Happy birthday! :chug:
Thanks everybody! And to answer the Ashtray Girl's question, there were 17 candles on my cake.

So I got Frances The Mute today, and I just listened to it for the first time. I'm kind of blown away at the moment. It's quite an album.

Death From Above 1979 was on Conan last night.

Conan kept talking about how it was the greatest band name ever, and he probably had a point there. I didn't know it was just drums-and-bass, but the really cool part was when the drummer/singer left the kit to go to another mic, and then Max Weinberg jumped onstage and took over the drumming. COOL!

pixiesfanyo 03-12-2005 04:21 PM

Lightning Bolt is a cooler bass-drum duo.

:p

Max Weinberg took over the drumming? That crazy son of a bitch!

pinkyeti 03-12-2005 04:30 PM

Who's Max Weinberg?

Zappa 03-12-2005 04:33 PM

Drummer/bandleader for the house band on Late Night With Conan O'Brien.

br3ad_man 03-12-2005 07:22 PM

I've got the biggest week coming up. On Wednesday, I have to get to school at 7:30 for band and then I'm at school until 7 PM because a studio engineer guy is coming to teach me and my friend how to record properly. It will be so cool.
It's very much a grower, you may get it after a few more listens.
'

It is? I liked the band and the album immediatly.
Lightning Bolt is a cooler bass-drum duo.

:p
Yes :)

leiferikson 03-12-2005 07:33 PM

I touched a rickenbacker 4003 for the first time today and I wet myself (figuratively speaking). I then stood there for about 10 mins just looking it with a sorry expression on my face in the vain hope the shopkeeper would feel pity for me and let me have it for free. £1700! Thats more than what my car cost :(

I took a painkiller for my wisdom teeth being pullled. (oxycod) is it normal to feel chest pain?
Has anyone ever eaten Chinese food, and then farted 30 minutes later and it smells just like Chinese food?
I just came from a Chinese buffet restaurant awhile ago, my fart smells fine.

Watching Spongebob the movie is strangely satisfying.

JonM 03-12-2005 09:45 PM

The show was un-fucking-believable. I'll have the recording soon.

They don't seem to mention chest pain, other than heart-beat issues. If it continues though, it's better to be safe than sorry and go see your doctor.

I think I changed my avatar already today, but I didn't really like the Cecil Taylor one. Just didn't really "pop," if you know what I mean.

I have since fallen in love with Far East Suite, so this avatar seems appropriate.

br3ad_man 03-12-2005 10:54 PM

Zappa has the best avatars on the site, aside from mine.

Zappa 03-12-2005 11:08 PM

Please help me, which of these band names sucks the least? Flite, or El Gato Negro. Or do they suck as much as eachother?

pixiesfanyo 03-13-2005 07:47 AM

The Cat ******?

leiferikson 03-13-2005 07:54 AM

the black cat, silly. If thats what came to mind when you saw it though i guess that means it sucks the most
Please help me, which of these band names sucks the least? Flite, or El Gato Negro. Or do they suck as much as eachother?
Both suck, but the negro one is worst.

leiferikson 03-13-2005 08:07 AM

Yes the negro one does suck, it wasnt my idea. We were called Kino Eye (anyone who has studied soviet cinema from the 1920s should know what it is) but turned out it was taken by some unsigned band in texas. The drummer says the negro one, i suggested flite. I actually like flite (its a cinematic orchestra song btw), its not crap or anything, just not very interesting. If Blur never existed and i suggested blur as a name people would probably say that sucks too.

Surely this finally proves drummers are idiots. Also, I went to London with her yesterday (yes its a girl drummer) and she refused to take the tube, this ended up in us going in the wrong direction on the bus for 90 minutes. At least we got to see the many delights of Pimlico
