The Cynic 01-18-2006 09:22 PM

I never really realized how hard some of the songs on AYDY until I decided to learn them. D@MN YOU ALEXI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a little something called mx.

I was in the store yesterday contemplating whether or not to buy an album of a band I'd never heard of. I realized I was too jewish to risk my money like that so I got Demons & Wizards.
What band was it?

Shadows 01-18-2006 09:54 PM
I actually find a lot of bands just by buying their albums. I don't understand how so many of you people find all the bands you like.
I read around, use metal archives, take suggestions from others, and download anything that looks like it may be interesting. Mx has played a huge role in what I listen to. Without it, I never heard of any of the music I like now, so I guess I owe my whole musical future to those who have introduced me to metal around here. :)

King_Of_Terrors 01-18-2006 09:59 PM

Same here.

Except I already knew about Symphony X, Sonata Arctica, and Jag Panzer.

They were my first metal bands...not Slipnut for me, bitches!

The Sandman 01-18-2006 11:47 PM

Purely out of interest, does anyone have the tabs to Extreme Pentatonics by Rusty Cooley?

If anyone does, could they please send it to me? I would be eternally grateful if someone could.

You did confess that you thought brad from linkin park was god with the guitar when you were younger.

Slipknot > Linkin Park

There is a thread in the guitar forum which has links to that book and many more. It shouldn't be hard to find.

Shattered_Future 01-19-2006 02:18 PM

I got some shirts yesterday. Hooray for supporting! :)

I've bought CDs purely by word of mouth...9 times out of 10, it turns out to be a good idea.

MRDuCran 01-19-2006 03:21 PM

I can't believe you guys haven't seen it.

Shadows 01-19-2006 03:40 PM

I've seen it. I lost it when my computer crashed. I asked for someone to send it and nobody did, so I'm assuming either nobody has it or all the regulars here are selfish bastards.

Britton 01-19-2006 03:43 PM

I have one little 15 minute clip

MRDuCran 01-19-2006 03:52 PM

I have a cut down version that I made myself of just the Vivaldi example and the jam thing if anyone wants that. It DOESN'T have him playing everything slow because I didn't need it.

Britton 01-19-2006 04:05 PM

Hmm I guess I'll take it.

Is there a tab for it?

also I'm trying to set this as the backround for my myspace

http://www.viciouscircle.fr/images%20boutique/bt-children-of-bodom-hate-a.gif

But I need it to be much bigger and I have to clue how to re-format GIF files....help?

MRDuCran 01-19-2006 04:08 PM

If you don't want it I won't bother uploading it.
There is a Guitar Pro tab of the Vivaldi thing but not the jam.
I don't know how to resize gifs but you can just search for Children of Bodom on Google images and see if there's one similar.

IheartSP 01-19-2006 04:24 PM

Wow they really hate me over in the Power Metal thread...

First I get yelled at for trying to plead my case that Iced Earth is closer to Thrash (melodic stuff like Metallica not raw stuff like Slayer) than Power Metal. Then Lord Abortion says "my opinion sucks" for not liking Blaze Bailey in Iron Maiden.

Lil’ Bloodred Ridin’ Hood 01-19-2006 04:28 PM

can someone give my firend alot of cob songs

I don't know how to make them smaller, the program I use isn't very detailed, it won't even let me slow down the transition between each frame so everything has to be in real time. I might try and get a different one.

IheartSP 01-19-2006 05:14 PM

Well Riva sucessfully made me resign from ever posting in the Power Metal thread again. I used to respect him too, but now I think he's just being ridiculous.

Lil’ Bloodred Ridin’ Hood 01-19-2006 05:16 PM

idk his sn he just im's me hes not on my list but maybe i can find it or something

A bit of a scuffle in the Power Metal thread...

First a few days ago I brought up my point about how Iced Earth is considered Power Metal a little too easily, and I thought that they were closer to melodic thrash stuff like Metallica in their prime. Everyone acted like I just said the dumbest thing ever yet I had a well thought out point that was backed up with as much evidence as I could, yet still people just flamed the hell out of me.

Then today we were talking about Iron Maiden in there and Riva said this is the Power Metal thread why are we talking about Maiden. Most people agreed that they were a big influence on Power Metal and that they should be allowed to be talked about in there, and I said they are about as Power Metal as Iced Earth. Riva then goes into this completely BS argument about how Maiden is closer to Melodic Death than they are Power Metal. I said Maiden sounds A LOT closer to Dragonforce than Arch Enemy, and first thing he says is suttin like Arch Enemy is garabge, I thought that was especially rude. Then he goes into this completely overgeneralized analysis on how Maiden is more like melodeath.

I agree with you he did get a little crazy

Silenius 01-19-2006 05:24 PM

Ever notice how almost all arguments arise over what genre a band is, not how good their music is?

IheartSP 01-19-2006 05:26 PM

Yeah but even beside the genre argument he said Arch Enemy sucks. That's gotta be the most elitist comment I've ever heard, he thinks he's so "above" bands like Bodom and Arch Enemy just becuase they are so mainstream in Metal now.

podbassist 01-19-2006 05:28 PM

Arcxh enemys music is good but but their lyrics suck

IheartSP 01-19-2006 05:29 PM

Most bands with harsh vocals have bad lyrics, look at Bodom.

Strange. I didn't even know Riva knew much about metal. It sounds like he blew up over absolutely nothing. Some people around here are just like that, and I'm surprised it was Riva. He's usually much more reasonable then that.

As for Maiden being closer to melodic death then power metal, that's obviously false. It only takes a quick glimpse of each genre to realize that.
Ever notice how almost all arguments arise over what genre a band is, not how good their music is?
Yes, it's all quite pointless. I', somewhat of a genre nazi myself, but even I get tired of all of it when it gets extreme.
Most bands with harsh vocals have bad lyrics, look at Bodom.
Don't generalize like that!

hey, this is a BODOM thread - and i disagree

IheartSP 01-19-2006 05:31 PM

Riva as far as I've known him is a huge fan of Power Metal, and acts all "tr00" by calling us fanboys. Whenever i mention Bodom in there he or someone else makes a comment.

hey, this is a BODOM thread - and i disagree
lol well most of us here would agree that Bodom could do a bit better with their lyrics. Some of them are okay but in general it's just a lot of screw you screw everyone I hate stuff (to be general about it).

MRDuCran 01-19-2006 05:33 PM

No wonder Alexi hates the internet and the ignorant people involed with it.
