new sigur ros review. yesssssssssssss.
Those songs were alright. The second and third tracks are the best. I really like the part where the voices loop. |

There's Nazi propaganda in that show. Look out! |

What are you talking about? I just listed less than half of what I listen to because I don't have the time nor the will to sit down and list every band/artist/ect that my ears dive into. The stuff I listed were things in Album Book #1, they're 3 more to go through. |

You need more jazz, NPC. Miles and Coltrane doesn't cut it.

*lassoes* *clicks spurs* im such a friggin lame-o. |
You need more jazz, NPC. Miles and Coltrane doesn't cut it.
I disagree. Miles and Coltrane are all I need. Maybe a little Monk. And if you count Billie Holiday, her too. I think she may be my favorite female vocalist of all time. |

Nah, it's really not enough but here's some of the stuff I also let my ears float away in: John Zorn Billie Holiday Ella Fitzgerald Duke Ellington Quincy Jones Fletcher Henderson Benny Waters Buddy Tate (swing) Sun Ra (good times) Bunk Johnson Elliott Sharp (already listed) Anthony Braxton Louis Armstrong (who doesn’t like King Louie?) Doc Cheatham (my uncle’s favorite) Jimmy Garrison Pharoah Sanders (again, who doesn’t like Pharoah?) Lonnie Liston Smith |
<3 Ella Fitzgerald.
I dunno, I just get bored with jazz really quickly. It doesn't really "do anything for me". |

It's the other way around for me. There's nothing I like better than long nights of drinking whiskey and listening to nothing but blues records. I only like "real" blues, though. None of that SRV shit.

Real Blues are played with an Acoustic guitar, is that what you mean? |
More or less.

It's really not often that you mention bands other than Joy Division that you like, but you seem to love saying "this band sucks". |
you seem to love saying "this band sucks".
We all do. Or has some fundamental change escaped my notice? |
We all do. Or has some fundamental change escaped my notice?
I try to keep it more in the lines of "I don't like this band" Except TMV. |
today has been cool - easy school stuff, music + beer when home + curry. How just chilling on MX with more beer and MSN. Maybe a DVD later
|

I don't think I've written much about Joy Division in a very long time and I don't think that makes a difference. In any case I just spent a good amount of my time listing just of some the groups/artists that I have in my large collection. And so what? If a band sucks well I'm going to say it. Being blunt is the best way to communicate, cut out the middle man and fire away. I think too many of you fanboys take your favorite music too seriously and can't take it when someone else doesn't like it. |
Everyone should try to keep it to one band.
Wanker can have TMV, Zmev can have Bright Eyes, Zappa can have The Velvet Underground, and I'll have The Libertines. |

I don't hate on much besides The VU and Love as it is.
Tonight I have a band concert. We're playing some crazy stuff, including a movement of a piece called "Ghost Train" by Eric Whitacre. It's a pretty cool piece, Whitacre really isn't that bad (although he's pretty derivative). As far as high school band work, his stuff is perhaps as good as new music gets. In this performance, we begin with a single spotlight on a flute soloist who plays a really spooky, quiet line. About 4 bars later, we all interrupt her with unbelievably obnoxious sounds, and all the lights go out except for onstage blacklights. It's going to be intense. |
Rebel.
|
We also have a trashcan ensemble at my school which is going to perform as well.
|
A trashcan ensemble? As in an ensemble doing trash metal covers of Can songs?
