cunning stunts vs. S and M

which dvd should i get?

Five Magics 01-17-2005 10:47 PM

cunning stunts....no contest

acdcrockr 01-17-2005 10:51 PM

turn the page is a tight song by metallica

Leper 01-18-2005 12:05 AM

Metallica songs i used to hate but now like?...Hit the lights, Whiplash, Ride the Lightning, The Wait..that's all i can really think of, it was a long time ago that i didn't like these songs so im doin some hardcore backtracking here.

metal_milita 01-18-2005 12:10 AM

I've like Call of Ktulu since day one, I don't understand how you can hate it. Its so beautifuly musically structured and engineered IMO. I gotta hand it to Dave Mustaine for helping out with one of my favourite songs, although most of the song is James.

Leper 01-18-2005 12:58 AM

Call of Ktulus a pretty good song, im not a huge fan of instrumental's tho

mprules 01-18-2005 01:07 AM

best instrumental is to live is to die, argh orion also rules

hammet_ownz 01-18-2005 05:04 AM

Last Concert...

i'd have it structured like a journey from their beginnings, with Load/Reload at the end so people could go if they please lol

1. Motorbreath
2. Hit the Lights
3. Whiplash
4. No Remorse
5. The Four Horsemen
- crowd interaction -
6. Fight Fire With Fire
7. Call of Ktulu
8. Creeping Death
9. For Whom the Bell Tolls
10. Ride the Lightning

Intermission

1. Leper Messiah
2. Disposable Heroes
3. Sanitarium
4. Battery

-crowd interaction-
5. One
6. ...And Justice for All
7. Harvester of Sorrow
8. Blackened
9. To Live is to Die

Intermission

1. Nothing Else Matters
2. Enter Sandman
3. Of Wolf and Man
4. Sad but True
5. Whereever I may Roam
- crowd interaction -

Now i'd get them to play the two Unforgivens one after the other
1. The Unforgiven
2. The Unforgiven II

Now just a little bit of Load/Reload and plenty of Garage Inc.

1. Hero of the Day
2. Aint My Bitch
3. King Nothing
4. Fuel
- crowd interaction -
5. So What
6. Blitzreig
7. Last Caress
8. Turn the Page
9. Whisky in the Jar
10. Am I Evil

End

Encore
1. One
2. Master of Puppets (the full version, with all the solos)
3. Seek and Destroy (the whole version)
^^you haven't posted here in a while^^
I've been busy - birthday, work, etc.
Looks like strange things have been happening in this thread while I was away

I need to get Kill 'Em All. Then I shall have all their albums (excluding Live Shit)

DouchePatrol 01-18-2005 10:34 AM

1. Blackened
2. Trapped Under Ice
3. Metal Militia
4. Orion
5. Battery
6. Fade to Black
7. Creeping Death
8. Phantom Lord
9. No Remorse
10. Master of Puppets - only because they pretty much HAVE to play that song
11. Sanitarium
12. St. Anger - I saw that one live - you go ahead and try to tell me it sucks
13. Sad But True
14. One
15. ...And Justice for All
16. Harvester of Sorrow
17. Frayed Ends of Sanity
18. Dyers Eve
19. Damage, Inc.
20. Shortest Straw

That's like a 99% thrash set

Joe 01-18-2005 10:58 AM

well i don't have anything after black, excluding live albums

Kill 'Em All is a lot different than Ride the Lightning, IMO. and definitely get live shit. it's a great set of concerts

Joe 01-18-2005 11:00 AM

so this past thing is making up an enormous set list for their goodbye show???

i'm at school, i'll make it this afternoon

Burdcheese 01-18-2005 11:01 AM

I've downloaded most of KEA already so I know what I'm in for - certainly different.

I certainly intend to get Live Shit. Its a lot more reasonably priced now

Joe 01-18-2005 11:03 AM

ok good. KEA is a lot more thrashy metal than the kirk hammett albums. those are just metal

yea, live sh*t is a little expensive, but it's worth it

^Dream~Theater^ 01-18-2005 11:32 AM

Don't forget Cunning Stunts
Nice title Caps, Rep++:)

Fernandes Power 01-18-2005 11:34 AM
cunning stunts vs. S and M

which dvd should i get?
S&M

Burdcheese 01-18-2005 11:52 AM

S&M is fantastic.
Get it.

Though obviously the right answer is get them all

Fernandes Power 01-18-2005 11:59 AM

They arent similar, so you cant compare which one you should get... IMO Hetfield is FAR MORE on form in S&M than Cunning Stunts

KILO5203 01-18-2005 12:02 PM
i have a subject.
Lets talk about songs that we used to hate, but now love it.
I used to hate the four horsemen, but i now love it.
same with the call of ktulu
I used to hate the album st anger just like everyone else, but now i like it. i think people who hate st anger should at least check out the unnamed feeling.

Leper 01-18-2005 02:03 PM
To acdcrockr and lepermessiah: The Wait and Turn the page are covers :thumb:
Yes thank you captain obvious. Covers still apply to the topic.

FFbassist26 01-18-2005 02:34 PM

i used to hate most of st anger, but then i saw some live, it kicked ***.

Leper 01-18-2005 02:45 PM
i used to hate most of st anger, but then i saw some live, it kicked ***.
Ya even the St. Anger tracks were pretty sweet in concert. I really don't understand tho why fans of St. Anger are so fond of The Unnamed Feeling. IMO this isn't a very good song, but maybe that's because im not a fan of St. Anger in general.

Leper 01-18-2005 02:48 PM

^^ ^^
Some Kind of Monster too.
Woah... you dont like the Four Horsemen...?

Thats like...the song to sum up great Metallica
i love four horsemen

i said i dont have to include call of ktulu

Mister_Che 01-18-2005 03:56 PM

Does anybody else prefer James' voice live than in the studio?

munky_magik 01-18-2005 03:58 PM

I wouldn't say that there's a whole lot of difference between them.

Mister_Che 01-18-2005 04:01 PM

I think the most prominent example would be Master of Puppets. his vox on S&M sounded better in my opinion.

munky_magik 01-18-2005 04:03 PM

I forgot about his earlier vocals. But once his voice matured it was pretty much the same in the stucio and live.

^Dream~Theater^ 01-18-2005 04:03 PM

Metallica are one of those bands that sound just as good live as they do studio. Bothers me when bands can't pull off their songs live..sounds horrible.
