goddamn, what an awesome interview!
Stephen was such a friendly guy... great time; I will tell you everything later on... now I have to learn for my exam. |
Awesome Kacper.
Great to hear that. I'm waiting for the answer on the brown note question. But first, good luck with learning. |
Just wanted to let everyone here know that the official website and our My Space page have been updated with a significant amount of news, but I'll summarize here anyway:
1. I have stepped aside as lead vocalist for a plethora of reasons, and after almost a year of covert rehearsals, I'm pleased to announce the new singer is Rain Irving from the old Magna Carta prog metal band Altura. I will be focusing primarily on guitar, just like back in '89, but will contribute harmony vocals and so forth along with Jim and Michelle. 2. We've booked a month of studio dates throughout the summer to complete the "Vast Oceans Lachrymose" album. The masters will be delivered to Cruz Del Sur Music by September 1st, allowing for a 2009 release. 3. New merch will be available in time for the Born Too Late festival, and we will have enough surplus for Internet orders after the fact as well. We are also in the process of renewing our EU merch deal, so there will be further designs available in 2010. 4. There will be a vinyl pressing of "VOL" and other subsequent releases made available throughout the 2009-2010 20th anniversary 5. We are in the process of planning dates in the EU for 2010 and a couple other shows domestically...more on that soon. For more detailed info on these developments, feel free to peruse www.whileheavenwept.com and www.myspace.com/whileheavenwept Looking forward to seeing everyone again in Rochester and beyond. Official Cruz Del Sur Music updates will follow in the next couple months.
Also, for anyone who hasn't heard yet, the Hour of 13 singer left. |
holy ****, im assuming this means hes not gonna do vocals in new york.
**** |
Yeah. :(
|
I e-mailed him and asked. It's complete bullshit if he doesn't, considering WHW's fans have been waiting to hear the actual WHW with Tom, not some new vocalist. Seriously, I won't even go if he's not doing vocals. This is ridiculous.
|
Seriously, I won't even go if he's not doing vocals. This is ridiculous.
I understand any frustration very well, but to the point of not even wanting to see them live anymore? |
If it's not with Tom Phillips on vocals it's not While Heaven Wept.
|
high on fire
|
High on Fire is amazing, can't wait to hear the new stuff, I think they are recording this summer if I remember right. Also Black Cobra should have a new one out this summer.
|
High on Fire are kinda bleh live
|
I loved them live. I would even place them in my top 5 best bands I have seen live, Pike is a god. Their sound is made to be played live in my opinion. What made them "bleh" live for you?

I like Kyuss.

ok, now its time to report the Sunn O))) Interview!
I went to the hotel and some minutes later another guy came in to do the interview either - the nice thing: I knew him; he is a guy from a big radio-station and we talked a little bit (yeah, two celebrities in such a short time, hehe); Greg wasn't available and Stephen came down to the reception of the hotel and he seemed kind of unfriendly. First he did the interview with the radio guy and I had to wait for half an hour. Then it was my turn - it was the longest interview I did so far. The longer it took, the better it got. Stephen was a really friendly guy! About the Brown note: he said that for him its a funny thing, more of humour thing, but he likes the idea. Told me that he is a fan of Lustmord either and a lot of other things. In the end I wanted to do a photo but at first he said no, but shortly after he went out to the street and agreed to do a photo - "somewhere I saw a pron-shop... we could make the photo in front of it" haha... but he couldn't find it, so we just did it in front of a garage. He even knew that I had to learn for my last exam and told me to go home now and to learn for it ^^ awesome this guy! If you really like, I can transfer the interview into mp3 and upload it for you... any interest? |
Is it in german?
|
how - stephen can't speak german. Its only me who is to blame cause of my english
|
if you load it up I'll give it a listen

Anyone else dig it?
I've only heard the EP, which I think is great. Will endeavor to track down the album at some point, now that I've been reminded it exists*. Is Heirophant worth looking into? *Probably won't happen for some time. Haven't downloaded anything in months and it's not going to show up on any distro's I frequent. |
Heirophant is basically the same stuff in demo form and shortened song structures.
I'd say it's worth looking into, I guess though. |

nice id rec sleep-sleep's holy mountain for you MR FLAT |
I love doom metal. Some of the bands I enjoy:
-Black Math Horsemen
I've seen BMH 3 times now, including their cd release party where Scott Reeder came out and jammed with them for 2 of the 5 songs they played. I would call them more post-rock with a doom tempo, but the genre doesn't really matter, this is one of the best bands going IMO. And that's not just because of my crush on Sara Timms. It was great that they got picked up by TeePee Records, one of the best labels going. But for pure stoner 70s love, no label beats Small Stone. |
Any guitarists in Nor Cal want to play some doom?
|
Any of yall niggas wanna upload one of the better Esoteric albums? Can't find it on the torrents.
|
Here's a megaupload link to Subconscious Dissolution Into The Continuum.
One of their better albums. |
Where does a prog/death metal fan start into doom?
|
Esoteric is a good place to start I suppose.
You'd probably like some Doom/Death stuff, but honestly that **** can get old quick. Stuff like Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride's early material. Like I said, you'd probably like it, but once you start checking out other doom you won't listen to it so much anymore. |
Sunn O))) Interview online - for those who know some german ;)

i shall attempt to read it!
