Senor_Whippy 09-18-2005 07:59 AM

Do have to have permission to start a 'Official' thread.
Do have to have permission to start a 'Official' thread.
Yes, but no more official threads are going to be created. You may not have noticed but all of the Official threads have had a name changes and the 'official' tag no longer has a place in this forum.

Oh sorry, i wont do it again.

superpeer 09-18-2005 02:19 PM

Yeah, I'm currently searching for all the unlinked threads, I'm trying to add them all. It's hard work.

superpeer 09-18-2005 02:32 PM

Phew, I think I updated the Rules and Link thread completely. Let me know if something is still missing. *wipes sweat of forehead*

hey, this guy calls my music wankery!

Alright, it's his opinion but he could have expressed it in a more friendly way and by using less insulting words and descriptions.

Tell me how similair they are. Plagarism is a crime.

Lunch 09-18-2005 06:05 PM

His previous enstallment is also plagerised, I just found the Boston article he copied. It might be safe to assume this has been going on for awhile.

superpeer 09-18-2005 06:09 PM

If all of his threads are plagiarised, I'm taking them out of the rules thread. This is ridiculous.

Chu 09-18-2005 06:11 PM

That post about shred, I actually liked it, well whenever the thread starter didn't say anything.. I thought it could have been productive?

It could educate some people, especially people who believe Petrucci just shreds, I dunno....

superpeer 09-18-2005 06:13 PM

Not with that idiot threadstarter posting in it, man, he would've ruined it. Alright? It's not so much against the shred thing, but it was a brooding ground for senseless arguments. There's no healthy discussion when it's everyone against the threadstarter.

Lunch 09-18-2005 06:20 PM
If all of his threads are plagiarised, I'm taking them out of the rules thread. This is ridiculous.
The first two are plagerised, and the latest two are plagerised. I don't know about 3 and 4 though.

Personally, I feel that he should be banned for this, mainly because he said that "I wrote this...". If he had just posted an article lifted directly from a website, it would be annoying/wrong/cheap, but maybe not ban-able (obviously it would still be plagerism and still be illegal). But as soon as you take credit for it yourself with no reference to the original source, I think it should be ban-able offense. Just my thoughts.

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-18-2005 06:25 PM

The third was also plagarized.

http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9229815#post9229815

There's the only one he did write, and you can really tell that he actually wrote it. :-|

superpeer 09-18-2005 06:38 PM

I took them out of the rules thread. Should I close them as well?

Lunch: Perhaps I should. Thoughts? Anyone?

Chu 09-18-2005 06:43 PM

Umm, very weird.. My post in the Metallica thread was deleted, I believe? I can't see it in my history either :/

It's not very important, just weirding me out.

Edit: I don't think you should close the threads, what's been done has been done, at most edit his post/s and remove the copied works, but keep the threads open for dicussion?

He does deserve some sort of punishment for this, otherwise he might think he can just get away with it always 'Imagines him handing in a plagerised essay' :o
It'd be for his own good!

Lunch 09-18-2005 06:45 PM
I took them out of the rules thread. Should I close them as well?

Lunch: Perhaps I should. Thoughts? Anyone?
Haha, you're the mod :p

I think you should close them, but you already know how I feel about the whole situation. I hate plagerism.

superpeer 09-18-2005 06:49 PM

I'm trying to bring in a bit of democracy. :p

I mean, sure it's illegal, but so was the YSI thread.

Jom 09-18-2005 06:51 PM

Send him an e-mail and warn him that if it happens again, you'll ban him.

In the meantime, close the threads.

$.02

Lunch 09-18-2005 06:51 PM

Yea, but no one's orgininal work was in question with the YSI threads. It wasn't like I would upload a Hendrix track and claim it as my own (clearly this would be harder to get away with than plagerising internet biographies, but you get the point).

superpeer 09-18-2005 06:59 PM

I'll close the threads, and give him a few days. Everyone happy.
