Ladies, if you read this, if you date a guy, and don't like him for whatever reason, TELL HIM THE EXACT REASON. This bull**** pisses me off!
This is a good policy in theory, but when I told this one dude to stop harassing me because he's a boring republican asshat he didn't get the hint. But then, that was the point where he started waiting in the bushes after my classes and following me around, so maybe he wasn't your average type? :amaze: |
Anyways, the GC on Halsted in Chicago ain't so bad in my opinion. Every once in a while there's some great stuff. Some of teh smaller shops are full of a$$holes though. The vintage guitar shop on Clarke has the worst people behind the counter I've ever encountered. They make fun of you in your face, don't tend to their customers and they have a policy that if anyone plays longer half an hour in their shop, they charge you 50 bucks an hour for the rehearsel space. Pricks. Some other stores I've been to have been similar. I guess you must be over 30 to be taken seriously there.
No kidding! I went to the place on Clarke and they gave me the absolute crap treatment. I prefer the GC by Midway airport though...they always give me free stuff. |
get'er done
|
The GC in Arlington is better than the one on Halstead. On Halstead they seem to be biased towards Warwicks and Fenders (last time I went, I found only a few Schecters and one Musicman).
And hi. |
Hey all....!.....
|
'Sup guys.
Yar. joe |
Hey Paul and EP and Fox.
|
Heya Paul.
I'm considering not playing bass for a while. Today I tried to sit down and do a bit of my cover for the cover comp and I felt like I was forcing music and it just didn't feel right. It's been like that for the past few days too. Really sucks. |
I guess you'll have to put it in the closet for awhile Fox.
|
Ok, so me and the guitarist are re-working my band's website...and while the pictures (at least of me!) are heinous, I'm curious to hear what y'all think. As in, since this is just started, I am very interested in suggestions...

Pretty good, compared to other band sites.

Wanna bet? :naughty: |
Super Deluxe and Foxfire. Me and my friend used to call the Clark place the bonershop as they had some sweet stuff. Too bad about the dicks behind the counter :p I've never been to either of those GC's as I went to school in Lincoln Park and was 5 minutes away from the Halsted GC. So maybe you guys are right. But I found the staff to be fairly friendly(sometimes), and there was an Aria Pro II fretless in there I loved. I agree about the Warwick and Fender preference, but the I like Warwicks and every once in a while there'd be a real gem in there. Like the custom Rickenbacker, or the matching Aria Pro II's(one fretless, one fretted). There's a music shop by Fullerton and Western(a little west of ot actually) that was my personal favorite. Not a wide selection, but some nice stuff, such as a Kramer 8 string and a 4 string MTD Grendel that was absolutly sweet. I miss Chicago talking about all this.

Neh, I'll still pick it up of course, it's just I am stuck in sort of a rut, I suppose. I need my Wooten book back, damnit! |

Oh yeah, the staff there is really nice (When I picked up my Wooten book, the guy at the register chuckleed and went "Dude. This book kicks ass."). You went to Lincoln Park? Were you IB, or what? How long ago'd you live here? |
What's up Funk'n, Fox, and Paul?
Yar. joe |

Oh man, they have some utterly SICK jazz basses there. Too bad they gave me the, "hey little lady, go find yerself a nice squire and stop messing around with the REAL players' stuff." There's a new GC opening in Chicago soon, where my drummer will be working...I am looking forward to some goooood deals... |
Fox, yeah I was one of the IB Nerds. I just finished last year and moved back to germany(where I'm from) three months ago. I cannot stand the lack of 24 hour mexican food places in germany. Where do you go to school?
|
Super, yeah I wish a had a direct line into some sweet deals like that. Where will it open?
|
What's up Funk'n, Fox, and Paul?
Yar. joe
Nothing much, anything on your end? |
Mitch: I'm actually only in 8th grade at the moment. I go to Beaubien, which is on Laramie and Argyle. I want to go to Northside (got some buds there; hope to play Lacrosse). Did you know any of the Terrells? Or Michael Brandt?
|
Super, yeah I wish a had a direct line into some sweet deals like that. Where will it open?
Yeah; I didn't know about that. :amaze: |
Nothing much, anything on your end?
Homework, bass, and then watching the debates at school for extra credit. I was going to watch them anyway. Anyone else watching them/opinions? Yar. joe |
You Know Micheal Brandt! Man, this is a small world. Yeah, I was friends with his older sister and he got on my nerves constantly because I was the only senior he knew. Don't go to Northside, they are spoiled little brats over there. The girls were all easy too, but definitly nothing you'd wanna go out with. Go for IB, it's hard and a lot of work, but in the end really worth it. Like my counselor said: IB is something you want to be from, not in.
|
:p We'll see. The problem is that LP is really far away from here. Northside's sorta close, and I've got a bunch of friends there. Applications don't come until January, so I've still got time.
Haha oh man. When I was in...6th grade, Brandt started bringing lighters onto the bus, and we'd melt parts of the seats. Oh man he got in trouble constantly. Like when he was graduating, his class made shirts that said "GIFTIES '03", and the principal didn't like it, and locked them in the classroom the days they wore them. See, our school is messed up, and the other classes pick the shirts usually. But yeah...good times. Brandt was a frickin' genius though, dude. Or is. He was taking, what, Calculus freshman year? |
Haha, yeah.
Good times, Fox. Yar. joe |

Orland Park, I believe... I want a 210 cab sooo bad... The only people I know who went to HS in Chicago went to Curie and St. Rita; south side all the way. |
Cubs pwn j00.
:p |
Yeah, the little prick was taking the same Math classes that I took junior year in 8th grade. They won't be able to teach him anything by the time he's a sophomore. I heard about the shirt thing through his sister, but thankfully both his parents are lawyers so the school can't touch him. Don't tell me about LP being far away, I lived in Oak Park so it took an hour each mornig to get there. Micheal now lives about 10 minutes from where I used to live so he has the same problem. Serves him right.
|
LOL. :p
I'd have to take 2-3 buses and the brown line to get to LP. :( So yeah. We'll see. It's interesting though, people from Northside tell me the EXACT same things about people from Lincoln Park, and vice versa. :p |
I have to go between two schools during the day.... it blows....
|
Cubs pwn j00.
Wait what?
Cubs own jews? Yar. joe
yes. |
Super, I quite liked parts(the ones that weren't Chinatown or the Ghetto) of the Southside. There are some great bands there that don't get nearly enough coverage in the northside clubs like the fireside or elbow room. If you guys ever want to gig up there, look for a place called hotti biscotti on Fullerton Ave.(3545, I think). They're a small bar that can't afford to pay anyone, but the people there are really supportive and nice. Shoot for a Saturday gig, it'll be really full.
Fox, yeah there's a bit of rivalery between Northside and LP, but LP is way more ghetto with a ton of gang connections, so therefore LP kicks Northsides butt. Actually we were just jealous that Northside could afford nice things such as computers and so on. |
yes.
Thought so. Yar. joe |
look for some gigs on the East side, or even inside Indiana, around Hammondish....
|
Look for some gigs in the basement of 1109 Oxford.
I shall be there waiting, Mitchell. I have a lock of your hair, and a precious item of yours. All I need now is your presence to complete the ritual. Yar. joe |
Hmm...will DEFINITELY look into it. We just got through a round of playing gigs at some sorta scummy places, so a place where the people are decent would be a nice change. |
