Oh my, what's the Casual doing on the second page.

Rollo47 04-04-2005 03:24 AM
oh, how much do you weigh/ height?
I'm just under 6 foot, and about 80-85kg. I say 80-85kg because it tends to change rather quickly, but stays in that range normally.

Jamie 04-04-2005 03:28 AM

Im watching a Led Zeppelin DVD. Its very good.

Hello everyone! Im up before midday! I had to get up at 8:30AM this morning to let the builders in (we are getting a conservatry (sp) built) so its now 10:24AM and im pretty bored. Ive got homework to do because im back to school tomorrow.

So im guessing its just you good ol' Aussies on here then?

So how is everyone doing? What time is it in AUS right now?

gaslight 04-04-2005 03:30 AM

I have 7:20 PM.

Bored and waiting for some dinner.

Rollo47 04-04-2005 03:30 AM

It's 5:22pm in Perth.

Which Led Zepp dvd is it?

Jamie 04-04-2005 03:37 AM

The song remains the same.

I love it!

I watched Bad Company - Merchants of cool DVD earlier. That was great! Jaz Lochrie is a brilliant bassist, its a shame hes so unknown though.

I was watching the morning news this morning and they had an interview with Miles Davis' girlfriend before he died 14 years ago and it had a load of clips of him playing the first gigs with his quartet. Some amazing stuff! Well, the woman was on about a load of art her and Mile's produced back when Miles was recovering from his neck operation. She went on to talk about how the art helped his creativity in music. The music helped the art, the art helped the music.

It was really cool :)

Rollo47 04-04-2005 03:39 AM

Awesome. Miles Davis is really incredibly cool.

Jamie 04-04-2005 03:42 AM

Am i correct in saying he died pretty young?

Why do all the virtuoso players die so young?

Miles, Jaco, Hendrix...

:(

gaslight 04-04-2005 03:45 AM

Usually because of problems arising from drug abuse.

Jamie 04-04-2005 03:52 AM

True.. Its a real shame though.

What actually happened about Jaco's death? All i heard was that he was beaten to death by a bouncer in a (either Florida or London) club. Im guessing he had been doing drugs or something and picked a fight with him?

gaslight 04-04-2005 03:56 AM

He was trying to sneak/force his way into an exclusive night club/bar.

The manager had had problems with Jaco in the past, so he told the bouncer to not go easy on Jaco if he showed up and caused trouble. Jaco was high or drunk or both, caused trouble trying to get in, and the bouncer just happened to be a martial arts expert who basically demolished Jaco's head with karate moves.

:(

Jamie 04-04-2005 03:59 AM

man... that really sucks. I guess the fame and success got to his head a little too much.

In your opinion, who do you think is the most virtuistic player of this decade?

gaslight 04-04-2005 04:00 AM

Dunno really, I haven't heard that many of the virtuoso players. I just sort of know a few names.

Jamie 04-04-2005 04:05 AM

WOAH! I just found out my friend (a girl) has an f'ing Fender Custom Shop Strat in pink!

Im shocked! I havent seen it in person yet but I just assumed it was a MIM Strat that she had refinished pink... Im jealous now and it makes my GAS even more stronger for my custom...

Im working my *** off for 3 months (the time from when my exams finish to the time when I start college) to save for my dream rig. I have no idea what I want in terms of amplication due to the lack of bass amplification at local music shops. Im hoping to take a trip down to London during the summer holiday and Im going to go and see Luke (bassist-bmxer) and see if he wants to go around London for a day around all the big shops.

I did really want a Winters custom but hes not going to be back in time for when I need it so I might go with Dave Pushic (http://www.dpcustom.com) because the prices are similar to Jp's price. I have around £1000 to spend on the bass. What other custom luthiers should I look at?

EDIT: I forgot to mention that her pink strat got scratched badly on the front by her brother... So we've come up with a plan to steal it, get it resprayed in sparkly pink, then give it back as a sorry present... She doesnt know its scratched yet and shes going to go absolutely crazy... uh oh!

:p

True... true... But I dont have enough money for a CT :D

Ive worked out it might be about $1400, thats about £750. Then with shipping and taxes to the UK, it will probably be about £1100. I think overall thats a great price for my dream bass!
