Yeah I was about to say the same thing. :)

Ok, I have an idea- Should there be a rule that goes something like this?

Before creating a thread asking someting like "What song is this, the lyrics go..." do a Google search on the lyrics. You will get your answer a lot quicker, and your thread won't get closed.

I see a thread that goes something like that at least once a week, and it's usally filled with posts linking to Google, or "u shudnt do dat" type posts. It would save a lot of time for mods to not have to close threads and ban idiots who create those kinds of threads. :p

Nostalgia 09-20-2005 12:53 AM

^ thats a good Idea but the influx of threads like that that produce are usually new people to MX and most newer people don't read the rules or are to lazy to google it, that IMO is where a lot of spam starts producing and it usually fills up with spam to fast for the mods to be able to close it. I'm not to familar with this but if it could be added to the rules page that IMO would help if people would read the rules.

munky_magik 09-20-2005 04:24 AM

Ken actually made a "what is this song" thread, or something similar, but it never really took off.

Think a ban for Mr. Insane Fanboy is needed here.

superpeer 09-20-2005 06:47 AM

I don't think he'll be back any time soon, anyway.

Shattered_Future 09-20-2005 01:30 PM

Um...I'm not sure if this is where you request name changes for threads, but a few people told me this would probably be the place.

Me and the regulars of my Nightwish thread would like to have the name of it changed...

The new thread name would be "A Home For The Oceanborn: The Nightwish Thread".

If this could be done, or if someone could redirect me to the place were you request things like these, it would be most appreciated.

Thank you. :)

superpeer 09-20-2005 02:56 PM

Sure.

the 5th comment is rude and unnecessary if a mod gets rid of it that would be nice. :thumb:

I have no problem with his opinion. It's just that that's an illegal post and seriously disrupts the thread without any point.

He got a one day ban as a warning.. he knows not to do that.

is there not a place for these threads?

black.hole.sun 09-21-2005 04:07 PM

I want to know what the hell is the point of everyone making all these stupid spotlights. I understand if it's an underground band, or a band that's still rather "unknown." I mean honestly, a Guns 'N Roses spotlight? If I didn't know anything about them in the first place I'd rather go to something like MTV or VH1 and read their profile...just a thought...

Well, earlier I have made some nile, deicide writeups but do you think that is to mainstream or something. I understand what you mean, I don't know why there would be a gn'r thread but Oh well.

I just mean is there a point to making threads on artist that are well known like Hendrix or G'n'R? Dont get me wrong, I like the artists, I just dont see why this can't go into the thread for that artist instead of a weekly special.

Nostalgia 09-21-2005 06:02 PM

Lol. You can barley call that jimi hendrx one a "writeup". I do some once and a while but I do beleive the ones like Jime hendrx and GNR are a little pointless due to the fact that they are both extremley well known. But I do some death metal one that has known bands like nile, devourment etc but I don't beleive that they are to mainstream IMO.

Nostalgia 09-21-2005 06:29 PM

Yea warn that guy, I don't beleive he should get banned though just check up on him accasionally see what his posts have gotten better but, he might get banned soon if he is posting like he has been.

A thread for three bands all in one. And the Slayer thread already is big and very active.
