Khan is a one man wrecking crew. Just amazing.
So I just went to this 5 storey high Saturn (Like Best Buy or Harvey Norman) and the entire top level was dedicated to music and movies. I found probably the biggest "major retailer" metal section I have ever seen, so I picked up a couple of bargains. If I had more money or lived in Hamburg I would probably have bought a whole lot more. You can tell Germans love their power metal, since all sorts of fairly unknown artists were represented (except no Skyclad or Lost Horizon :-/) and it might also be the only country to feature more Manowar than Metallica.
How much was the average CD?

Tyler 02-18-2008 04:04 PM

Germany is the home to man[y]-o-war conventions.

My favorite is Nuremberg.

Mine is Auschwitz-Birkenau tbqh

Poet 02-18-2008 09:54 PM

I wouldn't consider them Power Metal, but Tarot's I Rule kicks epic ***. Power metal is epic, so yeah, they go together

Does it have Christopher Lee singing in German?

Tyler 02-19-2008 02:43 AM
Does it have Christopher Lee singing in German?
Yep

BludgeonySteve 02-19-2008 02:50 AM

That song wins at music.

Tyler 02-19-2008 03:09 AM

I like the French and Italian versions more

Riva 02-19-2008 06:09 AM

Average price was €6.99

There was this band called Dionysous, and I cannot remember the name of the album, but they were obviously power metal. In any case, the album art featured a rather poorly photoshopped temple with a stone statue of a king in the centre. Now, I am not sure if this is somehow related to the album, or if the graphic artist was just to lazy to draw an original head with a crown on it, but they have photoshopped the head Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn onto this statue.

It is the exact same face as the movie posters have, you have all most likely seen it before. I was tempted to buy the album just so I could keep giggling at it during the flight home. Funniest album art I have ever seen.

The magic of Metal Archives.

Poet 02-19-2008 06:34 AM

I don't know what is funnier about that, the album art, or the fact that they have all these Power metal esque song titles but also have a title of What.

I have a live video they did for that for some German TV show. Absolutely hilarious.

Gemeinsam mit der italienische Band Rhapsody, Christopher Lee!

Deth 02-19-2008 01:01 PM

That ruled so hard that I now have to listen to Symphony Pt. 2. It's been far too long.

BludgeonySteve 02-20-2008 08:03 AM

Tarja Turunen needs to record a version of Poet and The Pendulum. Her voice is much better suited for it.

Shattered_Future 02-20-2008 11:30 AM

Yes it is. Annette's version was probably one of the best things vocally she did on that album, but that's totally a Tarja song. Having Annette sing the high parts in the very beginning was a bad idea...

Hell, even Marco's ****in' demo version is a bit better than Annette for the chorus.

EDIT: I never noticed it before, but it looks like they're totally lip-syncing in that Rhapsody video.

pate 02-20-2008 11:33 AM

I like Annette's voice more than Tarja's.

Shattered_Future 02-20-2008 11:41 AM

Tarja had the accent thing to bring her down a bit (it's glaringly apparent on End Of An Era), but I still think she has a much better voice that's much better suited for the music.
