all of x-factor is brilliant

it's criminally underrated
They should re-record it with Bruces' voice.

Deth 05-05-2005 08:40 AM

That would suck for Blaze though.

Lord Abortion 05-05-2005 08:42 AM
That would suck for Blaze though.
yeah his voice suits these songs very well

blaze SOTC beats the bruce version IMO

Deth 05-05-2005 08:46 AM

I haven't heard Bruce's version.

Lord Abortion 05-05-2005 08:56 AM

on rock in rio?

amateurbassist 05-05-2005 10:05 AM

NP: PAIN FOR PLEASURE
They should re-record it with Bruces' voice.
Nah, methinks Bruces voice isn't dark enough.

Blaze is a good singer, just we got used to bruce and you can't replace bruce.

Thunder Fingers 05-05-2005 11:08 AM

Bruce goes live, i dont think a studio version with him would be the right "mood"

Josh 05-05-2005 02:45 PM

as I can't be arsed to text you, if you read this tonight (Thursday), bring X-Factor and Virtual XI in tomorrow please.
kthxbai

i've heard both versions of SOTC, and IMO also Blaze sounds better on it, much darker / more evil

rik 05-05-2005 02:53 PM

I've never actually heard the blaze version of SOTC, only listened to it on rock in rio.

Hint for someone to try and upload it.

Josh 05-05-2005 02:56 PM

I don't have either of the Blaze albums on my PC (hence why I want to borrow them from Lord Abortion)

in case you didn't know, the glass prison (dream theater) has been uploaded by someone in the YSI thread.

rik 05-05-2005 02:59 PM

Yer thanks mate, I saw it earlier.

Thunder Fingers 05-05-2005 03:00 PM

SOTC is on its way ;)

Josh 05-05-2005 03:01 PM

i will grab SOTC when its up as well :)
some guy in the YSI thread wants POTO, so I'm uploading that at the moment as well.
I think that Steve Harris is definitely better than Cliff Burton, both skill wise and influentially. Harris made the bass a lot more important than it previously was in metal. Also, I think Cliff Burton is a horribly overrated bassist and this is coming from someone who likes both Iron Maiden and Metallica. I'd like someone to give me a reason why Cliff Burton was one of the best bassists ever because I think that he is undoubtedly a good bassist, but I don't think he is anything more.
See, those are my thoughts exactly, but I worry that if it came down to a poll, people would vote for Burton over Harris due to Metallica fanboyism.

Maybe I'll have to put Burton and Newsted in the same poll to divide the fanboys .

Josh 05-05-2005 03:06 PM

that would be a good start...and put Harris in with loads of bassists no-one's ever heard of

Thunder Fingers 05-05-2005 03:08 PM

newsted would have gooten my vote, he have an awsome live style, and plays pretty good to...

Josh 05-05-2005 03:13 PM

Newsted is also a good singer, he used to sing some whole songs live for 'Tallica...but lets not make this the Metallica thread II  Steve Harris p'wns all other bassists, not just for his playing but also for his songwriting.

Thunder Fingers 05-05-2005 03:15 PM

I love Seek and destroy with newsted, thats 'kin awsome... otherwise the song tend to bore me...

Josh 05-05-2005 03:16 PM

I haven't heard it with Newsted playing...thanks for SOTC, downloading now. anyway, i'm off, so bye all

Lord Abortion 05-05-2005 04:03 PM

and heyho... where is hallowed be thy name?- the greatest song of all time

blue3 05-06-2005 12:57 AM

Hallowed Be Thy Name is a great song.

I just saw the Number of the Beast video on the MuchMoreMusic channel. It's probably the first time I've seen a Maiden video on TV...

Lord Abortion 05-06-2005 04:37 AM
Hallowed Be Thy Name is the best song ever
