Thrashmaster, \m/>_<\m/

Glad to see TeH DeTh slayed. I'm unusre of going to see them on Gigantour, only because it wouldn't be right if I just wanted to see them and maybe Dream Theater, while paying for a full price ticket.

hmm...well props to the Overkill shirt \m/

ThrashMaster27 04-16-2005 10:17 AM

I love that song. Sounded like a good show :thumb:

Edit: this was my 666th post  :naughty:

FatalEnergy 04-16-2005 02:56 PM

I love Overkill, but I really need to grab some more. I only have The Years of Decay and Horrorscope. Which would be the best to get next?

NP: Overkill - Soulitude (best Thrashy Ballad thing ever!) :thumb:

metal-militia 04-16-2005 04:22 PM

Under the Influence is good, so try that or Taking Over, or Feel the Fire.

FatalEnergy 04-16-2005 05:35 PM

alright the Tower records right next to me has Feel the Fire/**** You EP, 2 disc for $15, I'll go pick that up when I get some cash

Yeah, it was the Melbourne show.

MAthiAS 04-16-2005 09:45 PM

You guys that just saw Megadeth are so lucky, you got better setlists than I did back in November. Can't wait for Gigantour though.

And I can't get enough of Death Angel's Act III lately.

How is Act III? I saw it today at Tower, but didn't bother picking it up o.o;;;

MAthiAS 04-16-2005 10:30 PM

It sounds a lot like something Anthrax would produce. But there's three tracks that are pretty different. One is acoustic/clean for the most part (Veil of Deception) with an absolutely beautiful melodic solo in the middle. One is kind of funky with a cool bassline, and the other, A Room With A View, is a nice little ballad. The rest is pretty solid thrash, nothing too amazing, but those three tracks set it apart IMO. Its not that aggressive or anything, but its good work. It costs like $5 too.

FatalEnergy 04-16-2005 11:45 PM

Yeah, I have Act III, it was great when I first got it about a year ago, but it's just pretty average to me now :smash:

RavenousMetalist87 04-17-2005 12:06 AM

Hmm.

I'm really liking Dew-Scented. I know you guys don't call them thrash (I might be wrong, but I know what Dargon would tell me XD), but I think they're really interesting. Pretty pounding and aggressive, not even close to being melodic.

It's like Enemy of God without the Melodicness and Gothenburgness + Pounding Riffs. The vocals don't really sound the best...but it kind of reminds me of Max Cavalera mixed with Mille and Schmier...

It sounds weird XD, but the CD is good.

I also got the "Rude Awakening" from Megadeth (the DVD). Man, some good stuff. I like it a lot. Good set list, excellent sound, and awesome performance. They didn't headbang that much x.x, but the music was top of the notch.

\m/

Apocalyptic Raids 04-17-2005 12:57 AM

I didn't like Rude Awakening that much when i first saw it. I didn't like the sound all that much. Although i have the audio of it now and which is not as bad, it just doesn't compare to something like Decade Of Agression or Another Lesson In Violence.

Yeah, it is rather a good setlist. I was rather disappointed yesterday when they didn't play Hook In Mouth...that's one of my fave 'Deth tracks.

I'm not too up on Dew-Scented. They sound interesting enough though. What album would you recommend first?

DisposableHeroes 04-17-2005 04:24 AM

I spoke to GraveRobbersInc yesterday, atleast i think it was him. I may be mistaken

Anyone else going to the Testament reunion show in London?

Apocalyptic Raids 04-17-2005 05:18 AM

Just had a thought. How many of us here have friends who are into Thrash, or even just metal in general?

I have a few friends who are into metal in some form.

One is into Metalcore and Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth and some Slayer.

One is/was a big metalhead (he actually got me into metal), he used to like the big thrash bands, some death metal but these days he seems to be listening to more and more hardcore/metalcore and less metal

One also used to be a big metalhead but now listens to heaps of alt rock. He is/was still a huge a fan of the Gothenburg scene.

One seems to go through phases. 18 months ago it was underground rap, 12 - 6 months ago it was Dimmu, Opeth and Emperor and Melo-death. Now i don't really know what he listens to.

One is into Power metal, Prog rock and Classic rock.

DisposableHeroes 04-17-2005 05:25 AM

They're not really into metal, but one of them likes Rush, another likes Sabbath and Queen and thats about as heavy as they'll get. I can always convert though :p

Apocalyptic Raids 04-17-2005 05:28 AM

I tried to sublimenly (sp) covert that first guy i talked about by sneaking some old Sepultura and Kreator onto a mix i made to listen to while driving to Megadeth :D

DisposableHeroes 04-17-2005 05:31 AM

The guy into Rush plays drums, and i'm trying to get a band going with him. I'll probably lend him some Anthrax or Iron Maiden

Riva 04-17-2005 05:32 AM

I have three friends who listen to metal.

One is a nu-metal/metalcore fanatic, one is a "black metal head" who listens to CoF (:p) and the third is a prog-metal fanatic who thinks Symphony X are underground. So yeah, good for me.

In High School, I had a really awesome Thrash/Classic metalhead friend, but he moved to Melbourne. :(
