you obviously didn't read the post based on that edit. |
Don't worry Rattle, I fixed him good!
you obviously didn't read the post based on that edit.
Sure I did. Rather than ignoring Dargon's insults you yet again tried to impress him with your elite knowledge that there is a black person in Blasphemy. KUDOS |
the fact that you missed the point completely is kind of sad. let me break it down for you.
1. Dargon hates black people and is Blasphemy's ultimate fanboy. 2. The goal is not to impress, but point out the ignorance in the irony of the fact that Blasphemy has a black band member. do you seriously think i aim to impress Dargon? For one, I am black. Would I want to be accepted by some ignorant racist whose head contains a vacuum where a brain should be? i think this time you're the one who should be thinking before they post... |
Maybe you should just ignore him.
|
FOR ONE
I AM BLACK |
well i'm not gonna start a flamefest but it's kind of lame to just sit there and ignore it all the time.
|
You're not black.

Sorry Elim, Jason's got you beat. |
i think i'm going to try to get my Uroboric Forms cover up tomorrow, following Luc and BRAIV's uploading/links of their covers i think i'm going to do it as well. I'm just uber critical of my playing so it takes me forever to record.
|
I had no covers. I don't do covers. Covers exhibit a lack of originality or a lack of a life.

you dont honestly expect to pick up an instrument and start flailing away like Paul Masvidal do you? you've got to start somewhere. i hate people when say **** like that, its as ignorant as saying "hey taking lessons is stupid Jimi Hendrix never did" now there is a point where you get locked into just doing covers. you've got to be able to learn from the songs and not just imitate them. i'm not quite there yet. :) |

now there is a point where you get locked into just doing covers. you've got to be able to learn from the songs and not just imitate them. i'm not quite there yet. :)
I never learned full songs from any band. Sure, I've picked up riffs from here and there, but I learned piano, guitar, and bass through music theory, scales, and progressions. I've learned riffs and passages, but have never involved myself in learning other people's full material. I have simply studied the playing of my teachers and friends, and incorporated thier styles into my own. After 16-17 years of playing guitar, I still get the "can you play blah blah blah?" I despise that; always have. That's part of why I never made the effort. I never saw the point to it, and it always pissed me off (and still does) when people ask that. To me, it's like, "why the hell would I want to play that?". I play my own material. |
ah ok. i understand. the first post came off as really stupid ie my "dont take lessons cuz hendrix didnt'" remark.
and a lot of people are like "hey gice don't learn any theory or scales thats not what X great guitar player did" and 16 years? for the love of god i've been playing like 3 and 1/2 |
I'm kindof the opposite. I don't have a problem with people learning partially by learning songs from other artists, but I wish people would focus more on theory and such than just playing other people's songs, and I get rather vehement about it at times..
|
I agree with all that's been said, but I disagree with people pushing theory as a way of rationalizing music for the "human" mind. Mistakes are to be made, plateaus are to be reached, and the weak or inable are to be weeded out. Theory just makes that natural selection a lot harder.

**** you. I learn songs to gain creativity. |
omg the bad boy is here lets all suck up to him!
I dont know if that was directed towards me, but I was quoting a quote I saw on a shirt...Dargon is a poor excuse an elitist and anything he posts on here is out of the sheer discontent with his own sad, pathetic life. Oh yeah, I almost forgot.... SKELTONWITCH BRO!!! |
I had no covers. I don't do covers. Covers exhibit a lack of originality or a lack of a life.
Doing covers is the best way to get a tight sound as a band. Since you're a one man band this doesn't apply obviously, but doing covers is also a way to reinterpret an influence on oneself and give the listener a perspective on your music by showing how it relates to another band. Obviously recording a cover note for note is a bit pointless . |

Indeed. I can't write crazy techy ****, that's why I play some Cryptopsy songs. I also enjoy playing along to the albums. |

apparently you arent a fan of northern hyperblast style blast beating |
I go more for midwestern hyperblast style blasting.
Northern hyperblast style blast beating is the only original and creative style. All the others show a lack of creativity. |

NHSBB at its finest. oh AXL wherever you are...you've been playing since you were 4 eh? Thats a long time. Your Kerry King solos definately show the amount of talent you posess...please, "guide my sword" |
i don't remember who it was that brought up Thanatos a while back. Anyway, the Emerging From the Netherworlds album was mentioned, how it gets kind of boring. I was listening to Realm of Ecstasy last night, its much better/more interesting.

Covers are great for playing shows when your band only has 3 songs written. |
What songs does your band cover?
|
OTDB used to cover Beneath Dying Skies and Funeral Thirst.
For Paraphilia we're planning on Bite It You Scum and Circle Of The Tyrants. |
| All times are GMT -6. The time now is 12:24 AM. |
