Wow, definitely no enthusiasm there...I take it you guys aren't fans of any of the In Flames or Children of Bodom style metal either?
|
Nah In Flames is pretty gay. Children of Bodom are one of the worst power metal bands I have ever heard.
|
Soilwork is pretty meh for me, I do enjoy old In Flames from time to time though. :)
|
Well then. I'll make sure not to mention them around you, lol. Do most of the guys around here frown upon those bands? I did notice a COB thread...
@Cocaine, sorry. |
but i mean someone who says SOtS is their favourite ATG release would like such boyish, over-saturated garbage so right on

nah people like them for some reason
Dude Tyler chill lol. People ARE entitled to their own opinions y' know. :p |
I think they're alright. Alexi's a pretty good guitarist, and they've got a hell of a keyboard player.
|
Dude Tyler chill lol. People ARE entitled to their own opinions y' know. :p
Of course they are but I'm pretty passionate in my hate for what I consider to be bland and uninspired garbage. |
Tyler is just being Tyler...
|
Who makes out with Alexi after shows.
@keyboardist |
Their solos and keyboards don't make any sense or fit the music at all.
|
Everyone's got a different opinion I guess, lol. I'm not a huge fan or anything but I do listen to them from time to time. Hatebreeder was good, as was Follow the Reaper.
The keyboards do seem out of place sometimes, especially on thier newer material. I stray away from thier last couple of releases though. |
I no longer have a band; my last band had a rather violent break-up and I subsequently took a hiatus after deleting our myspace and having some choice words (and fists) with a former member. We playeddeath metal with kind of a touch of black metal.
I play piano first and foremost, but also guitar and vocals. I've been interested in picking up bass as well, but haven't had the time as of late. I may try to start another band or go solo; I haven't decided yet.
Solo is the shit. Sometimes I'm in my room crying alone recording violent music but then again it makes you feel warm inside when you finish a song. |

|
Eh, ok...?
|
Nah In Flames is pretty gay. Children of Bodom are one of the worst power metal bands I have ever heard.
this. no offense to you Hrimthursum. |
None taken. I enjoy older albums from these bands, but not everyone enjoys what I do.
|
In Flames has some solid stuff. As for CoB, i can't really stomach them anymore. I used to be a big fan though a year or so ago.
|
What's your favorite In Flames release? For myself it would have to be Colony, though if the production of Lunar Strain was better it would be a tough call.
|
I think Lunar Strain or The Jester Race are my favorite.
|
The Jester Race is definitely worthy of mentioning. Something about Colony is just great to me though. Perhaps it's just the overall feel.
I think it's universal to say Lunar Strain was the greatest though. I just wish the quality was better, but I'm sure people have beat that point into the ground. You're a fan of Dark Tranquility then, I take it? |
Dark Tranquility are alright I guess, Autumn Leaves are where it's at for melodic death metal though. Seriously, As Night Conquers Day is probably my all time favorite melo death album.
|
Have not heard, will look into.
I'm a pretty big Dark Tranquility fan. Many solid albums, though the newest has some boring spots. |
I really hate melo-death. I haven't a heard a really good melo-death band... ever.
|
Really? Hmmm... not everyone's style I guess. I thoroughly enjoy old In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Dark Haven, Arch Enemy (Pre-Gossow), etc.
Arch Enemy seems to have fallen a bit though, in my opinion. |
Yeah Black Earth is leaps and bounds ahead of anything AE has done.
Fiction, DT latest, is pretty damn good. And Jester Race is my favorite In Flames album Early Soilwork is probably my favorite melo-death band though. |
I guess I'm the only person in the world who loves Come Clarity. :(
|
I guess I'm the only person in the world who loves Come Clarity. :(
Yeah, probably. |
I do not like that album at all. The title track is kindof cool, but other than that, it's a horribly bland album to me.
|
Plus Anders is a terrible vocalist nowadays.
|
I really hate melo-death. I haven't a heard a really good melo-death band... ever.
Eucharist? Intestine Baalism? Arghoslent? |
I never thought he was exactly the greatest in the beginning, lol.
@Angmar |
Masterchaos, 23-17=6=1st grade. Do your math before you insult others, you flaming retard. Oh, and Kerry King does nothing but shred in chromatic scales, employing no use of theory whatsoever. Half of his **** is shredding improv. He is the dirt underneath other guitarists feet, and I make that statement with absolute conviction.
Hmm, your myspace said 22 yrs old. and you didnt specify if it was 16 or 17 years you'd been playing...maybe your b-day was today, and if not that would make you 5 if we want to get really technical you flaming retard :naughty: About the King comment...You dont think I already know that? KK is one of the worst "lead" guitarist to grace a metal band and through you extensive years of guitar playing I would expect more than shitty improv solos out of you. |
Eucharist? Intestine Baalism? Arghoslent?
Yeah Matt you would probably like Intestine Baalism. |
Arghoslent and Intestine Baalism win. Dismember's God That Never Was is melodic death too, I dont care what anyone says.
|
Like an Everflowing Stream was exceptional.
Anyone listen to Immolation? I have Harnessing Ruin, it's pretty good. |
It has a good deal of melody yes, and the more the album goes along the more melodic it gets, it could be labeled melo-death I guess, it just isn't as obviously melo-death as a lot of other bands/albums.
|
So I heard this Sworn Enemy song called Weathering the Storm (I think) and it was quite enjoyable...I know they arent death metal but they're a hell of a lot more metal than hardcore now.
|
I ****ing hate Sworn Enemy. They put on one of the worst live shows I have ever been witness to.
|
wouldnt doubt it, but that song was good.
