I saw Henry Rollins do one of his spoken word shows tonight. It was awesome. He's always so funny and entertaining and informative. He always has a lot of interesting things to talk about.

Soul 03-27-2010 10:50 AM

henry rollins is awesome

Spaceman Spiff 03-27-2010 11:21 AM

He did his usual 3 hours of non-stop talking. Going on about getting to be in the Canada the same week as Ann Coulter. Talked about the presidential election and going back to DC that day, hanging out with Ian MacKaye and seeing the Bad Brains. He was talking about his experience filming the second season of Sons Of Anarchy. He went on about going on RuPaul's show to judge the drag queens. And, of course, lots of stories about his travels in the last year.

:amaze: 03-27-2010 06:58 PM

Gattsu347 03-27-2010 07:39 PM

Sure man.

The new Gorillaz album is stunning

:amaze: 03-28-2010 12:44 PM

alright im making a new thread. everyone check it out plz n thx.

fatbandit 03-28-2010 12:45 PM

i don't like the new gorillaz album.

i think that makes me a bad person? idk

Spaceman Spiff 03-28-2010 12:58 PM

Gorillaz have always been hit or miss for me. Some songs I really like, but a lot of their music just doesn't hook me.

I haven't heard the new album yet, but I am curious. I'll check it out soon enough.

:amaze: 03-28-2010 01:13 PM

i've got their first 2 albums. some decent party songs and whatnot, but nothing amazing.

fatbandit 03-28-2010 02:06 PM

well this one has snoop dogg.

Gattsu347 03-28-2010 04:21 PM

the snoop dogg song is probably my least favorite on the album. This one is pretty wonderful:

:amaze: 03-28-2010 07:17 PM

who hasn't snoop dog recorded with?

BenJammin 03-29-2010 07:20 AM

We got some photos done last night. Just received a few of them for now, but they're pretty decent. I'll post them once we get more.

funkyhoney 03-29-2010 08:02 AM

Doitnow.

Sablate McNuff 03-29-2010 08:09 AM

C'mon Ben. Do it.

In other news, I'm going to eat a calzone for lunch. w00t!

FunkMetalBass 03-29-2010 08:50 AM

Sup, Sablate?

fatbandit 03-29-2010 12:05 PM

Nice. Is it loaded with Eminence Kappalites?

Also, what happened to the 2x12?

fatbandit 03-29-2010 12:18 PM

Probably.

I still have both.

FunkMetalBass 03-29-2010 12:30 PM

Brand?

Mr. Pickle 03-29-2010 12:33 PM

Demon Days is pretty amazing. I don't know what some of you fools are talking about.

fatbandit 03-29-2010 12:35 PM

barefaced

fatbandit 03-29-2010 12:36 PM

and i think i preferred gorillaz first album.

FunkMetalBass 03-29-2010 12:55 PM

I had this really sweet idea for a new pickup design. I'm ordering some neodynium magnets today so that I can experiment with them.

In other news, my backyard is covered with 2+ feet tall weeds. I'm really not looking forward to getting rid of them. My goal is a 10x10 square today.

BenJammin 03-29-2010 07:41 PM

I'm tired as hell. We're practicing like mad to learn/perfect new songs so that we're prepared for the gig on Friday. And by learn, I mean teach to the drummer.

funkyhoney 03-29-2010 08:01 PM
and i think i preferred gorillaz first album.
This.

And dealing dope

Spaceman Spiff 04-01-2010 10:50 AM

Hooray for paid holidays!

Not today, tomorrow.

FunkMetalBass 04-01-2010 11:20 AM

Sweet!

In Physics news, the LHC is up and functioning. A lot of cool stuff happening in the quantum physics world right now. :)

In Band news, my band is taking a bit of a hiatus as we're losing our guitarist for personal reasons and most of us just feel burned out. We're playing our last show on Saturday night, and then taking a break. Hopefully I can take that time to do a bit more solo writing, write some basslines for this side project I've been asked to help out with (http://www.myspace.com/vincentalexanderchavez)

In Bass news, I'm going to take pictures next week of parts for sale and put my 2000/2001 Singray 4H up for sale for $700 + s/h. A lot of my projects are coming together, and this time away from the band will give me some time to work on them. I have a pickup cavity to route, two paint jobs to apply, some epoxy for a fretless, and then some wood veneers to put onto my Brice. I'm pushing to have them all done at the beginning of summer.

Spaceman Spiff 04-01-2010 11:32 AM

In my band news, I feel reinvigorated since we booted our singer. She was dragging us down and slowing us down.
We're doing this album right now, we're auditioning singers (we've got some really promising ones), and we're practicing up to 3 times a week.
I'm in a good mood... except for my job. I hate that.

FunkMetalBass 04-01-2010 12:04 PM

I really hope you find a vocalist that is a powerful writing force in the band. Your music is so nichey as it stands.

BenJammin 04-01-2010 07:01 PM

My band is playing our first gig tomorrow. It's going to be a clusterfuck.

Spaceman Spiff 04-01-2010 11:11 PM
I really hope you find a vocalist that is a powerful writing force in the band. Your music is so nichey as it stands.
I know, dude. It's so hard to find someone that's a good fit. But it looks like we've got two that can do the job. We're auditioning one of them this weekend. The other isn't free until next weekend.

We've had way more that seem like potential choices, but these two really stand out above the rest.

New cab ^_^

fatbandit 04-02-2010 08:35 AM

It's bigger than it looks there. That's perspective for you.

FunkMetalBass 04-02-2010 10:38 AM

Take a bottom-up pic.

I'm still looking into new cabs, and I'm thoroughly undecided about what I want. I just know that my 120 lbs of 4x10 and 1x18 are getting to be too much.

fatbandit 04-02-2010 10:54 AM

i can lift that 2x15 in one hand

fatbandit 04-02-2010 10:55 AM

also just bought an SM57. i would really love to be able to do some recordings with my amp now, i just don't have a suitable place to do it.

FunkMetalBass 04-02-2010 11:12 AM
i can lift that 2x15 in one hand
Nice.

I'm considering a fEarful 1515/66 cab, which weighs in around 90 lbs.

fatbandit 04-02-2010 11:27 AM

What makes you think the 15/6 wouldn't be enough?
