It would be a better time if they still had straight-Alexi Laiho on guitar.
is the new guy even good? wtf happen to Jani?

Shattered_Future 02-13-2008 02:42 PM

I think he got called back to mandatory military duty or had something happen to him because he skived off mandatory military duty.

Stormrider 02-13-2008 03:24 PM

masscows, what Blind Guardian albums do you have now?

masscows 02-13-2008 03:32 PM

Nightfall in Middle-Earth

That's it. I'm barely into power metal at all.

Stormrider 02-13-2008 03:37 PM

Get Imaginations From the Otherside and Somewhere Far Beyond if you want to check out more. Though, don't expect another Nightfall in Middle-earth.

masscows 02-13-2008 04:06 PM

As far as sheer quality goes or with all the extra stuff Nightfall... had? The interlude tracks got annoying to me after a while, I deleted them. They were cool the first few times around though.

Aside from the instrumentals of course, which kick ***.

Stormrider 02-13-2008 04:17 PM

You can definitely expect quality, it's just different.

And neither of the albums have interludes like on NIME.

masscows 02-13-2008 04:33 PM

I'll go listen to one of them on last.fm radio. Just remembered you can do that now :thumb:

Shattered_Future 02-13-2008 04:38 PM

Get A Night At The Opera. EARSECKS.

masscows 02-13-2008 04:43 PM

How does last.fm radio work now btw? All I'm getting is 30 second samples still...ugh.

Asides from A Flame to the Ground Beneath by Lost Horizon, this is the best Power Metal album.

jrowa001 02-13-2008 05:31 PM

Sonata Arctica are starting to grow on me
How does last.fm radio work now btw? All I'm getting is 30 second samples still...ugh.
Use the last.fm official software. You'll get full tracks that way.

masscows 02-13-2008 05:46 PM

I don't think Blind Guardian even has full tracks up anyways. It would say "full track" next to the song name.

I've heard full tracks of them on last.fm I believe. 'full track' means you can hear the whole thing in the flash player on the website
Get A Night At The Opera. EARSECKS.
No way. That's their worst album.

Shattered_Future 02-13-2008 06:21 PM

Are you kidding, Lee? It's by far their best...the whole album has this spin that not many other power metal albums have. It's heavily orchestrated, but it's not overtly bombastic like Rhapsody is. They still kept their roots heavily in more heavier metal styles.

1338 h4x0r 02-13-2008 06:22 PM
It's heavily orchestrated, but it's not overtly bombastic like Rhapsody is.
That's the problem

Stormrider 02-13-2008 08:08 PM

I don't see how that's the problem.

Anyway, it's a good album, but not their best for me.

Poet 02-13-2008 08:22 PM

A Night At The Opera>rest of BG's discography.

IDK It's by far my least favorite BG.

I'd say it's just as bombastic as Rhapsody ever is but in a different way. The production values in that album can be a bit oppressive and annoying at times though.

Shattered_Future 02-14-2008 04:24 PM

The production's better than on NIME though. At least you can hear the guitars...

pate 02-14-2008 06:13 PM

A Night Listening to the Gay Album Opera

jrowa001 02-14-2008 06:15 PM

pate 02-14-2008 06:18 PM

Txus 02-14-2008 06:20 PM
