I made a comment earlier in the thread about Cult of Luna making music resembling the movement of tectonic plates :)

Can I ask..do you ever listen to music? I know you're musically proficient, and you play, but you always seem to be either listening to something that's in the background, or else just with "(music in head)". Do you ever actually listen to recordings?

(To Bartender)
All the time. I particularly enjoy listening to music. The problem is I often am working off of the computer, which is in the living room, as opposed to the utterly portabel laptop. Sometimes I listen to stuff on the computer (such as now), but often I'm not.

I am a particular fan of many types of music, ranging from rock to Bach (overused).

NP Ben Harper - Like a King / I'll Rise (live)

I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that this may well be the best song ever, or at the very least the best live performance. I've been listening to it on repeat for over an hour, it's just amazing. I can't get enough of the lyrics, for one thing.

"You may write me down in history with your bitter twisted lies,
you may trod me down in the very dirt.
And still like the dust, I'll rise.
Does my happiness upset you?
Why are you best with gloom, cause I laugh,
like I've got an oil well pumpin' in my living room?

So you may shoot me with your words,
you may cut me with your eyes,
and I'll rise - I'll rise - I'll rise - rise - rise.
Out of the shacks of history's shame,
up from a past rooted in pain,
and I'll rise - I'll rise - I'll rise - rise - rise.

Now did you want to see me broken,
bowed head and lowered eyes,
shoulders fallen down like teardrops,
weakened by my soulful cries.
Does my confidence offend you?
Don't you take this awful hard, cause I walk,
like I've got a gold mine diggin' up in my back yard.

So you may shoot me with your words,
you may cut me with your eyes,
and I'll rise - I'll rise - I'll rise - rise - rise.
Out of the shacks of history's shame,
up from a past rooted in pain,
and I'll rise - I'll rise - I'll rise - rise - rise.

So you may write me down in your history with your bitter twisted
lies.
You may trod me down in the very dirt.
And still like the dust, I'll rise.
Does my confidence upset you?
Why are you best with gloom cause I laugh,
like I've got a oil well pumping in my living room."

Awesome. This is the same kind of feeling I got when I first realised there might be people who hadn't seen the ocean.
