Danger Bird 05-04-2007 05:18 PM

Why do people like Sid Vicious?

Rise Me Up 05-04-2007 07:15 PM

Same reason people idolize Darby Crash.

Ghostfire3 05-04-2007 07:18 PM

Because they're punk as fuck.
Reckon this would be too controversial to wear?

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y194/jondz3003/stayout.jpg

I dunno, the technician has left my screen in the sink for like a week and a half so far...
Yeah dude, that's ridiculous. That comes off as Muslim-bashing, not many people will understand that that's anti-terrorism. Are you even sure it is? You're giving off some xenophobic vibes. Vibes, have you.

That could be so easily misunderstood. I wouldn't do it.

IgniteYourAvail 05-04-2007 08:12 PM

That's a fu‪cking terrible shirt. Why would you even consider wearing it?

Danger Bird 05-04-2007 08:31 PM

Yeah I could see how that might not go over too well, unless you feel like stenciling a little disclaimer or something.

But it's wrong in so many ways, a disclaimer spanning 3 shirts wouldn't do it justice.
Are you sure about that? I think if you don't remove the emulsion within a reasonable amount of time it will become practically permanent or very difficult to scrub off.
I don't think that's true, since it's a chemical reaction that removes emulsion. I've waited months to reclaim screens with no problem, and pro shops often store burned screens in case they get a reorder. But they (& I) use pressure washers so they might not notice hardening over time or whatever.

You can discolor the threads by leaving ink and emulsion by leaving stuff on the screen for too long, but that doesn't affect future print quality.

I haven't done a whole lot of diy stuff for a while. I've been busy with preparing **** for the republican national convention, diy but not very crafty. (See our kind of bad at the moment website nornc.org and the writeup in the most recent slingshot.) I'm working on two zines, but neither is very far. I recently got access to a buttonmaker, and I have plans to make a bunch of patches to sell/donate (along with doing some graff). I'm going to start a bike gang with friends, but not a scary black label tallbike drunk crusty punk one. Our symbol's going to be a bike with wheels replaced by an infinity sign. I patched my sneakers on the inside because the soles are ripping away. I still want to make a messenger bag too. But there's no images so none of you care.

Oh yeah I use pressure washers, I completely forgot about that.

I think I'll try redoing it with the image of Abu Hamza, much more recognisable. I don't really like the design, but it was just one of those sort of concept things I thought of.

How about you pick a terrorist people will actually recognize like Osama Bin Laden or a guy from Abu Ghraib.

what are pressure washers?

Under the 'Screen Clean-up' section in some Screen printing instructions I have it says: PHOTO EMULSION SHOULD BE WASHED OUT OF YOUR SCREEN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AS YOUR PRINT IS COMPLETED - UNLESS YOU WANT A PERMANENT STENCIL. Maybe it's true or not, I'm not really sure. I know when I lift my screen up and look at it under a light I can see some left over emulsion in areas, like the corners. This is probably due to what I believe was poor washing. I'm not if that will affect anything though, and maybe like you said it just changed the colour of the threads...

Okay I stand corrected that man is extremely memorable.

Weird, I thought that was Boba Fett.

Sunshine 05-06-2007 08:45 PM

...you mean it wasn't?

Flagjacket 05-06-2007 08:55 PM

The stencils would be sweet if you didn't just grab like, 100 mailing address labels from the post office. I especially like the yellow and blue one, it looks awesome.

Flagjacket 05-06-2007 10:14 PM

The postal markings just look crappy.

sam-a-lam 05-07-2007 12:47 AM

You could just spray them all white so there is no post office logo.

yourstruly 05-07-2007 03:18 AM

yeah, that would be a good idea.

Here's my Black Flag wallet. Burnt part wrecked it a bit, but whatever.
