Though they have other (as I hear better) material, I have Of Lucifer and Lightening. Check it out.

What don't you like about Bloodbath (besides the horrendous guitar sound lol)?
Coke's review of the Anglecorpse didn't make me want to check it out, but I'm going to get some of their earlier stuff eventually.
yeah, basically the guitar sound, but i'm not into the whole "retrodeath" thing. I thought the songs were pretty bland except for Ways to the Grave. I've only heard RtC so i cant judge the rest.

Understandable. The only Bloodbath material I do not like is the Breeding Death EP. I thoroughly enjoy the two LPs, minus the guitar tone.

rattlehead42147 12-09-2007 08:16 PM

so the guitar tone is bad on NMF too? and the EP for some reason seemed promising based on the sputnik review, i might get it.

Hrimthursum 12-09-2007 08:17 PM

Nightmares Made Flesh is slightly more tolerable; still a little oversaturated to me. Breeding Death didn't sit well with me for some reason.

rattlehead42147 12-09-2007 08:26 PM

are you an Edge of Sanity fan by any chance?

Angmar 12-09-2007 08:27 PM

Edge of Sanity rules, I have both Crimson albums, I like the first one best of course. :)

Hrimthursum 12-09-2007 08:28 PM

I have not heard of the aforementioned band. What are they like?

Angmar 12-09-2007 08:29 PM
I have not heard of the aforementioned band. What are they like?
Progressive death metal done very well, they can pull off a 40 minute song and keep it interesting the whole way through.

Hrimthursum 12-09-2007 08:31 PM

Define progressive; prog loses my interest very quickly...no offense intended.
Progressive death metal done very well, they can pull off a 40 minute song and keep it interesting the whole way through.
summary = get Crimson ASAP
edit:
not Dream Theater progressive, sounds more like Opeth, but better imo, Michael Akerfeldt does vocals in certain parts

pate 12-09-2007 08:58 PM
Definitely top 5 worst albums released in 2007.
lol exaggeration

I like it.

Sounds interesting; I'll look into it and make a judgement.
Anybody a fan of Angelcorpse, old Divine Empire, or Bloodbath?
I have The Inexorable and it's like if Morbid Angel had a baby with Marduk that was 500x better than both bands.

So yeah, I like Angelcorpse.

rattlehead42147 12-09-2007 09:12 PM

yeah, the Inexorable was the one i heard was actually good.

NemesisDivina 12-09-2007 09:42 PM

Hrimthursum, do you have a last.fm or RYM that you could post? You seem like you have some pretty solid taste in music.

Hrimthursum 12-09-2007 09:45 PM

I do not. I used to have a list on some listing website; I've long forgotton the username/password and even the site itself,.

I should build another list soon.

Angmar 12-09-2007 09:46 PM

Yeah RYM is pretty cool for showing and rating your music collection. Here's mine for example, not even close to being done but yeah.

Site bookmarked.

You seem to be quite the fan of older style death metal and metal in general, just by looking at your cds.

Angmar 12-09-2007 09:51 PM

Yeah, I tend to listen to a good deal of "old-school" DM, but I don't have as much as I would like.

NemesisDivina 12-09-2007 09:53 PM

Hrim, name some more death metal bands you like, you only named like... 3?

How about some old school stuff like... Obituary, Atheist, Morbid Angel, Pestilence, Deicide, Cryptopsy, etc.

Angmar 12-09-2007 09:53 PM

Entombed too, yes, Left Hand Path is gold.

Niflheim II 12-09-2007 09:53 PM

who has a link to BRA's shitty EP? I heard a track on myspace and it was full of senseless mtvcore riffing and I need a good laugh.

Angmar 12-09-2007 09:54 PM

He posted a link to his full discography a ways back in this or the bm thread, i can't quite remember.

Niflheim II 12-09-2007 09:55 PM

this has to be the worst dual vocal approach and overall sound ive heard.

TojesDolan 12-09-2007 09:57 PM

No, but you see Niflheim he uses FIVE distortion pedals.

AIM it up bra.

OMG!

Niflheim II 12-09-2007 09:58 PM

I don't think every pedal in the world can compensate for his obvious lack of songwriting ability.

Hrimthursum 12-09-2007 09:59 PM

I enjoy Deicide and some Morbid Angel. New Deicide has me in anticipation, supposedly thier most brutal.

Morbid Angel is a toss-up; Covenant was alright but rather dry (production wise), Altars of Madness is good. Haven't heard anything else.

I do enjoy older Nile, older Kataklysm (Epic: Poetry of War FTW!, Vital Remains (especially pre-Benton), Gorguts, Agathodamion (perhaps more Black Metal, no?), Aborted, older Amon Amarth (Once Sent From the Golden Hall, The Avenger), old cannibal Corpse, Gojira, Entombed, Carcass, At the Gates (only Slaughter of the Soul), Beneath the Massacre, Meshuggah....

Sorry with all the "old" this and that. It seem a lot of bands are beginning to recycle far too many things and become boring.

NemesisDivina 12-09-2007 10:01 PM

Damn. Cool stuff (save Nile...)

Welcome to R&M, I'm glad to see a new poster that is actually decent.

Hrimthursum 12-09-2007 10:02 PM

Thanks.

rattlehead42147 12-09-2007 10:09 PM

i salute you for Gorguts! :)
@Hrim

NemesisDivina 12-09-2007 10:09 PM

Hrimthursum, do you play any instruments or perhaps even have a band?

Angmar 12-09-2007 10:09 PM
i salute you for Gorguts! :)
I really should get Considered Dead. I rather enjoyed The Erosion of Sanity though, especially over Obscura.

rattlehead42147 12-09-2007 10:12 PM

dude Considered Dead is where its at.

Hrimthursum 12-09-2007 10:12 PM

I no longer have a band; my last band had a rather violent break-up and I subsequently took a hiatus after deleting our myspace and having some choice words (and fists) with a former member. We playeddeath metal with kind of a touch of black metal.

I play piano first and foremost, but also guitar and vocals. I've been interested in picking up bass as well, but haven't had the time as of late.

I may try to start another band or go solo; I haven't decided yet.

NemesisDivina 12-09-2007 10:13 PM

Sup, bra.

Hrimthursum 12-09-2007 10:17 PM

Do any of you enjoy Soilwork?

Tyler 12-09-2007 10:17 PM

Nah they're like the 98 Degrees of Death Metal.
