Your post counts going through the roof today.

So...how about them basses with 6 pots, 3 switches, and two of those slider things for series/parallel?

Radiobass81 09-18-2004 09:21 PM

Let's try to actually place a topic...

GeezerRULEZ 09-18-2004 09:24 PM

What is the most versatile bass anyone can think of? (and my post count is shooting up...lol)

popinfresh 09-18-2004 09:25 PM
So...how about them basses with 6 pots, 3 switches, and two of those slider things for series/parallel?

GeezerRULEZ 09-18-2004 09:27 PM

I woulds have to say the Fender J-Bass because I have seen those things in almost any genre. Claypool has a J-Bass, Bassist/Singer of Starting Line, Many Funk Players, Punk Bassists, etc.

Wal, followed by a G&L.

GeezerRULEZ 09-18-2004 09:30 PM

And why do you say that?

Foxfire 09-18-2004 09:31 PM

My Conklin, when I get around to getting it custom wired, will pwn all.

And Radiobass, do you think a DB-500 that's refurbished B-stock is worth 320 USD + shipping?

popinfresh 09-18-2004 09:32 PM

G&L's are **** versatile. I'd say them for mass produced basses. Then theres customs.

I don't want a great versatile bass though really, I still want a G&L one day. I'd rather have more than one bass though that are great at certain things.

Radiobass81 09-18-2004 09:33 PM

To the above: Why do I say that the Wal is versatile or the G&L? Or both?

It won't own my future Wal... Just wait a long time for it.

And, B-stock just means it's repackaged. Yeah, it's worth it.

I bought it for $400.... :upset:

Your Right. I would to. But a jobless teen like myself can't actuallly afford a bass for everything he does. He can only upgrade the one he has.

How many of you guys are into therory?

gaslight 09-18-2004 09:37 PM

Have anyone ever tried drawing the bass they want?

I'm bored and I thought I might start trying to draw them.

I want a fretless Wal. The fact that Justin Chancellor alone makes me want one. I'd like a Conklin first. I'm 800 bucks away from my dream bass (modifications to my Conklin GT-7 :p).

So okay. When I get 350~ USD I'll pick me up a DB-500.

risbo 09-18-2004 09:37 PM

I've been learning to read bass from the bass clef in my old piano books all day. Yay for reading music.

Radiobass81 09-18-2004 09:38 PM

I use theory...

I had my friend (great at art) draw me a custom bass. It was beautiful. I wish I had a scanner and could show you all.

GeezerRULEZ 09-18-2004 09:38 PM

I am so taking music theory next year as an AP class.

I really wanna learn to improv well. My bass teacher is getting into that. He teaches me more theory than anything else...which is hella cool.

Yep, mine looks awesome. It's i'm sure about the core, maybe mahogany, and the laminates are going to be quilted/figured maple and zebra wood.

It looks kinda like a CT but not.

Foxfire 09-18-2004 09:41 PM

In all honesty I like to have a style that the luthier likes. In doing so, he's putting his own love of music and instruments into it.

And I'm not looking over his shoulder going "THAT should be like THAT."

Now INLAYS on the other hand...

GeezerRULEZ 09-18-2004 09:42 PM

My bass looks like the Anti-matter of claypool. I would make love to that bass.

I might regret asking this but... How do you plan on making love to a bass?
