Peter, Ethan hopes that by doing so he will set a positive example for others, and hopefully by being the change he wishes to see in the world that the world will come around.
And that's what he'll be doing in between the holidays. Until then, his family will continue to buy meat. And if this isn't enough, then he can tell everyone why he will eat meat on Thanksgiving, but not for the majority of the year.
The basic ideology of the vegetarian has always been that by not eating meat, they prevent big meat producers from making as much money as they would if the said vegetarian was buying meat products from them. Now, of course the amount of money that businesses who sell meat are losing out on when I don't buy from them is virtually meaningless.
I know
And if the meat is already purchased, it's either getting eaten or thrown out, so I might as well put it to use, right?
And for one time meat events, how would you be contributing to the meat industry? The only way would be if your share of meat actually increased the amount of turkey purchased, which means increasing the profit the turkey company receives. But one person doesn't really change that. If I told my mom I'm not goign to eat any meat for Christmas, and say she was planning on buying an eight pound turkey, she wouldn't buy a six pound turkey instead.

DaveToopes 11-25-2006 02:22 PM

Guys it's okay I don't like turkey anyways.
Fregetarians ftw.

Do you get Fresh'n'Wild in the States? They have awesome skips. I wish I could dine on Innocent smoothies and various sandwiches and falafels every day. Although throwing vegetables in a pot with some spices and rice is usually nicer, and better for you. And samosas.
This makes absolutely no sense to me.

DaveToopes 11-25-2006 03:12 PM

Agreed I have no idea what he was trying to say.

AndreTheHyena 11-25-2006 03:31 PM

I mean, I get fresh and wild all the time, but I'm just a fresh and wild guy. I don't know about skips or innocent smoothies, though.

lynch_me 11-25-2006 05:15 PM

Stop spamming! Lets talk about real things like how paper is made, or how civilization came to be.

Jessizzle 11-25-2006 05:18 PM

in first grade we made recycled paper, we put water and news paper in a blender, so it became mush, the put it on this wire rack thing a majig and let it dry untill we had recycled paper.

Flagjacket 11-25-2006 08:02 PM

Jess I visited a 8th Grade social studies class in Windsor once and that's what they were doing too.

Anxious 11-25-2006 08:08 PM

In second grade we all ate paper and shat it out and used it again and the resulting stuff was recycled paper

AIRIC 11-25-2006 08:15 PM

Stop being insubordinate you dork.
