Aaron 06-09-2009 11:40 PM

Yep. Haz I replied to you and Rasputin further on the Men Of The Cloth EP comments page.

Is it odd that I consider Catfight On A Hotdog a metal band?

gaslight 06-09-2009 11:43 PM

Haha yes it is odd.

Aaron 06-09-2009 11:45 PM

I think, when you remove the idea of vocals from metal, there's huge similarities between my music and a lot of metal bands. Similar textures and composure styles.

gaslight 06-09-2009 11:52 PM

Hmm. I couldn't really put it down as metal. I think metal needs the distorted guitars, riffs and so on.

Aaron 06-09-2009 11:59 PM

If I added blast-beats over half my stuff you'd probably call it metal, I just used different rhythmic structures to most metal bands. I do have distorted guitar in a lot of my stuff, but it's more in the Boris and Sun O))) style of playing than in the Bleeding Through or Between The Buried and Me widdley-widdley style.

gaslight 06-10-2009 12:01 AM

It's true about blast-beats, they're basically the just-add-water of metal.

*Shudder.*

Aaron 06-10-2009 12:24 AM

Some of use of it can be good, but when that's the default groove it's irritating.

gaslight 06-10-2009 12:26 AM

I'd say 99 times in 100 it's bad but that stat is stretched by the inordinate amount of terrible metal bands running around in the world.

nevertoolate 06-10-2009 12:33 AM

Afternoon all............

Aaron 06-10-2009 12:36 AM
I'd say 99 times in 100 it's bad but that stat is stretched by the inordinate amount of terrible metal bands running around in the world.
There's a direct correlation between the amount of bad metal bands and the amount of bad usage of blast beats, however correlation does not equal causation.

gaslight 06-10-2009 12:42 AM

I'd say the causation is lousy parenting or faulty chromosomes.

nevertoolate 06-10-2009 12:47 AM

speaking of chromosomes, anyone watch talkin bout your generation last night?

gaslight 06-10-2009 12:51 AM

Beatiful segue but no I didn't. Haha.

Aaron 06-10-2009 12:51 AM

Yeah that was serious class, haha. I had it one while attempting to study/playing peggle.

nevertoolate 06-10-2009 12:54 AM

I just find Shaun Micallef to be a very funny man. Makes me laugh hard. js

gaslight 06-10-2009 12:57 AM

Oh he's awesome. Remember a show called The Micallef Program?

nevertoolate 06-10-2009 01:01 AM

yeah that was so damn funny. Milo Kerrigan was good. He did a few skits where he would have the set upside down or sideways man that looked funny.

gaslight 06-10-2009 01:03 AM

Blast from the past that show. Must have been nearly ten years ago by now. It trips me out that I'm old enough to talk about stuff happening "ten years ago" without it being early childhood.

Yeah, I remember one where the set slowly rotated, but the camera was fixed so you didn't realize until things started sliding off his desk and his tie started pointing sideways.
