yeah, both versions of Fratres are my favorite pieces in classical music period. Can't decide which one I like more because it changes each time I listen to them.

jrowa001 11-22-2008 11:34 PM

im looking forward to hearing it. Alina seriously has some beautiful pieces. im slowly getting myself into classical music. ive been listening to a lot of Peter Broderick, Steve Reich, Mico Nonet, and Max Richter, who are amazing. not too sure on where to start for early classical music like Beethoven and Bach. any suggestions? not just for those two either

Doppelganger 11-22-2008 11:42 PM

Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons is kind of essential if you haven't heard that already, which you probably have. I'm not too well-versed in classical myself tbqh.

@jrowa
definitely. and i don't know much about classical either (my collection consists of about 8-9 basic albums ala beethoven's 5th) but i recommend the version done by Anne Sophie Mutter which is excellent.

will do! thanks!

Doppelganger 11-22-2008 11:51 PM

oh and I forgot Erik Satie, the cool dude that's Txus's avatar. For him, I recommend Gymnopedie and Gnossiene

Txus 11-22-2008 11:53 PM

Btw, I'd also recommend Satie's Sarabande, and check out some Iannis Xenakis.

Correction 11-23-2008 12:00 AM

thread has encouraged me to listen to tabula rasa. don't listen to a lot of classical, but hopefully this is a good introduction.

"Crypts Of Somnambulance" is my favorite Moss song. So slow and suffocating, I love it.

rasputin 11-23-2008 08:54 AM

Yeah I hadn't heard Cthonic Rites until recently, it's just as good as Sub Templum, if not better. Crypts of Somnambulance rules.

RetiredAt21 11-23-2008 08:55 AM

I'd definitely say that Cthonic Rites is their best.
