Anyways, I was thinking about this whole competition thing, and I really think that if we don't do one of Tool's 'supertracks' we won't do as well as we could. I'm not saying that we shouldn't do the ones we're doing now, but I think it's going to be necesarry to tackle something like Lateralus or dare I say it, Third Eye. I think we have enough people with enough talent to pull something of that caliber off, but it would definitely be tough. :-/

Lateralus
Schism
Stinkfist
Eulogy

Any of those, we should probably stick to the less-obscure stuff, because it's extremely hard to pull of the Tool-esque sounds on stuff like Reflection and Third Eye.

Parabol/a gets my vote. Or Ticks and Leeches.

I go onto the Dissectional website, and I was thinking. Wouldn't it be cool if Tool secretly put clips of their new songs hidden in the website?

Also, I don't know if the website is frozen, or I stumbled onto something, but....I'm on Dissectional. It was at the loading screen, and it froze on "96%", kinda weird. Also, the background music/noise sounds really weird. It has a mix of the breathing typoe sound from the beginning of Aenima(the song), and some weird rotating sound, and a bunch of other crap. Also, if I move my mouse around, it turns into the hand a certain places(showing that you can click something), but nothing happens. Weird.

I also found a video game called Maynard's Dic[B]k[/B] in Dissectional. It has a weird version of Aenima, and the game is basically pacman.

Yeah, I just threw out Third Eye as an example. I think we've been totally overlooking Eulogy. It'd be a great track to do. I also talked to Chris/307/numbers/Jenny the 1st day of the lockdown, and he said that he wanted to do Eulogy. I think that would be lovely.

Not so sure about Schism, though. :-/ Everyone has heard Schism, so it would be hard to cover because many people would have a preset disposition about the song. It would either be "I've heard that song, and I don't like it" or "I've heard that song, and the original is better." It could be different, but that's just my .02.

i never got an answer about the drum tracks. are we gonna record to the cd or to the bassline joz laid down?

JoZ said that he wanted to redo them anyways, so I think we should play to the drum tracks.

To whoever mentioned doing Ticks&Leeches- How would you plan on doing vocals? I mean, it could be done, but with fairly tremendous side-effects. :p Remember, Maynard couldn't speak for 3 weeks after recording that. We could do it by perhaps modifying it, by doing a different kind of scream, and that may actually be better. It would show more originality. Feedback, plzkthx

I just rerecorded Sober, but I don't want to upload it until later on tonight. I tried to sync it with JoZ's, but I am starting to think that there is something wrong with my computer or soundcard. I played exactly with the track, but I played it back, and the timing was good in the beginning, but it gradually began to slow down. I then tried to mess with the speed, and made it somewhat better, but still of bad quality. :-/ Anyone have a quick fix?

There's the song you should do instead for it.

I would love to do that song, but I doubt it could be pulled off. You can't really learn that song going note by note. It's just one 3 minute atmosphere. :p

I still think you guys should do Parabol/a. It would definatly be awesome if done well. And I think its one of the few you guys could do properly. Stinkfist would be done well, but its a fairly basic song... nothing incredible. Lateralus would be amazing but thats also a hard song to do... anyways you get what I'm saying.

I would want to do Parabol/a, but I seem to recall that no one here had figured out the guitar part completely, and I'm not going through the Drop-B hell again. If someone had a 7-string and could play it, that would be good.

Why not just buy a pack of 7 strings (for a sevan string guitar) and take off your low e and stick the b on. Thats what I do.

I have a Guitar Mag where they have it tabbed out. Most of it is correct except for one part, but I know how to play that part perfectly. So, if you need help in figuring it out, just ask.

parabola and lateralus are really good choices. can we figure out what songs we are gonna do before i record one though?
