Shoot Strangers Sign Of The Cross Futureal Blood Brothers Paschendale Powerslave Out Of The Silent Planet |
The only weak track on the S/T for me is Remember Tomorrow. I love Running Free simply because it's SO much fun to play on the bass. Guitarists might be a little miffed at the lack of solos, but that's never been a problem for me :(
And Killers has no skipping tracks, although I do sometimes go through Prodigal Sun just because it's right before Purgatory and I want to get to it NOW  |
has ol' Bruce ever sung Purgatory
|
Remember tomorrow is my second favourite track on S/T
and I have the same feeeling about purgatory...NOW DAMMIT! |

hello all i'm an iron maiden fan and i have a question on the song 2 minutes to midnight, some say that it was a song about the cold war and the "2 minutes to midnight" was the hands of a DoomsDay clock created by a magazine which is said to reach midnight if a nuclear war was at hand. just wanted to find out your interpretations and opinions on the song. although i'm not sure if this question was already posted as there are 460 pages.. and i cant check em all

I don't know whether it was the Cold War or not it was based on, but I'm sure that could be the case. I've never liked that song too much. |
IF you look at the cover of the single for 2 minutes to midnight, you will see 9 flags. These flags are , the US, afghanistan, iran, iraq, cuba, USSR, Argentina, UK, and Isreal. They are not there by accident. At the time all of these countrys were in "war". The USSr had invaded afghanistan in 79' but only started to pull troops out in 88'. Iran and Iraq were at war with each other. Cuba was engaged in a conflict with Angola. And the US as well as the UK and USSr were guility ( and stilla are ) of delivering major weapons around the world. And, israel was still in war at the time. The whole concept of this song is about war and destruction, therefore all these war-mohnger countrys were put on the sleeve.
But, the cold war was the biggest theme of em all for this song. Aswell as the guy before me said about the doomsday clock. |
15 songs is way to little to do...
There's so many amazing ones, 30 might be more accurate. |

so guys, what do you think is the best album artwork of Maidens?
for me it would probably be Somwhere In Time because of all the hidden things in it |
I like X-Factor's, the inside artwork, that is.
Actually, Bruce's new album artwork is superb. |
Somewhere In Time for me as well. Although I do like Powerslave, and Death On The Roads artwork is pretty cool. The T-shirts in the post cant wait, that should look good. Seventh Son and Live After Death are good as well. And the Trooper artwork.
|
Oh that was awesome...
two more tracks /melts |
**the trooper ends**
Bruce: "well, that rocked didn't it." |
OMG...that was the greatest song radio one will ever play.
That's the greatest song ever written |
ah
the trooper run to the hills and hallowed be thy name never has a radio station had such a great three songs |
Best Maiden artwork = Powerslave
so much detail |
maiden rocked Radio One crazy stylee.
i think Seventh Son is probably the best/most memorable album cover. |

The Number Of The Beast album artwork is pretty cool. Philosophical.
Of course, the Women In Uniform and Sanctuary sleeves were pretty cool too. |
The Number Of The Beast album artwork is pretty cool. Philosophical.
That's my favorite, but what does it mean? I've always thought it means Eddie controls Satan, Satan controls man. |
SSOASS or SIT have the best artwork methinks.
Though Iced Earth own Maiden in artwork catergory. |
The live after death artwork always amazed me. I just love the contrast between the yellow and blue.Tis magnificent
|
The RiR artwork kicks pretty hard butt...especially with the holographic cover. Spooky.

Steve said he likes it because of the ambiguity of who controls who, as Eddie controls satan, but satan controls a little eddie. |
