update, but it's clearing my hard drive. so, basically complete reinstall.

not a bad deal for 20 bucks.

you can buy an upgrade, depending on whether you use 32-bit or 64-bit.
I did an upgrade and it kept all of my files and settings from vista

Apparently if you do a custom install from XP, it'll put all your files in a folder called windows.old ... I backed up my music and shool stuff on my external though, just in case.

Can you upgrade from XP or Vista? I thought it was a Vista-only upgrade.

In any case, I can't get Windows on my computer because XP wont recognize my sata harddrives and I can't find a working Vista copy. Anybody have a Vista install disc they'd like to throw my way?

Tonight, I'm going to attempt to chemically strip the chrome from my control plate of my MM Stingray. If it works, I will then dye it black. If it all works well, I will move onto the knobs, the string tree, the tuner ears, and eventually **gulp** the bridge.

EBMM has been less than helpful in regards to obtaining some of their black hardware (which they do make...I even offered to send in my original Stingray hardware & pay for all new hardware to avoid potential copyright problems....and they just wouldn't have it).

I thought it was only from vista too, but you just have to do a custom install and you can upgrade directly from XP.

Without a floppy drive, Windows wont let me install XP, which is BS. I just need a vista cd.
wut?
I only have SATA hard drives in my new computer, and windows XP predates SATA technology. It requires a 3rd party RAID controller, and from the looks of it, it will only recognize a floppy drive as the medium for a 3rd party driver.

BenJammin 11-04-2009 02:35 PM

Huh. I did not know that. I installed a Windows XP partition on my Mac, from CD, without any problems.

The upgrade packages contain both 32-bit and 64-bit options.

BenJammin 11-04-2009 03:24 PM

I'm bored.

Efrim 11-04-2009 03:39 PM

get a job.
speaking of which:
did you get that teaching job?

BenJammin 11-04-2009 03:44 PM

Negative. I've got nothing atm.

I'm going back to my old job for 8-10 days to help with a sale... hopefully 60 hours total or so. It'll be enough to stave me off for another couple of months.

gaslight 11-04-2009 03:57 PM

You can live for a few months on 60 hours of work? Must be a sweet job.
You can live for a few months on 60 hours of work? Must be a sweet job.
Few =/= couple.

Few months = 4+

Couple = 2

I'll bank enough money to pay for nearly 2 months of rent. The rest I'll make up doing odd jobs or selling **** off.

Feels bad man, but some money is better than no money. When are the decisions made about your grad school applications?

BenJammin 11-04-2009 04:23 PM

I'm not sure, tbqh. I'm not entirely sure I'm going next year, yet.

Spaceman Spiff 11-04-2009 04:32 PM

Jesse, how was the Six Finger Satellite show? I couldn't make it to their Toronto show because I had to work.

Really, really good. They are pretty wicked live actually.
Got a cool poster with a free album download as well.
