They are a form of metal, just not the type of metal you like.
They are a form of metal, just not the type of metal you like.

Elitist bastard...
What metal genre are they then?

CemetaryGates9 06-08-2005 03:25 PM

Nu metal / New Rock.

Arucard 06-08-2005 03:25 PM

I reckon just plain metal/hard rock. I was only joking with the elitist thing by the way.

munky_magik 06-08-2005 03:25 PM

I would say that they're a form a rock, hard rock most likely.

Arucard 06-08-2005 03:25 PM
Nu metal / New Rock.
They have nothing to do with nu-metal.

CemetaryGates9 06-08-2005 03:27 PM

The definition of nu metal is under dispute. I don't have to label any of it, because I stay away from it, but I'd say it's somewhat like Nu Metal.

superpeer 06-08-2005 03:29 PM

Well if they're Hard Rock, they're not metal. I mean, their single after Smooth Criminal was just plain rock. They are a bit nu metallish though.

CemetaryGates9 06-08-2005 03:30 PM
Well if they're Hard Rock, they're not metal. I mean, their single after Smooth Criminal was just plain rock. They are a bit nu metallish though.
These Days, or Wish, or what?

Thor 06-08-2005 03:48 PM
Tye Zamora, the bassist for AAF, is actually in the top 100 bassists poll somewhere. Although he DOES have a six-string bass, that doesn't automatically mean he's really good at it.

The fact that he was in a Primus cover band is what makes him good at it. :)
Primus cover band? Do you have any songs I can check out?

Illmatic 06-08-2005 04:10 PM
Have you actually heard any of their stuff but Smooth Criminal.
Yes.

Arucard 06-08-2005 04:11 PM

Ok then, your opinion is valid.

Thor 06-08-2005 04:12 PM

Favorite AAF song has to be Wish or Courage. They are both pretty cool songs.

Illmatic 06-08-2005 04:13 PM

Okay, thanks.

By the way, I don't have a problem with metal but I really dislike Alien Ant Farm.

Lord Abortion 06-08-2005 04:17 PM

wow... all the aaf stuff went on a while huh?

Thor 06-08-2005 04:19 PM
Okay, thanks.

I don't think many people would flame you for not liking AAF. :thumb:

Illmatic 06-08-2005 04:20 PM

Well I was bothered by AH saying something along the lines of, "Oh don't mind him he complains about metal"

NP: Neil Young - Cinnamon Girl

Arucard 06-08-2005 04:23 PM

NW (Now Whoring) : My band too Munky.

This is fun.

CemetaryGates9 06-08-2005 04:30 PM

I gave this post a title.

This is what happens when I have nothing better to do.

Kthx.

Thor 06-08-2005 04:31 PM

Most of those books I have read in school over the past few years.

CemetaryGates9 06-08-2005 04:32 PM

Before Ray gets to it, yes, I know you think Scarlet Letter is the most boring book ever.

FOr the record, I thought so too and stopped reading after about 50 pages.

Illmatic 06-08-2005 04:33 PM

I read a few of those books my freshman + sophomore years in high school.

Except The Scarlet Letter, which I read junior year and is an atrocity and a disgrace to the English language.

superpeer 06-08-2005 04:34 PM
These Days, or Wish, or what?
Something with movies, I think. I'm not a big fan of AAF either, but smooth criminal was cool.

NP: Madness - Nightboat to Cairo <-- They are cooler

Arucard 06-08-2005 04:34 PM

I read Jeffery Deaver books mostly, as im a Thriller whore and a book geek. I read alot.

Moseswasbanned 06-08-2005 04:34 PM

I just bought the Star Wars soundtrack and it is AMAZING!!!

Lord Abortion 06-08-2005 04:34 PM

whore...

off for some food methinks.. a cup of tea perhaps

hmmm...

CemetaryGates9 06-08-2005 04:35 PM

At 13, I'm ahead of the crowd. When I get to High School, I'll have a serious advantage in Reading And English classes.

Scarlet Letter doesn't compare to the patheticness of For WHom The Bell Tolls
Something with movies, I think. I'm not a big fan of AAF either, but smooth criminal was cool.
That sounds extremely familiar. I think it was "Just like The Movies" or something.

I tried to buy CLockWork Orange, but due to her concern about my homicidal comments toward females earlier that day, my mom told me to read Scarlet Letter instead. That pissed me off.

i thought brave new world was better and more interesting than 1984.

and kurt vonnegut is my favorite author. but slaughterhouse 5 is not his best book, nor my favorite. try mother night, breakfast of champions, or cat's cradle. give him another chance!

edit: and you'll definitely have a leg up in highschool. a lot of theose books were required reading for me. especially in a.p. classes.

CemetaryGates9 06-08-2005 04:39 PM
give him another chance!
I intend to. I obsessive compulsively planned to read those, and the fact that Slaughterhouse sucked won't alter the obsessive compulsive agenda.

Arucard 06-08-2005 04:39 PM

Suprsingly, that song was called 'Movies.'

Lord Abortion 06-08-2005 04:39 PM
That sounds extremely familiar. I think it was "Just like The Movies" or something.
that was it I think

oh and BTW-keep reading books- all the great metal lyricists do...

fact of the day:

queen victoria made gay sex illegal in the U.K in the 1800's but did not make lesbianism illegal...

why?? - because she did not believe it happened

CemetaryGates9 06-08-2005 04:41 PM
oh and BTW-keep reading books- all the great metal lyricists do...
If I had to guess, I'd actually say that that's what may have started this.

Thor 06-08-2005 04:41 PM

He did include a :p, though. Just earlier today you yourself used one to indicate you were joking about his wuss injury :)
That sounds extremely familiar. I think it was "Just like The Movies" or something.
It was just Movies, and it was a pretty good song.

I wouldn't say they were metal, though.

Slaughterhouse-Five
by KURT VONNEGUT (Paperback)

Alex's comments:
No. Just pathetic. Plotless, unfunny, stupid.
You suck.

The Cider House Rules > all. Never sene the movie so I can't comment on that.

CemetaryGates9 06-08-2005 04:55 PM

Oh come on, SH5 was no good.

Lord Abortion 06-08-2005 04:57 PM
If I had to guess, I'd actually say that that's what may have started this.
it's interesting how many song ideas jump out of say... a horror novel
or a sci-fi one... certainly lyrically it's alot in the metal world

PinkFreud 06-08-2005 04:57 PM
Oh come on, SH5 was no good.
well, its good in a historical context. and vonneguts a good author, especially his use of dry, often immature humor. i think the book was entertaining. just not entertaining enough to hold my attention for very long like his other books.

Bartender 06-08-2005 04:58 PM

How can humour be both dry and immature?

Cain 06-08-2005 05:01 PM

Dinnertime. Lamb chops!! See you all afterward.
