adbforever 07-16-2011 04:41 PM
yeah because blasting as fast as you can constantly isn't generic metal drumming
wikipedia:

blast beats originated in performances by jazz drummers of the 1950s, 60s and 70s such as Tony Williams, Angelo Spampinato, and Sunny Murray, in particular his 3/28/1965 Greenwich Village recording of "Holy Ghost" with Albert Ayler. Allmusic contributor Thom Jurek credits Williams as the "true inventor of the blastbeat

Juddybear 07-16-2011 04:44 PM

adbforever 07-16-2011 04:47 PM

point being blasting wasn't even used in metal drumming til like 10-20 years after being invented

and

by generic metal drumming I meant actual old generic drumming used in osdm that you guys worship

but carry on. I just want to hear a new asp song to see if I like it

I like riffs.

I dislike shitty drumming and breakdowns.

Juddybear 07-16-2011 04:48 PM

MalleusMaleficarum 07-16-2011 04:48 PM

it just keeps getting better..

xMalcolmXx 07-16-2011 04:49 PM

blast beats originated in the 50's, but not used in metal until 10-20 years after

ah

adbforever 07-16-2011 04:49 PM

1984- 1965 = 19 years

Juddybear 07-16-2011 05:00 PM

adbforever 07-16-2011 05:05 PM

actually it is because it set the foundation for death metal

Juddybear 07-16-2011 05:07 PM

what does that even mean

adbforever 07-16-2011 05:11 PM

do you know how influence works justin

do you grasp the concept of bands listening to original bands in the genre for ideas for their music

Juddybear 07-16-2011 05:11 PM

that happens in any genre so what you have a real dumb fuckin way of looking at shit

adbforever 07-16-2011 05:15 PM

yea but we're talking about osdm specifically

blastbeats weren't invented by osdm

Juddybear 07-16-2011 05:16 PM

witchxrapist 07-16-2011 05:39 PM

Okay, where does this contradict the statement that most generic black metal and death metal drumming is just blasting?

xMalcolmXx 07-16-2011 05:46 PM
yea but we're talking about osdm specifically

nobody even said that it was

newer death metal drummers are very influenced by old death metal drummers

do you know how influence works

witchxrapist 07-16-2011 05:52 PM

okay guys, let's not get into an argument with this dumb shit

witchxrapist 07-16-2011 05:59 PM

i think so

nevertoolate 07-16-2011 06:13 PM

madnessness

botb 07-17-2011 12:05 PM

adb:
hates breakdowns
loves slams

witchxrapist 07-17-2011 12:07 PM

makes sense

xMalcolmXx 07-17-2011 12:31 PM

the difference between breakdowns and slams is breakdowns are slow and slams are not as slow therefore it takes more talent to play slams because they are breakdowns but faster and more tech

botb 07-17-2011 12:34 PM

oh it all makes sense now

MalleusMaleficarum 07-17-2011 01:56 PM

i thought slams were slower wtf man now my musical knowledge is thrown upside down

witchxrapist 07-17-2011 02:02 PM

well the slower is faster and when the hot it's not hot enough

MalleusMaleficarum 07-17-2011 02:03 PM
