Adam Jones is GOD 06-03-2005 04:02 PM

No need to feel shame my child. We're still no match for the Pink Floyd monks though, However, I think we can take on the iron maiden priests in a somewhat epic encounter.

(would be one hell of a drum off)

Futuro 06-03-2005 04:13 PM

hmmm if i could drum for another cover band it would be zepplin(so laid back:lol:)

so how are we gonna record this time,or do you want me to record directly from Joz's bassline?

Moseswasbanned 06-03-2005 07:51 PM

Hey all, it's letmypeopleho here. I got banned during the spam attack, isn't that just dandy?

I have an update on the vox in that version of part of me. I can't get the reverb out of the first line so, meh.

Anyway here it is.

How did you get banned?
If anyone should've got banned, it would be me. My "Community Service" started the whole Pron thing, with my picture of Jenna Haze.

I got banned because I spammed one too many times and someone said "ban him, ban him" so I guess they banned me.

It was also the night that it happened during the second spam attack, so maybe they were more strict about it.

That sucks. I'm really suprised I didn't get banned. VERY SURPISED.

Moseswasbanned 06-03-2005 08:47 PM

I messed up on that upload. This is the one I wanted.

in the booklet ,,, its looks like jap words really.... and in the booklet there are images, no eng lyrics.. is this a japanese version or what

i'm talking about APC Mer de Noms here

BurtonChancellor 06-03-2005 10:15 PM

Update on the Tool site. Nothing special, but Blair mentions they're "assembling/recording a rather monstrous piece of music", which I would assume is that 18 minute song that keeps on getting mentioned. And hey, at least it might be a sign that they've moved from the songwriting process onto recording/mixing. It ain't much, but I'll take anything that might mean the album's coming sometime in the forseeable future.

Darkness 06-03-2005 10:27 PM
the meantime, there’s always the rumor mill, and those who make up their own album titles and release dates… and do a pretty good job at that!
I'm starting to think that August 16th dvd titled tele... whatever it was called thing may be a bit of a hoax?

BurtonChancellor 06-03-2005 10:28 PM

That would surprise me less than if it turned out to be true.

Futuro 06-04-2005 12:09 AM

hmmmm....18 minuets....thats longer than third eye.....awsome!!!

Lateralias 06-04-2005 12:49 AM

Blair has a very strange form of writing.. hard to understand what he's trying to get across sometimes.. and unfortunately he isn't trying to get anything across at times...
Meh... to me it isn't any news.. just more Blair rubbish..

No, you have the normal version. They're just symbols, though Maynard, in his typical Maynard attitude, said that they do mean something.

On a completely different note, do we have any Porcupine Tree fans here? I got Deadwing a few weeks ago, and I love it. Great experimental prog rock, with a bit of a psychadelic touch to it. Steve Wilson has a great voice, the drummer and bassist are fantastic, and Adrian Belew from King Crimson and Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth do some great guest guitar solos.

They've been recording for ages, in the updates they've mentioned Danny saying they got another song recorded with some vocals from Maynard that he's excited about, and I think they mentioned LK (the 18 minute song) being finished, so that's at least 2 songs recorded.

The song he speaks of isn't LK, because they've already assembled it and at least started recording it. I wonder if he means "monstrous" as in it's lengthy, or "monstrous" as in it's heavy. I hope it's the heavy one.

This is one thing I'm excited about; with this album Maynard is doing lyrics and vocals when the others are playing, not like Lateralus which had Maynard layering vocals and writing lyrics after the whole album was done.
It's not bad in Lateralus, you can't notice, but when you do know it lessens the whole album, for me at least, so I'm glad about this change.

Need.... new... record.... NOW....

clearvision 06-04-2005 05:29 AM

Part of me is ok, you tend to sing through your nose too much though...the 'you are a part of me' bit was cool though...

I'm trying not to complain too much because my voice is actually atrocious so i don't really have a foot to stand on.

/runs off to slit blairs throat :)

Moseswasbanned 06-04-2005 08:06 AM

I have a feeling we'll be killed by the Opeth thread. I might be doing some growling vox for them.

My Sober. I've been dying to post that, but I couldn't due to the spambots, and I was out last night, so here you guys are. It's not sync'd with any particular version. It's pretty rough, but tell me what to work on anyways.

Heh, I may be doing vocals for the drapery falls growls.

I remember reading that your throat burned after you were done singing the growling part for that. You must have a different technique than I do, because death growls are as easy as talking for me.

Darkness 06-04-2005 08:50 AM

Hehe... yeah I did kinda mess up my throat last night. I definalty over did it, but I nailed the part. I thought it sounded good, and I never think anything I do sounds good.

When are you going to post your sample? I'd like to hear it.

And as for the technique thing, a lot of it comes from my gut but I just use my throat to almost project it. Its kinda hard to explain.

Whenever my family gets out of the house and I have time. Which will probably be tonight or tomorrow night.

The way I do it is I drop my adams apple and push from the bottom.

One step ahead of you. I spotted your link in Other Music before it was shut, so I downloaded it.

Its good stuff, nice tone, you've got the song down well. However your starting part is odd, I cant match it up to JoZ's bass, or the original track.

clearvision 06-04-2005 09:03 AM

We will own the opeth thread, we are covering a better band...

+ they aren't doing dirge for november...(the best opeth song.)

Hmm Jake did you play along to anything, your timing definateley seems off...nice tone at the start, not sure about the cleanish sound though...

Fix'd

Darkness 06-04-2005 09:07 AM

Hm... I donno. They plan on covering The Moor, or Blackwater Park. And the Drapery falls forsure.

...You guys aren't picking any god like Tool songs... at least not IMO.

You guys would own the Opeth thread if you were doing something like The Grudge, The Patient, Parabola (with parabol this would beat anything), Pu****, 46&2 etc. Ya know, the better Tool songs. Part of Me is a cool track, but its nothing compared to later Tool songs.

clearvision 06-04-2005 09:07 AM

Dirge for noveber > all :( Fixing my quotes

Oh and on the sober recording, whats up with the pedal switches, they took aaages at times...

I'm slowly piecing together the rest of aenima...anyone wanna do vox or am i gonna have to ruin it :(

I would be up to do

The Patient
Stinkfist
Schisim
Or even the live version of Pushit

However, since I cant record, its down to the guys who can. Although im going to risk doing a direct line in from my amp to my crappy soundcard before I get a new one.

clearvision 06-04-2005 09:11 AM

To be honest, i don't think we have a vocalist that could handle the grudge, or push!t...plus the songs are so epic, it would be tough. Aenima is taking me ages to learn all the parts, I'm thinking of double tracking it, but AJIG would kill me, it would be a b!tch to line up and i don't think it will sound as good.

Obviously we should do third eye, but no-one has enough time to put into it to make it sound good, and although the parts are simple, it's all about tone, and apart from Kurrpt, everyone i've heard is lacking in that department...
