Yeah. I want something I'll get 4/5 years out of, not something I'll keep for ever.

Stevie 08-23-2011 06:28 AM

is that a diesel?

nevertoolate 08-23-2011 06:30 AM

251,000 k's isn't bad for a 13 year old car tho, considering that the average yearly mileage is around the 20,000 k mark. But yeah I would try and find something that done a little less

@ stevie - no its not, i would probably recommend a diesel tho, they are just nicely run in by the 250,00 mark lol

Stevie 08-23-2011 06:30 AM

probably either way i'd say yes....
idk
it doesn't say diesel/petrol but diesels are supposed to survive higher mileages better

nevertoolate 08-23-2011 06:36 AM

yes they do Stevie, I own a diesel and love it. I get over 1,000 k's (620 miles) out of one tank of diesel. and being a small car and turbo, goes very well. i'm a big advocate on diesel

Aaron 08-23-2011 06:37 AM

Yeah mum loves hers too. She gets the shifts at the bowser with how slow it is to fill though lol.

nevertoolate 08-23-2011 06:41 AM

really? i've never had a drama, maybe she should try the high flow truck diesel bowser lol

Stevie 08-23-2011 06:41 AM

when i gets me a car it's gunna be a diesel no doubt

Aaron 08-23-2011 06:42 AM

Wait, maybe it was her lemon of an LPG she had last year.. Hmm. Even though her work pays for fuel she still insists on going from 100% tank capacity to 8 to 5% capacity before refill.

nevertoolate 08-23-2011 06:44 AM

I tend to just fill up fortnightly regardless of how much is left its not good to run em too dry
when i gets me a car it's gunna be a diesel no doubt
are diesels popular in the states? they are slowly catching on here and are huge in Europe

diesel isn't very popular from what i've seen so far. since the gas prices are insanely low compared to the rest of the world. very few stations have diesel so there is a good chance of you getting stuck with a diesel car.

nevertoolate 08-23-2011 07:15 AM

what is the average price for gas? ours had a massive jump a few years ago and has never gone back down

Ventriloquist 08-23-2011 07:36 AM

it's around $3.59 - 3.62 per gallon here.

Stevie 08-23-2011 07:44 AM

after a bit of conversion you'd be looking at $8.68 per gallon here

nevertoolate 08-23-2011 07:53 AM

we are in between both at 5.67 a gallon so not too bad in comparison

adbforever 08-23-2011 08:15 AM

it is $9/gallon in Turkey. Didn't know it was that bad in the UK. Was a bit better when I was there but I didn't have a car so didn't really pay attention. I like how people in the US complain about gas prices, then again it used to be even cheaper lol.

Pechorin 08-23-2011 08:29 AM

Elderbrent where are you again?

In the US it varies state by state. It was about $3.49 in Georgia when I left a week and a half ago, as low as $3.19 in rural Virginia on the way up to school, and in Long Island it averages about $3.89. From what I see, it's about $4.19+ in NYC.

Also Aaron, Audis are supposed to be good cars that hold their resale value well. And AWD is a nice feature, though I hear it can add to maintenance costs... If you're looking for something just to use for a couple years, I'd do it though.

Drugstep 08-23-2011 08:29 AM

its like $3.30 a gallon here

Ventriloquist 08-23-2011 08:31 AM

nyc is fucked up

Pechorin 08-23-2011 08:33 AM
nyc is fucked up
Agreed. Don't even think about tolls. The Verrazano-Narrows bridge is $13.00 one way, and most of the tunnels and the George Washington Bridge into the city from Jersey are all $8.00 one way. Then some of the "cheaper" tolls of $5.50 or $6.00 are charged both ways. And all of these bridges are falling apart.

Ventriloquist 08-23-2011 08:36 AM

haha yeah you're basically fucked if you're coming via verrazano and goethals to NJ. Work pays for my EZ pass tho, that's a lot of win for me.

Pechorin 08-23-2011 08:43 AM

Thing is unless you want to go through Midtown via the Queens-Midtown/Lincoln or lower Manhattan right through goddamn Chinatown on the Manhattan Bridge/Holland, you're fucked. You either need to go way out of your way up through the Bronx or you have to go through Staten Island. And the girl is slowly realizing why I never drive out to see her in Hoboken...

If your work pays for your EZpass, you're a lucky bastard.

Ventriloquist 08-23-2011 09:07 AM

I went through holland and chinatown for the Pentagram gig I went on Sunday. Took me 45 minutes to get to the Holland tunnel, but I literally spent an hour and a half in the traffic. It was raining and for some fucked up reason they were doing road work under pouring rain. Oh best part was there was a road block at the ONLY turning spot I needed to use to park my car. So I had to make a u-turn like a mile away which lead to even more traffic.

GottaPost 08-23-2011 09:21 AM

driving in traffic is the wurst

Shit I was going through there same night coming back from Ocean City. That stupid roundabout on the Manhattan side sucks too. For the Brooklyn 'exit,' there's always a nasty choke point because the police park their cars at the end the right lane of the ramp...

You know what else sucks is the fucking BQE. Especially the Kosciuszko Bridge...

best thing is all the cab drivers raging with their horns. it's like an indian battle cry.
